Hehe, that's just what I do from experience. Three times is a must for me tounge.gif.

Oh and about the parade, I'm sure you can find a lot of people to join you if you look in the right places *cough*PS3 fans*cough* tounge.gif.

My old PS3 fanboyism knew no limits:

In the US there all playing their bloody 360's , ignoring the

PC and PS3.

Thankfully, now I can just sit and laugh at fanboys rather than be one.

A bit offtopic, but does anyone use FireForumz here? They went down unexpectedly and been out for a week now. Anyone know what happen and if they will come back?

NVM, good news were released about it.

But, x360 is a lot better, can't you see? With all the exclusives and whatnot?!!!?!? Also it has many uses when it breaks down.

BUT THE PS3 HAS 8 CORES AND IS SHINIER.

That was my old excuse.

The PS3 does have a powerful CPU though, way faster than the 360 CPU anyway. We'll never get to see the true capabilities of the CPU because the devs are just too f*cking lazy.

PS3 could easily be the best console if the lazy devs learn to f*cking code and do their job instead of crying like little babies saying it's too hard.

Well, why didn't Sony just make an easier process for coding? More time in coding equates to more $ spent. Lazy, hah! More like unwilling to put in unnecessary effort.

It's all about the Benjamins. They needed to cut out the functionality in order to lower the price. And it still wasn't cheap enough nut they lost load of reliability and quality. General public need to understand you can't get more for less.

elanman, maybe it's shiny, but it's fekking large foe a console tounge2.gif

I think Sony tried their best to make it as easy as possible. The reason why devs seem to be complaining is because the PS3 hardware is a lot different from the usual consoles they code for.

They have to learn to adapt to new things. I'm pretty sure that if Sony itself starts putting out some new games which fully utilizes the PS3's capabilities, it could easily be the console king.

Anyway, enough of that. Let's get back on topic. PC GAMING biggrin.gif.

@Jost, What's the video card you have? If it's the 8800GT is should work despite not being supported.

Oh and I just bought COD4 and realised just how kickass PC gaming is inlove.gif. Beautiful game.

@Warlord. Why use a new architecture when you can use the one you've been coding on for years? (Get my point?) Anyway . . .

I was prime-testing my CPU . . . and I found out at 3.6 it wasn't stable . . . so I lowered it from 400FSB to 397 at which it was. Then I kicked up Vcore a notch and tried 400 again. No luck. However, it was stable at 399, giving me 3.568GHz. 68C during Prime98 stress test.

Is it heat that's preventing me from achieving a stable clock higher than what I have now? Or is it the Vcore? I'm still new to this whole overclocking business. (Also, if any of you were wondering, each notch in FSB has an equivalent of around 4 FPS to me in GTA IV)

Because the old architecture is EXTREMELY slow and just cannot cut it for new games.

Anyway, for your problem, 3.6GHz should be nothing for that chip. The temps are perfectly fine too.

Try lowering the multiplier to 8.5 and setting the FSB to 424 (8.5x424=3604MHz).

Oh and I'm sure such a small overclock on that chip is possible at stock voltage.

I can't set it to 8.5 . . . (unless DEC is another way to key in numbers)

You'll maybe have to flash the MBO. Only when I did it, my MBO recognized the CPU correctly.

You should also play with FSB termination voltage (usually FSB voltage) and the northbridge voltage (GMCH or something like that). The latter one is especially useful.

What cooler are you using?!

72c is the max that chip can get to before they have a chance of being damaged, I suggest get a cheap and good cooler for that like the Xigmatek S1283.

Put your MCH/GMCH voltage up a step, make sure you're not putting your RAM at a high speed causing instability, as Warlord said, 3.6Ghz is a stroll in the park for that chip, With a new cooler, you should be able to get to 4Ghz at least.

But as this topic is for gaming and not really so much hardware, I suggest we change topic, for now at least. Anyone else hear that Will Wright left EA? I wonder what his next Simcity/The Sims/Spore will be and if it will actually be good...

I'm not much into those "life sims" anyway. But I am always glad when someone abandons EA. I don't like their policy that much.

On brighter note, I only yesterday had the chance to play Portal (Orange box was in the bargain bin at game biggrin.gif) and I have to say the game is just charming. Lots of sophisticated humor, just the way I like it.

However, I had some issues with Steam. It refuses to run in offline mode (after restart it just reports that it couldn't connect to steam network... well, duh, I don't want you to connect biggrin.gif) and since I'm on dial-up, you understand my boggle. Any advice?

Solved, it only needed to remember the password and now it's OK.

Crap, I'm on stock intel heatsink, I'll check out that Xigmantek soon.

I played on the PS3 earlier today, at my friend's house, oh the lag... cry.gif . About 25 FPS average/lower in Assassin's Creed and GTA IV, masked

with blur.

Warlord. : CoD: 4 is a masterpiece, I just bought Wolfenstein 3D off Steam, it rocks.

AC is especially bad once you mount that horse and head out of town. Imagine if you could ride it in the town, things would fall apart. It's very poorly optimized on any platform.

It breaks 60FPS on my computer, well it actually runs at like 80 so it can't be that badly optimized

I said that because I didn't want to come off like a senile console basher. The fact is the game runs like a piece of crap on SP3 and that's the only version I had to endure in first person.

K?

It runs perfectly on my PC, hell of a lot better than the console versions.

lol you guys are such fanboys. "It runs maxed out @ 60FPS on my system blah blah" and not for a moment do you consider those PS3 users who play AC while risking eye cancer.

I've just completed "Escape From Castle Wolfenstein", he first section of Wolfenstein 3D. This game is incredible, now for Operation Eisenfaust!

And I've learned that Steam games (even the retail releases) and dial up connection do not go together.

It seems like Ubisoft is the only company that can make a good port of a console game. It took them some time, but at least they delivered, unlike some other companies we know (R*)

It's really optimized good. One can max out the game on 8600 with a good framerate, and I have a 4850

I decided to buy a USB controller today. Fortunately it was a USB PS3 air cooled controller. I used the PS3 driver software and it works like a charm in GTA VC and SA. Anyone know a program to get it to work with Fallout 3?

Does it work in GTA IV? It probably won't work in any game that looks for an xbox controller.

Try some of these links if you haven't already here and here.

If Fallout 3 is working on it, then it's no that sh*tty, is it? A lot of people wrongly rule out their hardware as weak only because it can't run GTAIV properly.
