I really hate ATI installers, not a single has ever, ever worked properly for me. At first it was just that CCC just totally wouldn't work after install, then it did start working but the GUI installer wouldn't work, so then I've been using the CLI installer and for one install it was alright (aside from the GUI still beign borked), now I've upgraded to 9.1 and CCC is back to not working (although that's not neccessarily an issue, I find it to be bloody useless compared to the NVCP back when I had my 8800GT). Not to mention every single time it fails to open the log file, always tells Firefox to open "file:///C:/Program " without the rest of the path. I know many people don't have any problems, but does anybody actually test these installers or what?

Rant over. Here's hoping the actual drivers that do work well have some nice performance bonuses.

Deus Ex 3 is not being developed by the original developers and is also multiplatform. Brace yourself for a crappy sequel that sh*ts all over the legacy of the original.

 

Although, with the history that consolized sequels have it'll probably get rave reviews.

Nice link, 3nix. I've spotted some games that I didn't know... Fuel sounds good, hopefully its a good game for open offroad driving (Always wanted to do that in a game...) with good physics and handling.

Yea, I played the first and second, I'm quite aware. Eidos is promising alot of new features, though.

 

Warlord.: Get Deus Ex GOTY Edition.

 

Basically, think strategic FPS. Then throw some customization and RPG values into the mix. Then, once it's all blended, put it in a cyberpunk theme and you'll get the idea.

What about Bioware's Dragon Age? I kinda like those old school (hopefully) RPG's and this one looks promising. Especially the part about being developed as a PC game for more mature audience. Also, Warlord. have you played The Witcher? A truly great PC title IMO.

 

As an addon, I have more offerings from the local Gameplay - "gaming" magazine - about Kill Zone 2. Last month they had a preview and this month a review even though, as I understand it, the game hasn't been published yet? They said:

I don't understand where do these guys get such illusions of greatness from?

 

 

Our respect goes to beautiful and megalomaniac (?) Crysis and to developers from Cryteck, but KZ2 is the absolute winner in the department of astonishing visuals and graphical achievements. Even though Crysis on a top PC configuration looks more "realistic", it simply can not reach KZ2 in it's artistic expression

Now, this is only a translation to English and I failed to depict how utterly horrific the original text sounds. Firstly, they have this need to compare console titles with PC games? Why the hell do that? Secondly, note the quotes around "realistic". So, Crysis does or it does not look realistic? More realistic then anything consoles have to offer? So, even if Crysis looks "realistic", KZ2 looks loads better and is more meaningful? Great, just great.

 

One thing to note also, even though the pre-preview has been filled with FPS issues and such, in this preview they don't say one word about it. I guess the machinery has kicked in and they have received the *phone call*.

So I finally broke down and bought an Xbox 360 for some extra gaming.

Funny thing is that I use the damn thing for a media station more than I do a gaming console.

PC still wins imo.

That's what I'm waiting for, for someone to finally take that engine and create an FPS action masterpiece. Preferably without aliens and frigging caves. And let's hope they would leave out the WW2 because it's been done and redone. I would love to see a Freedom Fighters-ish type of game on Crysis engine.

Yes, I liked Crysis quite a lot, but the game becomes crap when the aliens arrive, just like

the Trgens in Far Cry.

 

Joe: It's optimised for future systems, no it's not amazingly coded, but look at the amazing physics engine;

if only Crytek had spent longer on it. Seen GTA IV?

Yeah, R* lied about minimum system requirements. This PC is not more then 10 years old and GTA IV runs badly on it (any other 3D app, as well ), plus I had to upgrade my HDD from 20 to 80 GB as it was really being pushed to the limit .

 

My quad died and while waiting for a replacement I had to make do with available parts. I've been playing some Age of Empires 2, Fallout 2 and Diablo II lately Those games work like a charm (OK, Diablo gets a bit jerky).

It's not my old rig. I gave my previous PC to my brother and it would be a piss poor move on my part to take take it back. The PC in my sig is made from various (mostly ancient) components that have accumulated over the years in my basement . And it only *temporarily* replaces my machine.

 

And I definitely had to gave up on BG2, framerate drops were just to severe .

Hopefully, this week. But like I said a while back, consumers rights are not top priority in my country, so f*ck me. Tomorrow will be full two weeks and it definitively shouldn't take more then a month

I have been reading through this thread for a few days and catching up on the PC gaming world. I started PC gaming way back on a C64, games like Iridium, Ghost n Goblins, Hunchback etc etc....then I got into stuff like Rainbow 6, Half Life, Hidden and Dangerous, MOH, GTA3 and Battlefield in the 90's into the millenium.

 

A friend recently upgraded and gave me his old Dell e521 barebones, I spent a couple hundred dollars and threw all the stuff in my signature in it and now have a pretty decent gaming rig on the cheap.

I have been reading through this thread for a few days and catching up on the PC gaming world. CoD: 4 is a great PC Game, fantastic Single player and Online.

 

Crysis is another great title, however, don't expect to run it maxed out, trust me. It's good until the aliens show up, anyway.

HL2 is one of the best First person shooters I have every played, if not the best. I'd highly recommend it.

I'm finally back on track. New CPU came in and since the had no 9300 on stock, they sent me a 9400. Not a big upgrade, but it was free. And free upgrades are the best ones in my book

I found an incredible good deal on CyberPower.com for a same day shipping computer (http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/A64_Same_Day/) and I have added the 580 watt power supply, Nvidia 7200 GeForce, and a few freebies. I plan to buy a new 9800GTX a couple of months after I buy this beast.

 

The problem is the CPU. I have been looking between the Phenom X3 8650, and the Phenom X4 9850. Which is better for gaming and price? I really have no idea, and I am trying to keep everything cheap.
