No I got drunk at a friend's party.. 2 rose wine bottles, 1 champagne bottle, Half a bottle of vermouth, quarter bottle vodka, some shots of absinthe, and some sambuca-orange take it's toll after some time..

I actually quite like the red PCB. Sorta works out nice if you have a black/red motherboard and black wiring.

my mobo is in-fact black. But the case fans have blue leds.. it's like a f*cking carnival in there. PSU wires dont help either.. there's all sorts of coloured wires.

 

Either way. I'm looking at Nvidia's answer to my GFX card. WTF have they taken a step back, I mean seriously, 1.7GB of VRAM? WTF! some games *cough GTA,crysis*cough are a challenge for the 1gb on the ATI, why on earth make a dual GPU card with 895Megs of vram?

 

I really hope the 5870 (not x2) comes in 1gb/2gb standard. the x2 could do with 4 gigs imo.

Nice to see XFX sticking their fingers in the ATI pie, those black cards look sweet. Shame the 4870 is like the reference design, which I always thought was fugly, luckily no-one really has to look at them, being in a case and everything. I've heard rumours being thrown around that the 58xx series will come in an x4 variety, obviously there's no proof but if you happen to have the national grid in your house, an OctoFireX setup would be sweet. I kinda wish I'd held off the 4870 and waited for the 4850X2 though, just for the extra kick, the 4870 does it's job but it's already struggling with some current games. Will definitely be picking up a GTX 285 is it? The die shrink of the 280, so long as they drop the price a little.

I'm guessing you still have the X-Clio? Tell me about it, I've got the blue LEDs dancing about on the fans and then green and red mobo lights, it's insane. And loud. Very, very loud.

Hey, guys. I remember some talking about YouTube and people being from the wrong country (e.g. not America) couldn't see certain videos. Introducing: HotSpot Shield. It assigns you a new IP, you can shut it on and off, and allows you to watch US-only content, like Hulu. So far it's working just fine, it's really a great thing but I just wanted to know if there are any side effects to these kinds of programs.

 

Knowing my luck, I probably already have 10 keyloggers and 6 trojans.

I wouldn't touch the 4850 X2 with a ten foot pole. Why? 3850 X2...They both have similarities, underhwelming and over priced,

they just aren't worth it. They are also only manufactured by one company (ASUS and Sapphire respectively). Driver support

on the 3850 X2 is dying out, I can see the same happening to the 4850 X2.

 

At least I've ordered the MSI 260 OC...

 

What games would the 4870 struggle with?

cant think of any game except crysis that the 4870 can't handle, that said, like the 88GT I had, You won't be going over 1600x1200 with AA on. But if it's great.

GTX 260 (216) should handle it fine maxed out.

It was me. I also use that app and it works great. As I understand it, it was designed for protection for laptops on various wireless networks, but it's great with multitasking It "unlocks" all sorts of hidden content. There was a number of times I would get a 404 page or the likes in some unexpected situations. And guess what, HotSpot fixed those situations.

 

To add on the discussion you had before, what gaming mouse would you guys recommend? I have more and more trouble with my old g90 or something logitech. These would be my options, so if you could pick something out, I would appreciate it. BTW, divide the prices by 5 and you'll get dollars.

 

As a side note, I'm using a (standard office, no multimedia crap on it) 40$ keyboard, and it makes a big difference. The keys are soft and quiet, it can take quite a lot of beating also. I once snapped and kicked the space bar clean off. Guess what, it took me 10 seconds to get it back into position and it works perfectly. Although it's a bit crooked now

IT'S HERE...But I'm waiting for a professional (he'll be here later in the week) to help me install it.

 

The 295 is the multi GPU dual 280 solution, looks good, however, I smell driver neglect when the

''GTX 395'' is out .

GTX 260 216 is installed. It's awesome, Crysis very high, 1204''1024, no lag around 40 FPS.

Got a good price on it, too. I think the Rv770 is a great chip, however. Really, ATI are doing great,

that's why I'm no fanboy of the Reds or Greens, either one's on top one time or another.

 

By the way, the GTX is REALLY quiet, especially when compared to my old card.

I couldn't believe the noise difference when I got my new PC. Albeit, my old machine had some extra vents, but it seemed like they were in a lets-make-alot-of-noise competition In addition to that, the case started to vibrate slightly, so at times it got VERY loud.

I myself can't wait to get one of these GTX, i'm under a 8800GT at the moment, but I made a promise to don't get any other gpu until next generation is out, and with that I guess I mean DX11 and so on... I heard the 300GTX series is what I want... Guess I will end with a 280GTX when the 300 are out, for the price-drop, bleh.

Well...

 

Does anybody else find the current graphicscard line-up weird/confusing.

 

Nvidia still has the 8 series selling like hotcakes; then they have the 9 series which is technically the same as the 8 series line-up (except for the 9600 cards which are derived from the 8800s); then they have the GTX series (which lacks mid and low-end cards... but honestly, who can blame them with such selection available) and THEN the dual-GPU solutions.

 

Then we look at Ati and its the same stuff all over again. Still a few HD2xxx series cards around (though noticeably less than Nvidia with its 8 series); after that... the HD3xxx series which is pretty much derived from the previous cards; now we have the HD4xxx series with the additional dual-GPU cards... again. Im not saying that having choice is a bad thing, but christ, its getting difficult to keep track of these things.

 

How is a novice supposed to orient in all that?

 

Oh, and it doesnt help that some of my local stores have a few cheaper-than-dirt ancient cards still in stock (like they had a bloody 7950GX2 a couple of months ago or like they still have an X1950GT).

 

EDIT: Not to mention the special-edition cards which are mostly overclocked or differently cooled.
