Yeah, all the sources say DX11 for RV870, and anywhere from Q1 2009 to mid-2009. It's obviously not official but it looks pretty certain that it'll be DX11.

Yea, which makes me regret buying the 4870x2 instead of waiting a few months for a huge upgrade. I should have also considered waiting and get the Core i7 920, which is even cheaper than my current CPU.

Dang, you buy the best of PC parts today, and the next day you find out that it is history

Awesome, and DX11 won't be out for a while, what's your current GPU? (Guessing Geforce 7 series or Radeon 2 series.)

 

Think I'll wait for the DX11 GPUS.

Anyone else looking forward to Arma II? It's made by the same developers who created Operation Flashpoint, and of course, Arma (1). I posted some screenshots before though nobody seemed too interested, but BIS released the trailer today and I thought I'd show you all.

 

 

 

Personally, I think it looks awesome. Of course I'll have to wait until it's released before deciding if it's really good or not, but so far I think it will be. I enjoyed Arma despite it's flaws, and this game improves upon practically everything.

 

Aside from that, BFG sent back my replacement videocard today. I'm kind of paranoid that they made up an excuse to not replace it, (after all, this is my second time to return a card in two weeks), though they haven't emailed me anything regarding that.

My Dad still has his, and he occasionally will pop in a floppy and mess with it. I never have used it, but I do know that it is a fun little machine.

Arma2 indeed does look great. I have been following it for some time, what type of game is it supposed to be? Is it a railroad game like a typical COD title or is it more open-ended?

 

On a side note, does your card still work incorrectly? Maybe they just tightened those loose bolts?

I sent in my card in for repair on Saturday. Since it was under warranty I didn't want to start messing with it, but if the new one has the same problem then I'll just try your suggestion.

 

As far as Arma II goes, if it's anything like the first Arma then it should be nonlinear. Don't take this to heart, but I think it may be similar to a mix of GTA, Oblivion, and the original Arma. It's hard to tell though because not much information has been released about the campaign. The editor, of course, should be totally open ended.

Arma2 does certainly look amazing, Mkey82: DX11 is due to coincide with 2009 Windows 7.

It means Arma II is confirmed for the PC and an unspecified console, which, judging by the gameplay videos, looks to be the Xbox360.

 

As far as gameplay, it's kind of unique. First of all it's a simulator, so no jumping or crazy stuff. In fact, there is a professional version called VBS1 that is designed for military training. Anyways, the campaign in Arma sucks. Basically, you select a mission you can complete it any way you want, though traveling too far from the objective is pointless because the island is empty. The only part that comes even close to free roam is the ingame editor, where basically you can put units down on the map to play around or make your own mission (though aside from the units you put down, the island will still be empty). Multiplayer is fun, a bit laggy, but fun nonetheless.

I've always wanted to play ArmA, but the constant emphasis on simulation rather than fun made it more like Flight Simulator X versus flying a jet in BF2. I still want to try it someday, but not for $49.99.

I'm not trying to advertise or push anyone to buy it, though you can get it for $10. I suggest trying the demo first, because as you said, it's a simulator and some people find it boring.

Try some of that motion sickness medicine I used to take them a decade back as a kid and they work like a charm Otherwise, what's your opinion on Fallout3, it seems a bit too much like rehashed Oblivion to me.

Those clunky animations are a turn off though.. I was hoping they'd improve them from oblivion.

Well you see, when pressure is applied to the accelerator in a vehicle, said vehicle then begins to move. This new phenomena is called "motion". Some people after a period of time have an adverse reaction to this "motion" and in turn, become what some experts call "sick".

 

Do you seriously not see how vehicles have to do with motion sickness?

 

(I'm not saying that you can only get motion sickness when in a car, just clarifying what motion sickness has to do with vehicles)
