Can you install Windows on the Cyberpower steam machine? Also how powerful would you say the Cyberpower steam machine is? If it can run games at the minimum of 900p and 60fps then that's good enough for me.

Holy crap everyday! No wonder PC gamers say they rarely pay full price for games.

How often do Triple A and Double A games go on sale on Steam?

Every day lol.

But it depends on the game.

A game that just came out will go on sale for only probably 5 or 10%, and that's if it even goes on sale, which it won't immediately.

What's with the PC Master Idiots complaining about Assassin's Creed Unity and Far Cry 4? Just because uPlay and Watch_Dogs?

This exactly. I'll never forget the line of code in Watch_Dogs that said "this is PC only, who cares."

Edit: Ryse: Son of Rome is getting a PC port. I have no interest in the game myself, but it's interesting to see this trend of Xbox One exclusives getting ported.

The game itself was universally panned, as far as i know. It basically killed Crytek, which just makes me really sad.

But hey, they believe it'll be a good benchmark. The game does look great, even on the Xbox One. In the character model area especially. It's going to be very interesting to run it on a high-end PC, if nothing else.

Still, sad state of affairs with Crytek and all. Reminds me of Pandemic :(.

Yeah. it was kind of inevitable. People will anticipate a flop from Ubisoft for many games to come, because of Watch_Dogs alone. I don't know if that's justified or not. In some areas, perhaps. Especially after the technical abomination that was WD on PC. On the other hand, it's not exactly fair.

Another thing that isn't fair is Ubisoft's "1 dollar = 1 euro" policy (when it comes to their European Steam releases). That sh*t is just awful. Up until AC III, I was able to buy every single Digital Deluxe Edition of Assassin's Creed for around 60 euros. But then things changed, and prices started becoming absolutely f*cking ludicrous. 80 euros for a Digital Gold Edition of Unity, with a discount. 90 without the discount. The exact same goes for Far Cry 4.

Horrible.

Its not justified. They are fretting out because they didn't get graphics better than the consoles, which is dumb. And if you wanted such graphics, you'd need to dig deeper in the game, and that makes them even angrier. I don't see how its a technical abomination; ran better on my dual core than AC4 and at a high resolution, so I bet a quad core wouldn't struggle with a good AMD.

I don't think this policy is exclusive to Ubi, I think almost every Steam release might be suffering from that. Unless my information sources are outdated.

Either way, Ubisoft doesn't treat their customers like sh*t. Their customers do.

It seems pretty justified to me. Nothing dumb about it. It's not so much about the graphics as it is about the principle of it. The concept of handicapping someone just so that their clearly inferior opponent can gain an undeserved "victory", so to speak.

Ubisoft downgraded the PC version's visuals in order to allow the so-called "next gen" console versions to "shine". That doesn't seem fair now, does it? I'm not going to shoot my athletic competitor in the f*cking kneecap because I'm fat and can't keep up in the race (sh*tty improvised metaphor).

Also, just because you don't have issues with your dual core, doesn't mean the game isn't causing trouble for anyone else.

I'd like to give you more than a few examples, but I find myself shorter on time and energy right now. All I'm going to say is this; Watch_Dogs fails to keep 60 FPS on Ultra settings, 1080p on a rig consisting of Two Titan cards, 32 gigs of RAM, a Intel i7 six core. This is according to Total Biscuit's video on the game on launch day.

This is a problem. No matter how you look at it. It's a problem. But it's not nearly as bad as other cases, where people with reasonably higher-end rigs suffer abysmal optimization. Stuttering, massive frame drops and freeze spikes, inconsistent mouse movement. Just have a look at the Steam Discussions section of the game's Steam Community Hub.

People DO tend to exaggerate Watch_Dogs' "awfulness" though. There's a lot of hyperbole when it comes to the quality of the game itself. Probably because the technical side of it left such a bad taste in the mouth already.

Yeah, "technical abomination" my arse. I get a steady 60FPS on Ultra with a far less powerful rig. W_D doesn't seem to respond well to SLI in in particular, but it's always a case of YMMV with things like this.

I haven't tried running the game since the first week of June. I don't know how many patches came out since then. But the last time I tried, it was a slideshow on the lowest settings possible. Resolution included, at 800x600, I believe.

Now my PC isn't even anywhere near mid-end or average, at least compared to some of the more modest rigs out there that were put together in recent years.

I've got 4 gigs of RAM, a 4-core Phenom II and a 560 Ti. The only thing that's still worth a damn about it is the card. I'm in the process of upgrading (i say that lightly, because it has been taking forever). But I'm pretty sure I should at least be hitting 20 FPS when everything is turned down as low as it can go. AC IV actually ran at 25-30 FPS for me on High. So seeing WD run the way it does was quite the shock at first.

I find the fact that Ubisoft watered down the PC version of Watch Dogs disgraceful. Not only because the graphics are worse than what was advertised (not that this is anything new, though), but also the fact that the framerate suffers severely from it for reasons I don't know. I'm sure everyone here is aware of the mod that makes the game look quite similar to the E3 2012/2013 footage. It creates some minor bugs but it isn't a big issue, really. One would assume that the mod results in a worse framerate. However, that isn't the case at all. In fact, it's quite the opposite - the framerate actually improves significantly, from what I've heard.

In other words, they handicapped the PC version for the sake of making it look similar to the PS4 and Xbox Ones releases, and it affects the performance negatively, probably to make the game more appealing to console players or something like that.

And that isn't even all. Far Cry 4 on the consoles will equal to PC at ultra settings. It will most likely take a High-End rig to play this game at ultra settings. Of course that has not been confirmed, but I wouldn't expect anything else. Then again, it is Ubisoft's CEO that claimed that PC has a piracy rate of roughly 95% a couple of years ago. Whatever, let's wait and see how it will turn out.

On another note, I had bought a new graphics-card a couple of weeks ago, specifically an MSI R9 280X Gaming 3G. Unfortunately, the card was faulty as it created artifacts while playing games, like GTA IV and Max Payne 3. I started Arma 3 a few days ago and it ran just fine at high-to-ultra settings with HDAO. Strange. I tested the GPU with some programs, like MSI Kombustor, Furmark and Heaven Benchmark and it seemed to work fine there. On the other hand, there was that weird flickering in 2D mode, and I figured out that it was caused by GPU core and/or VRAM clock jumps. Anyway, I decided to return the GPU yesterday and I'm waiting for the new card to arrive next week. If that one also produces artifacts and flickering, then I will probably return it and purchase a GTX770 instead.

I bought Skyrim yesterday and once I finally get my new card, I will try out some mods. The game looks incredibly stunning with the right mods, but I would like to use something that doesn't make use of high levels of DoF and bloom, as it shouldn't affect the gameplay. Or maybe I'll first try to play the vanilla game, though I heard it's quite buggy.

Did you ever try different drivers? I was getting artifacting with my R9 290 at first, but I haven't experienced any since installing the latest beta drivers.

I tested at least three or four different drivers, and updated the BIOS of the card and the motherboard. It changed little to nothing about the situation, unfortunately. R9 280X cards in particular are affected by this problem. They are just rebranded HD7970's, and certain partner models have an insane core [and VRAM] frequency, which is mostly the reason for them not working as intended. Either that or the GPUs use cheap Elpidia VRAM. The latter wasn't the case though, my card's memory was manufactured by Hynix.

I just had no luck. Hopefully, the next card will work fine. If it doesn't, I will try everything to get it to work just like the last time. Returning it is the last resort.

How good is the Acer Aspire E1-522 for gaming?

I would never recommend gaming on a laptop. Even if it's called a "gaming" laptop.

What program should I use to overclock my EVGA GTX 670? I've never dabbled in overclocking so I want to be careful with what I use.

Use EVGA Precision or better yet MSI Afterburner. They both do the same thing, but I find MSI Afterburner a bit easier to use.

When overclocking just be mindful of the heat and power consumption. Make sure your power supply will be able to give your card enough power at the higher clocks, and make sure your card doesn't go above 80C.

If you somehow find that the card is unstable at the higher clock speed, raise the voltage a tad. I've never overclocked a GTX 670 so I'm not sure what it's capable of running on stock voltage. Look around on Google first.

I think you got lucky. Even with my new upgrades I still couldn't hold 60 fps on Ultra. I was playing Stutter_Dogs within the first 5 minutes. I reinstalled Windows a week ago and haven't reinstalled the game. I can't be damned to deal with Ubisoft's sh*t anymore. The patch they came out with didn't do anything to resolve the problems I'm having. I can see why people are tagging AC: Unity and FC4 with "don't pre order" and "remember watch dogs" on Steam

Ubisoft can keep releasing broken ports on PC, but the community isn't going to take it sitting down. Sure you didn't have any problems, but the forums are filled with complaints + my personal experiences with it. Last Ubisoft game I'll buy, that's for sure.

Bring on Shadows of Mordor! I pre ordered it the same time as Watch Dogs last October. I've seen nothing but PS4 footage, but I just hope it'll run well on a 12 threaded Xeon, 12 GB of RAM and a GTX 760.
