I was loading up Half Life 2 for PC and it had Steam on there and multiple CD ROMs for HL2, now, I just didn't want to go through 5 discs loading the game, but how was Steam used way back then? I was told it was mainly for protecting software, transmitting your serial or something, but not required for the game??

I recently bought the humble bundle and used the steam key, got the games and the 2 bonus games you can get when you pay more than the average, now they added an extra game if you paid over average...how can I add this to steam? the steam product key is already used it says and nothing new is added

I just got Battlefield 3 and I'm really amazed by the optimization.

It's usually 60fps and drops to 30 here and there. Nothing too noticeable.

I feel exactly the same way. Racing games are f*cking boring as sh*t and even in GTA my least favourite missions are the racing ones.

In fact, cars racing in general is just boring. Go as fast as possible on the straights, don't spin out on the corners and don't crash; that's all there seems to be to it.

soooo, about 20 days I suppose and it's time for Steam xmas sales...what are you guys planning to buy? I didn't buy "Orcs must die" in the autumn sales but I might do so now in the xmas sales. I doubt there'll be any "big" titles with huge reductions yet (skyrim, SR TT etc...)

Oh definitely. It's still an amazing CPU. I have it, and it's running at 3.6Ghz. I didn't know there are gamers who didn't overclock Q6600. It's why people still buy it. Cheap and awesome.

You have a generally better card though don't you? It's just that his 2gb GTX460 has a significant performance boost compared to versions of the 460 with less memory.

Dude I honestly don't know, my card is one of the best from ATI but the tags for Nvidia cards confuse the hell out of me.

Unfortunately I'm on an OEM mobo right now.

I'll have to buy a conductive pen and do a BSEL mod if I want higher clocks on my CPU.

Anyways, it shouldn't be much of a problem for long. This fantastic CPU served me well for nearly 6 years and it's about time I get a new CPU like an i5 2500k.

Yeah, probably someone easily made that just to stir things up. Tho with that apparent code discovery a while ago, man am I hoping this thing, whether it be Episode 3 or a full Half-Life 3, is finally coming close to fruition.

 

My wild speculation would be an announcement at GDC or E3 2012, a release date for around this time next year, and then it gets pushed back to mid 2013
