Could you guys help me out here, I'm trying to get a new CPU for BF3 and later games but I'm really strapped on cash. I've been looking at the i5 2500K and think this might be a good buy. If I buy this would I be able to play on High - Very High settings along with my GTX460, because currently my Q8400 is the bottleneck of my system. I'm just waiting to make sure before I go ahead and buy it.

I guess you could just buy a new CPU cooler and learn to overclock your current one? The i5-2500k is a very good CPU, but you'll also need to buy a new motherboard and new RAM to support it, plus reinstall Windows.

I would try, but my Q8400 is pretty sh*t plus my mobo isn't the best so I wouldn't be able to get a good clock speed anyways, i've never been able to get past 3.5Ghz, even with a cooler. I'd rather upgrade and enjoy the performance boost. So i've just bought the i5 with a mobo and 8GB RAM. I was planning on reinstalling W7 to the 64x anyways so I suppose it's a welcome change.

Hooray, they're starting to offer downloadable game soundtracks on Steam now.

 

Unfortunately it looks like you need to own the game on Steam first before you can buy it.

Thank f*ck, I will stay as far away as possible from that plague they call DRM.

 

 

Looking forward to my i5 arriving tomorrow or the day after. But since I was low on cash when I bought it I've had to settle for a H61 motherboard, which is a big mistake because there is no overclocking potential in these chipsets whatsoever. All I'll be able to rely on for a boost is that Intel turbo boost and that only brings it up to 3.8Ghz from 3.3Ghz. People are able to get these i5's to 5Ghz almost on air, it's crazy! So the first thing I'll be doing is getting a P67 chipset motherboard once I get the money. I want to have this all sorted just in time for BF3.

Been giving Nightmare House 2 a whirl, and holy hell is this game scary. I already hated mannequins enough, damn it.

 

I have to say I'm legitimately impressed by the quality. The first Nightmare House was fun, but it was pretty obvious it was a Half Life 2 mod. This, though... damn, man. I mean damn.

DIdn't realize there were so many mods out already! Really cool stuff as well, makes the game so much nicer.

 

Got like 40 mods installed now, mostly gameplay changes.

Fallout and TES really do have some of the best modding communities out there. There's such a large number of quality mods you can spend hours searching, downloading and installing them.

Yep, though I do wonder how they are going to adapt to the new engine in Skyrim.

I don't really care how the game looks I just want a game from Bethesda that has a lower bug count, that would be nice, also to fix the terrible leveling system. But they usually do a good job with atmosphere and graphics.

 

Also I watched the Hard Reset gameplay it looked really good like a mix between System Shock and Quake.

Surprisingly Valve hasn't forgotten about normal games and releases Portal 2 DLC #1 in mid-september with some singleplayer and coop stuff and more.

Hey, I'm searching for some mafia/gangster themed games for PC. They don't have to be exactly newest on the market. I wouldn't mind playing games that came out after 2002, haha.

So far, I played GTA, Mafia series, Godfather, Made Man (it sucked), Hitman, Saints Row and maybe a few more.

They don't necessarily need to use free roam. Suggestions?

Does anyone know any games, that a major part of it is aircraft troop transport?

 

I love Halo's Pelican and the Troop Transport Falcons/Hogs.

 

I loved the VTOL from Mech Assault 2 (Dropping off the armor suits and supplies)

 

I love RTS games that have similar things.

 

The blackhawk in BF:BC2 is my best friend.

 

I like aircraft transports.

 

Does anyone happen to know any good games that have these that are fun to play?
