Hey guys I bought this new PC and specifications are:

Processor - Intel Core I5

Memory - 3 GB

Hard Drive - 1 Terabyte

Graphics - Intel HD 2000

Operating System - Win7 Home Premium

So is it good enough for GTA IV.

Like others have said you need a new graphics card.

Assuming your i5 is the 2500/K your set-up is (somewhat) similar to mine (the extra 5 gigs of RAM not taken into account, and running 7-Professional) most of the worlds geometry in IV was missing and only the car and street lamps were visible and FPS was <25 on LOW w/stutter (opening mission/ unpatched) while using the HD2000.

Nope 64-bit.

You're going to have a hard time running any game if you've got a 64-bit OS and only 3GB of RAM.

Nah, 3GB is the sweet spot for gaming I think. I've yet to find a non-MMO game that uses more than 2GB of RAM exclusively (aside from FSX?). Windows stops hogging alot of RAM when you're playing a game. tounge.gif

Not to mention you'll be able to use more than 512mb of (dedicated) video memory alongside that 3gb RAM with a 64bit OS.

You reckon? My PC has 4GB and GTA VI pretty slow on normal settings, mind you my pc is about 5 years old.

Hey fellas.

FXAA hook beta 5 has been thrown out. Now it works with some Source games, GTA4, some DX10 games and some securom games. Looks fantastic with GTA4 (better than morphological) at such little performance impact (less than morphological)!

Looks pretty damn amazing, did you tweak the settings though? The performance hit for me is massive, literally plays at 1fps.

I haven't done any tweaking whatsoever, I just dragged the files to my GTA4 directory and ran it. The only graphics mod I use (and had on) was UGT, which just changes the post process blur a little.

Only lost me 4fps in the 50-60fps range. That equates to around a 2fps loss in the 30fps range.

BETA 6:

http://hotfile.com/dl/125853856/6607130/in..._dude_6.7z.html

Thanks for the AA patch--now I get virtually no visual aliasing GTA IV yet the game runs just as well as normal.

Not sure if it's the right place to ask this, but what are some good Half Life 2 mods? Any popular websites?

Downloading Crysis demo, should work properly.

On an Intel graphics card?

That's very... optimistic, to put it politely.

Well, it worked but every 15 mins of gameplay, there is a minor lag.

Pretty sure there's only two of us on here who liked this mod, but Resistance and Liberation recently put out a new update which should get a few new players in there. Last time I checked a few months ago there were two guys playing. It's a fantastic mod if you're a fan of WWII and/or realistic games. Well it was a year ago. Dunno what it's like today. Gonna try out the new version now.

EDIT: Oooh, there's an Ardennes map in there and an updated Carentan map. I'm way more excited about this than I should be.

EDIT 2: Still a lot of fun!

Guys, I built an Intel H55 HD rig (BioStar) for gaming and most up to date as I have, it's growing old though, just sitting around, Since it was bought, the Sandy Bridge came out and was recalled, Mine is 1156 socket with an i3 CPU I bought, Dual core IIRC and hyper-threading, I put 4GB of DDR3 in it. It seems from what I read, a GOOD enough rig at present, but do I need to try and sell it and start the project again?? I really am not sure about dedicating to using it, since I bought Windows 7 and installed it, It's set with the OS but not invested into with programs and personal data

New version of RnL is shamefully sh*t eventhough it improved alot and polished alot. Laggy and full of retarded f*cks who keep on teamkilling you.

Though you can easily outsmart people now since they're horrible compared to the hardcore RnL players from "back in the day". Went on shortly today and I killed a bunch of enemies in one life as an agressive sniper. Easy smeasy.

Aside from some awful server lag, I had a good time. The game went back and forth and both teams had decent communication. Some prisoners were even taken, hah.

How about releasing updates as always? Never bothered me before. Or how about releasing a finished product that doesn't need patching? That would be new. There are no good sides to always-on DRM. They can still have the option of auto-update for those who want it without making those of us who don't want it connect every time we want to play.

Rockstar seem to be giving quite a bit of mod coverage recently, even more so than so actual PC gaming sites. People on their comments have also said how they want to get GTA IV for PC after seeing that stuff.

I hope this is a sign that Rockstar are taking more notice of the platform.

I wish I bought BGI have BGII and TOB.

Imagine picking up a game and it's automatically updated.

There was a game I played like that now what was it called?... Oh yeah, Star Craft II the stupid game would automatically download new updates every time you start the game. Took forever to actual start playing the game.

Mods are one of the bigger selling points. That's why I don't understand why Rockstar doesn't support PC platform more. It seems like they're missing the left brain hemisphere responsible for logic and math. They only have the right brain hemisphere responsible for creativity and ideas.

Nah, I think Rockstar just wants to keep on profiting off of that half-assed PC port of GTA IV. It doesn't mean they are aspiring to doing anything meaningful to the PC platform anymore.

Besides, I think Rockstar is missing both sides of the brain. Where is this creativity you are talking about? All I see is "HEY NIKO, YOU WANNA GO BOWLING" and "THERE AIN'T NO PERSON WHO DESERVES TO GET EATEN BY ZOMBIES". How in the f*cking Brown Thunder is THAT creative?!? dozingoff.gif

Creating video games is a creative process by the very definition. It doesn't have to be artistic and it doesn't have to have a deep meaningful story to rival Dostoyevsky's 'Brothers Karamazov".

Creating video games is a creative process

How is this a difficult concept?

EDIT: I'll try to elaborate a little more: to CREATE a video game you need CREATIVITY. GTA IV is not a creative game in the sense that SimCity 3000 is, but CREATING takes CREATIVITY. Hope it's all crystal clear now.

Well some people seem to have a hard time understanding that. We're not all born with an innate talent for obvious.

Could you guys help me out here, I'm trying to get a new CPU for BF3 and later games but I'm really strapped on cash. I've been looking at the i5 2500K and think this might be a good buy. If I buy this would I be able to play on High - Very High settings along with my GTX460, because currently my Q8400 is the bottleneck of my system. I'm just waiting to make sure before I go ahead and buy it.
