The problem with voxels and such things like that is that the RAM and space usage is VERY, VERY high.

It will be a long time until this will be possible in games.

I also don't like how they call it atoms, unlimited detail and other sh*t.

Hell, it's nothing new, the "atoms" are pretty much voxels. The only difference is that voxels are rendered as squares/cubes.

 

It'll be great when it's possible for games (maybe within the next 5 years?) but it won't be now.

FXAA hook beta 5 has been thrown out. Now it works with some Source games, GTA4, some DX10 games and some securom games. Looks fantastic with GTA4 (better than morphological) at such little performance impact (less than morphological)!

With GTA4, it will startup with a black screen till you start playing. Don't worry about that, just keep hitting enter till you get ingame & the menus work fine then. Looks really good:

true, but the price isn't the main thing i'm concerned about, it's that i've been waiting ofr dead island a long time and I don't like buying lots of games all at the same time and since I'm definitely getting f1 2011 which comes out i nseptember also, pre ordering ro2 would mean waiting even longer to play dead island.

i made a dota topic in the games section here but it wasn't succesful but ah well..DotA is one of my favourite games requiring strategy, teamwork and some daring

So I just tried the demo for Limbo, wow it's good. Definitely going to buy this one. It's so simple yet so .. atmospheric.

People say it's only upscaled 720p at 1080p but honestly, I really don't care. The soft blur really does benefit an eary game like this and there is next to no aliasing. So I'm happy.

I am dissapoint about GTAForum members showing 0 interest in the new Carmageddon, the game that has created the roots for most free roam games.

 

Now I understand some of you are too young to have played it, but come on now, half of the people pretend they don't even know what it is or never heard of it or go: "Wasn't that when the freeway 405 closed down?" NO! WRONG!

 

THe modding community is still active after more than 13 years after the release, mainly because everyone wants to run over people with their own creations. Here's a video of Carmageddon 2 with mods.

 

 

 

Anyway here is some information.

Looks pretty damn amazing, did you tweak the settings though? The performance hit for me is massive, literally plays at 1fps.

Maybe so for action games, but definitely not for racing/driving games, which is a big part of the first GTA's, racing around.

 

I'm glad Carmageddon is back to Stainless, let's hope they can fix the crap that was TDR2000

Oblivion and Morrowmind are both 14,99 aswell

Just some advice, it's better to buy Morrowind from retail rather than off Steam if you're looking to mod it. Steam limits the modding capabilities in some ways and causes some problems.

Looks pretty damn amazing, did you tweak the settings though? The performance hit for me is massive, literally plays at 1fps.

I haven't done any tweaking whatsoever, I just dragged the files to my GTA4 directory and ran it. The only graphics mod I use (and had on) was UGT, which just changes the post process blur a little.

 

Only lost me 4fps in the 50-60fps range. That equates to around a 2fps loss in the 30fps range.

In other news, for the more newer PC players, (I say that because the old farts probably already own these games) I have Day of Defeat Source and Counter-strike Source guest passes on Steam. The time limit for me to send them expires soon so first two to PM me get them. I believe its a 3 day pass each. First one gets to choose ;o

Maybe on absolute lowest settings at ~30fps. Intel HD 2000 isn't that great for gaming.

Intel graphics suck, most games can't run on them or give you really sh*tty graphics. And Im guessing that you have the 32bit Windows 7 since you only have 3 gigs pf ram. How much did you pay for this PC?

You're going to have a hard time running any game if you've got a 64-bit OS and only 3GB of RAM.

Nah, 3GB is the sweet spot for gaming I think. I've yet to find a non-MMO game that uses more than 2GB of RAM exclusively (aside from FSX?). Windows stops hogging alot of RAM when you're playing a game.

 

Not to mention you'll be able to use more than 512mb of (dedicated) video memory alongside that 3gb RAM with a 64bit OS.
