And bad company 2's movement/shooting feels really sluggish and that can get annoying at times. It's not fast and responsive like Call of Duty which is a shame. I guess it's an alright game though, have only played a couple matches.

Battlefield =/= COD.

If you want to run and gun you should stick to COD, because you actually need teamwork and practice in BC2 to get used to the weapons.

@Pat: Would you rather get fired telling the hipster bieber kid that it's free or keep your job?

Tbh the whole game just feels sluggish to me. The guns bounce around like crazy and movement is slow. I'll try playing it a bit more and see if I can get over it. Hope so.

Movement, slow? You do know you're not some hyperactive supersoldier who's trained to shoot at enemies on shoebox sized battlefields (maps)?

Lol, I see you're pulling the ''that's just realistic'' card eh? Well to be honest I don't really care if a game is realistic or not, I play them to have fun. But like I said I'll have to play some more matches, it'll probably grow on me anyway.

Aand Bioshock 1 must be the worst built game ever. Still can't play it, after fixing the no sound issue I couldn't change the resolution so after googling for another 30 mins I found a solution and it worked.. only to have the game freeze after playing for a minute or two. Seriously, what the f*ck??

maybe your computer just can't handle it, have you checked the minimum requirements?

Blackadder.

I guess whilst we're on the topic of BF vs CoD I was arguing with a friend the other day who seems to think MW2 is the next coming of Christ and these were a few of his reasons why MW2 is good/better than BC2.

1. Modern Warfare 2 sold more.

2. It has emblems in Multiplayer.

3. You can quickscope and noscope etc in MW2.

4. MP gets way better when you play it for a while.

Well, he does have a point there with the emblems. Not much of a game if I can't draw cartoon dicks and swastikas on my gun.

Yeah, my PC can handle Bad Company 2 at max settings so I don't think it won't be able to handle Bioshock... It's just poorly built.

Yeah you may have missed the part about the kid shoving fireguy out of the way, combined with the "designer" clothes part leads me to believe he is a spoilt little brat.

You may have missed the part about not being a total prick just because you don't like the way the kid dresses. I don't care who you are, and I don't care how you feel about the person in question, if you stand idly by while someone unnecessarily spends money, and then take solace in the fact that you could have prevented it and did not, you are a tremendous asshole. This goes for fireguy109 and everyone who advocates his decision.

I think OTB was talking about the guy trying to sell it to the kid, although I don't know for sure.

You know what? I probably am a jerk for doing that. Scratch that, I definitely am a jerk for doing that. But you know what? If it's his money, he can spend it the way he wants. I've tried talking people out of buying stuff before (at that same store even). For example, one time this guy and his kid- probably 4th or 5th grade, glasses, looked like a good kid- walked in when I was browsing the PS2 section. The guy was searching for San Andreas- there was one I had just seen so I grabbed it and gave it to him. Trying to be polite and make small talk, I said, "I hear that's a great game, I think you'll enjoy it". He said "oh, it's for my son. He plays that stuff with his brother all the time". I said "Sir, from what I've read there is some adult content within that game. Are you sure your son will be okay with it?" He looked at me and said "thanks for grabbing this" and walked away and bought it. He was saying something to his kid and the clerk, but I couldn't hear it. He looked over at me though, as did the guy at the counter.

That's why I don't try to help *random* people *at stores* or talk to them anymore. It never seems to work out.

Valve are god damn genius. They make TF2 free which causes a lot of people on consoles to try it out. This means they had to sign up to Steam, so a couple weeks later when the sale hit, all these new people see it. Money galore.

I don't know how I didn't notice earlier but damn, hats off to Valve.

thanks for mentioning that here, now i got it free...had my eyes on it for a while, but i'm greedy tounge.gif (and it's hard for me to pay for steam games etc since i got no visa and an empty paypal smile.gif)

after i got it, do i need to spend money on it too? confused.gif just wondering

No..

But if you buy something in the store for 50 cent or something, the game will be considered a purchased copy, with zero restrictions.

wow, well done valve smile.gif ah well, it's a fantastic game they say so maybe i'll do it once, still..gotta get my paypal loaded xD

So... In case any of you doesn't read L4D blog, well...

Basically, if you earn a new achievement on L4D2, you'll get a summer ticket, but what's much more important, if more than 20.000 people get the achievement, we will get Dead Air early... Not much of a prize, but some people might apreciate it... Also time to demostrate we can pull off these kinds of feats for something that is not Portal tounge.gif

Still really want Fallout 3 :<

Haven't you played it yet? Get it. It's a great game with a brilliant atmosphere and an interesting take on Fallout lore. The main RPG mechanics are a lot more unbalanced than New Vegas but the atmosphere and random encounters in the wastes are something it has over NV.

Also, after you've played through it a few times, the heavily supported mods on Fallout 3 Nexus will have you coming back for more.

In case nobody noticed, Fallout is my favourite series.

Oh god no. I played FO3 only for 5 hours, and most of that time was uselessly trying to find important character at probably just beginning if the game. Then I understood how repetitive everything was and uninstalled the game.

I'm preferring Stalker series over this anytime, because it entertains me much more and all three stories are thrilling.

Bought the trilogy on Steam for one's price, yet I have 2 of them on dvd. Well, still got spare one, right?

Just in case, I'm watching FO3 let's play videos now, to see how far I was im game.

Fallout 3 is a great game, you just need to get into the world and do sh*t. The storyline is great anf gets you into the whole thing, but thats not where the game shines, as d0mm said, its living world and random encounters are what make the game awesome. The game world is so massive, theres so much to explore, so many people to meet/kill, so many stories to be told.

That being said, I dont really understand your petty complaints. Too hard to find people? Repetitive?

Not only are objectives marked on the compass which makes it incredibly easy to find people, but the game is in no way repeptitive. Try different characters, melee characters play completly differently to gun characters or stealth characters; missions change drastically depending on what you are playing.

I take it you called it repetitive because after using VATS a few times it kinda looked the same? Which of course, isnt necessarly wrong, but is extremly narrow minded.

I'm not sure if you were mentionning stalker outside of your argument, but if you wernt, comparing it to stalker isnt the way to enjoy Fallout 3. Dont get me wrong, Stalker is probably my favorite FPS ever, but they are nothing alike and expecting the same things from one when playing the other is a deffinite way to be dissapointed.

Lulz at jelly.

Compass in FO3 was retarded, it showed me inacessible place, even from ground or even subway levels. Unless you can fly in that game - I never could get to needed place and explored all the wasteland instead.

What made me go rage mode was that I also missed the chance to nuke the Megaton by accident.

So just because you fail to understand the (piss easy/'tard friendly) gameplay mechanics the game blows? I feel sorry for you...

To be fair the best one out of all the Steam Punk characters is the Mister Foster one, which you can get through achievements anyway. The rest look sorta naff apart from the Pilot looking one in my opinion. Though now I have Steampunk Foster I'm not gonna use any other characters on KF for a while.

But it's free so I want it. And apart from the TF2 item there aren't any items/free stuff to unlock that suit me (in short: don't have the games).

I doubt people will appreciate the mod, but god I love PC gaming.

Epic Star Wars FPS mod for Call of Duty 4. For some reason the CoD4 gameplay feels even better in a Star Wars universe. Certainly more than worth checking.

Shadow of Chernobyl is the best in the series so far. And it's the first one. You can mod the sh*t out of it too. There are some pretty extreme graphical overhauls on ModDB.

I installed that yesteday but couldn't get into any of the servers, I also have spent 9 tickets so far and haven't even got the kf chaacters yet, that's definitely next on my list, the l4d2 and kf tickets yesterday were easy and the demo ticket was glitched I think because I got it without playing a demo.

Shadow of Chernobyl: http://store.steampowered.com/app/4500/

For your first go, all you really need is the Complete 2009 mod: http://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-complete-2009 ~ Fixes a load of bugs and overhauls the graphics and such, adding a few good features while keeping the core gameplay intact and mostly only enhancing the atmosphere. There's also 'Complete' mods for the other two games, but the CoP version has serious problems last I looked.

Anyway, the starting area is nice and safe (well, maybe not so 'nice' wink.gif), and the small opening missions allow you to gradually get into things. Since it has a day/night cycle, you can obviously avoid venturing out at night if you so choose, initially perhaps. However, later on, to advance you will be forced to go into deep, dark undergound areas with atmosphere and monsters that'll surely test you, but as said things will build up to that, so you should be fine...hopefully biggrin.gif Just take your time, my first playthrough was about 80hrs, and save often.

FYI, in order of release the series goes: Shadow of Chernobyl -> Clear Sky -> Call of Pripyat. Chronologically within the series it's: CS -> SoC -> CoP. If you choose and manage to complete SoC tounge.gif, play CS next.

The star of the show is The Zone itself, but the story/lore is to be enjoyed as well.

Good hunting, stalker icon14.gif

I myself started with last game of the trilogy, Call of Pripyat and then 2nd game, Clear Sky, and finished with first one. Pretty much everything reverse.

If you want to understand the story, you should start with Clear Sky, because it's prequel to Shadow of Chernobyl and yet most of the players think it was longer than SoC ala original, I think it was shorter, because those others probably haven't done sidequests which affect the multiple endings. In Clear Sky you get way less endings, because the game is meant to be the beginning of story and can't alter things kuch for continuity.

My verdict is to start with Clear Sky and don't even touch Call of Pripyat until you finish SoC and CS because it has bare connection with other games storywise. You know, keep the sweet things for the end.

Supreme pretty much explained everything on basics, but my post shows different opinion.

Eh, yeah, going with CS first could, theoretically, kinda, be better, in that way, maybe, I suppose tounge.gif, tho I disagree.

I say start with SoC not just because it was the first released, but also playing CS next is very important story-wise in how you gradually discover things alluded to and left to be wondered about previously in SoC, right up to the revealing ending. Still, it's up to you smile.gif

The first (and only one) I've played is Call of Pripyat and I never really got into it.

Eventually I will buy the other two games and play them properly, along with the complete mod.

For the Stalker games, you NEED to play them in order of release. CS being a prequel does not mean you should play it first, and in NO WAY should you play CoP first, thats just a bad idea.

The one I've had the most fun of is CS for sure, then its a close second between the 2 others, they are pretty different and good for different reasons.

The music is so minimalistic and eary.. and it's suits fantastically. Must be one of my favourite soundtracks despite being so dark & ambient.
