Machiavelli's Prophecy

Just bought Bioshock 1 & 2. Only played the first 10 mins of Bioshock 1 and never played Bioshock 2 so hope they're dope. Only 10 bucks too so pretty cheap.

BioShock 1 has a brilliant story and great atmosphere with some cool gameplay. The sequel mostly sucks and especially on PC, due to the high amount of annoying bugs and pointless loading pauses.

Worth the buy though.

sad.gif Well, gonna start with Bioshock 1 first, hope the bugs aren't that bad in the 2nd one. But even if they are, only 5 wasted bucks so no problem

The second was mostly just a cash-in from the first, made by a different studio. The bugs in it aren't game-breaking but they're tedious and consistent, such as my game settings been set to default whenever I load a save and sh*tty GFWL crashes.

Haven't brought myself to finish the game.

Waiting for Bioshock Infinite instead.

Has anyone out here tried the new DirectX 11 + ' High resolution textures' patch by Crytek, for Crysis 2 ?

i tried the so-called 'Ultra' graphics settings using the latest patch, patch 9 ..Not bad.

i'll download the dx11+HResolution textures pack tomorrow..

I've used it but I've had problems with my overclocks been reset and Crysis 2 crashing after 10 minutes of playing. The high res textures look nice and the graphical details are quite nice to have but they aren't amazing.

I can also find a lot of places where the new DX11 should have been used but weren't, inducing disappointment. I'm glad Crytek bothered though and I hope people come up with some nice maps with the modding tools; something more open and less corridor than Crysis 2.

Like where? As far as I've seen they have added tessellation displacement maps in almost every area that it would make a fair difference. My poor 5850 goes from 45fps on Extreme DX9 to 18fps avg on Ultra DX11. And it looks great.

I think I worded that entirely wrong, since it wasn't the DX11 at all. In patch 1.9 they introduced 'real-time local reflections' for both DX versions which led me to believe they would replace the 'fake' reflections on cars and buildings with real time ones, since this was a quirk I had with the game initially. They didn't.

The DX11 implementation is awesome and the only disappointment I have is that the game now crashes shortly after playing. Hope to get that fixed so I can start messing around with modding tools.

Completly misread the thing, darn you steam and not-so-clear writing about games

CJZera' date='Sunday, Jul 3 2011, 21:06'] So... Is there anyone here who would be up for trying to get that Summer sale achievement for L4D2 which requires getting 2500 points on Dark Carnival? It's pretty much impossible to do alone...

I'm intrigued, tell me more. Note however that I won't be able to do it until the 6th at the earliest, I have to work tomorrow and the day after.

I played on the killing floor summer map yesterday for about an hour, such a great map and the new zombies are classic too.

Steam appears to be making gaming on PC more popular, which is very good in terms of future games being released for PC. biggrin.gif

Definitely, it makes getting games so convenient, that was one of the troubles of pc gaming, it was very difficult to find the PC games you want at a local games shop, this way you can get great value for money with your games.

Is a interesting game, but the singleplayer won't keep you occupied for a while, takes about 3-4 hours to complete.

3 - 4 hours! That is quite short for a game. Ideally I'm after something that might keep me occupied for a bit longer then that, however with being very active in Minecraft 3 to 4 hours might be a suitable time limit.

It's £4 or so, so I may take the plunge and go for it. My next question is what does anyone recommend to the tropico series? Again £3 and I've heard people mention them before.

I recommend you try the demo before you buy it. wink.gif

Today I'm thinking of getting the Arma 2 pack, not sure yet though. Another game I might get is Trackmania United. I've always wanted to get that game and it seems fairly cheap at the moment.

Downside is that I can't really try the demo until I get home from work, and by then the todays sales will have ended sad.gif

I haven't even tried the demo, but I heard quite a bit of bad about it and the first one was complete and utter crap.

However if you're really inclined to try it then I say go for it. If you don't like it then £4 isn't really much of a loss considering you make more than that in one hour (unless you are under minimum wage!). smile.gif

Bloody Alien vs Predator is 15gb! only at 16% after an hour and a half. -_-

I'll have to do some research about it, and see what I think to it. What is your opinion on Kane and Lynch?

Keeping it short, I liked it along with the unique style of graphics and effects used, but like I said, if you're alright with a short campaign then get it, multiplayer can also add a few hours.

I tried the kane and lynch 2 demo a while ago and didn't really like it that much, I found it a bit clunky and slow.

Paying money for downloading games.

Oh god, that's hilarious.

I would never buy a download on Steam, if I want a game I'll buy it in a store so I actually OWN it.

What if you can't buy a game physically though? Stores round here have a TERRIBLE selection for PC games, what about hames that are Digital Release Only? Such as on going episodes made by TellTale Games, etc? And then again, what about deals? Steam do insane deals at times that just can't be done in actual shops unless they're clearing stock and desperate.

When you get a game from steam, granted you don't get a hard copy, but you get great prices, and like mentioned above it is so easy to find just about any game you want, and you don't have to worry about losing/damaging discs.

If you have a good internet connection steam is really convenient as well.

And you never OWN the game anyway. You own the licence to play the game the publishers can revoke your right to play their games at any time.

So, um, Gears of War 3 is out on torrents. Remember when Gearbox said how piracy is a big problem for PC? How can people still ignore console piracy?

On Steam you don't even own your COPY of the game. It's in EULA. Retail version can be traded / sold etc.

But from digitals publishers get more money (and a lot more if the game is >1 year old) than from retail.

Oh no, you're hilarious. I've only seen two of your posts so far and both have made you seem like either a troll or a retard.

I've got hundreds of hours of entertainment from these games that I 'don't own', and most of them I bought as discount prices <£10-£5. I don't care if I don't own them. If Steam went under or unfairly revoked my games, I'd just torrent the good games anyways.
