Get this spinpoint F3. Very fast harddrive at an extremely good price. £43 for 1TB.

So I became sick of the aliasing present in Borderlands and decided to try a rather new AMD-only feature. The morphological AA feature makes me proud to be the owner of a 5000 card. Why force antialiasing that does a worse job with more performance hit when you can have better results on some games (notably borderlands)?

Borderlands (note the framerates)

Normal [no built in AA] / 8x MSAA / MLAA

The only problem is it makes some games slightly blurred.. but luckily nowhere near as bad as PS3's quincunx AA.

So has the gtx460 improved the performance of games, does gta IV run smoother now.

I'm getting really inpatient with steam now, it keeps pausing my download so it's taking twice as long.

PC gaming is dead, so it's kind of strange their servers are overloaded. And yeah, it can be a bitch sometimes.

Very, i used to have to play Metro 2033 on lowest settings at a low resolution, now i'm playing it on full settings (DX9) on 1440 x 900 (native resolution)

Haven't got around to trying IV because when i installed it i only had 2MB of HDD space left. Everything else though has been full settings with 60+ FPS, Apart from Mafia 2 which stays the same around 45 and dips to 20 FPS. Have tons of pics to upload though. smile.gif

Turn Physx to low and Antialiasing off. Mafia 2 uses some really sh*tty AA that doesn't really do anything to improve the jaggies because it's masked by that icky blur. wink.gif

I'm currently running it on ultra high at 1920x1080 on a GTX460 and, well, it's struggling. Could probably do with another gig or so of VRAM but 2033 is a proper power hungry beast- probably the most system intensive game on the market at the mo.

Definitely. Maybe it's because i play at 1440 x 900? Have you tried overclocking yours? In MSI Afterburner you can get up to a stable 845Mhz Clock.

My friend manages to mostly max it in DX11 with his slightly overclocked Sapphire 5770 at 1080p, from what I've seen in person at-least; a couple of stutters here and there, but from what I watched of him playing it, it was almost completely smooth. He just upgraded with a second GPU in Crossfire as a self-christmas-present the other day so now he should be able to get it running flawlessly (which isn't really relevant).

Getting Metro 2033 and Crysis running beautifully, whilst maxed out, is my ultimate goal for when I get to building a real PC and jump ship from this half-broken Asus-laptop/desktop-hybrid-monster-thing I'm using as both a primary desktop and gaming rig to much distress.

Just out of curiosity any reason why you won't take advantage of the steam sale for Crysis ? You can pick up Crysis for £2.49 or Crysis + Crysis Warhead for £6.24 . I think you will be hard pushed to find any retail shop doing Crysis for lower than that tounge2.gif . If you want to check out the deal on steam then here is the link :-

Well, a retail version doesn't help your HDD space and you could purchase it off Steam during the sale,

but not download it until your limit resets.
