The ridiculous awesome priced STEAM SALES? I think that only sums up why STEAM > XBOXLIVE FOR PC.

I mean come on. For 50 eurodollars I could've bought more than 10 games last 11 months. Including some popular and really great (online) games.

I'm wondering that now Microsoft has GfWL Marketplace, does this mean any new (or existing?) GfWL games won't be coming to Steam?

Since many publishers have ditched their platform, the only GFWL exclusives as I can see them would be some lame console ports. I.e. nothing to get worried about.

I am really trying to work out what the actual incentive is to use the GFW store. It seems that currently the new store only supports 6 countries, the prices are either the same or more expensive than other DD services and nearly all the games on the service are 6 months old or even older (minus 1 or 2 exceptions).

In short everything that GFW's is has already been done bigger, better and cheaper elsewhere so why in gods name would any one use it ? I am all for more competition in the market place but at least try to be competitive or actually bring something different to the table, Jesus.

I doubt that DiRT 3 and GRID 2 will be lame console ports.

I'm puzzled as to how Steam's "DRM" affects anyone in any way.

Even though by all technicalities, it is, it's very un-intrusive.

It affects me much. First - broken offline mode so I (and many many other people) can't log in and play without internet (in this case Steam DRM = Ubisoft DRM).

Second - broken autoupdate system so now I'm forced to use a crack to play my legally bought GTA III. On Steam you're forced to play with the latest update even if you don't want.

Steam DRM is OK only when it replaces even more stupid DRM as TAGES or EA's SecuROM. When the game is DRM-free then it's stupid to prefer Steam DRM version over DRM-free version.

Pardon me for not being a Valve/Steam slave. I'm a gamer and consumer who hates all DRM systems.

Most Steamworks titles are not what keeps me on Steam anyway, so I can't gather what is it you're trying to say. Apart from "steam sucks and I want everyone to feel my pain bu-f*cking-hoo" drivel. You don't like it? Great, don't use it then, wtf is your problem? In case of Steamworks exclusives you'll have to make a choice of either using the system or not, but since most of those games suck anyway, I really don't see the problem.

Nice to see you mention games coming from genre's that haven't introduced anything remotely new in the past 10 years.

I'd very much like to see a screen capture video summarizing your inability to start Steam in offline mode, have seen some Steam bashers dick around with that argument and none of them managed to prove their point.

The auto update feature is indeed broken and it should stay the f*ck off when you tell it to. But, just for kicks, let's review the games that one would actually like to play in some downgraded version as the updates break more stuff then they fix, shall we.

GTA SA - the 2.0 version bullsh*t initiated by the coffee cup fiasco

GTA III - broken (newer OS issue?)

GTAIV - numerous possibilities

So, Steam is to blame some lame devs (like the ever so great R*) couldn't squeeze out a working update to save their f*cking lives?

QFT. The perfect example has been the continual rolling fixed for New Vegas. They're updating it at an astronomical rate and I'd much rather have Steam sort its own content than have to faff about on the incomprehensible Bethesda website. If the functions on your game don't work properly, it's the game developers fault, not Steam's. Saying it is is like buying a game from EB or the like and then blaming the seller that it doesn't work on your machine.

Yeah yeah the only crying baby is you and your Steamfag friends. Haven't you forget to make a Sacrifice to "Great leader" Gabe? If you're OK with being treated like a criminal then go on.

This forum is just for you.

Actually all these problems appeared for me with a new Steam pre-beta client. I have less problems with offline mode and Steam performance in 2009 (and you could turn off autoupdates I think).

That's another thing. I blame Steam and Live that they force you to install updates even if they're broken. Well on Live you can refuse but you'll have to play offline. On Steam it's possible too but you must be a lucky guy who has working offline mode.

Fags? Well, you certainly manage to prove your point.

And if you are using a test client version and having issues with, well

I think what he's trying to say is that Steam isnt as awesome as some people are trying to make it look. And Live isnt nearly as bad as your trying to make it seem. And I agree completly, too many fanboys around here.

ROFL @ steamfags, seriously how old are you Street Mix ?

Anyway I propose that we start up an international steamfag pride march, who is with me ? The official chant will be :-

We're here, we're queer, we want games as cheap as beer (please see note)

(note this chant is not applicable in the UK where beer is anything but f*cking cheap)

Steam has 30 million customers, you don't get 30 million customers by being as sh*t as some on here (ok it's only street mix) makes out. This topic is not full of fanboys, yes there is a certain Steam bias because this is a topic for PC gamers and the vast majority like steam. The only time there is ever a problem is the minute someone mentions steam then BANG in comes Street Mix to insult and attack any one that likes using steam.

Activision is closing down a bunch of studios. Bizzare creations is one of them. They aren't really PC developers but some games they did release on PC I really liked. The most recent one 007: Blood Stone I absolutely loved. And if this means there will be no sequel to Blood Stone then I'm f*ckin' pissed!

Of course there will be a sequel to Blood Stone, it's a Bond game, the James Bond franchise is huge, it just won't be by the same developer.

Any list on which Activision studios are being closed?

All I know is that they closed Bizzare Creations and Budcat Creations. Budcat creations employees came to work one monrning and they told them that they're fired. No previous notice, they just told them to pack their sh*t and go.

I guess they had their hands full, this is Activision we're talking about.

It seems Activision didn't actually close down Bizzare just yet. They are looking into some other options. They are considering selling the studio. I wonder if EA will buy it because EA makes NFS and these guys make good racing games.

To answer to the complains about Steam, if you don't manage to get offline working, re-download the client ad problem solved...

Jeez, where did all the people who tried to fix the problem before bitching go... Besides they also distribute some mods, they actually have free stuff and care about their customers...

Now none of those even got close to a description of Live aka attempt to consolize PCs...

Activision selling/closing down studios... interesting, didn't see this happening just yet...

So, I just saw this article about rumours of Rockstar Games (yes, you read correctly) making a good-quality PC game.

http://www.rockstarwatch.net/news/1037/Roc...-on-a-PC-title/

I mean, I'm definitely going to buy it if it uses the new RAGE engine - but how it was meant to be at release.. dx10+ and well optimized.

Surprising news, hopefully it is an actual new PC-developed game and not just a port of RDR.

You know what would be cool? A Dx10 or Dx11 version of RDR.

Holy sh*t what if they're making the next GTA in Dx11? I know the chances are very low but what if?

Dx11 is overrated I think. I don't know what features of the API would be implemented in a GTA. Tessellation? Perhaps cards in 2012 will actually be able to handle unigine heaven scale extreme tessellation (of roofs, floors etc) at a constant framerate.

regardless, I'd be happy with a DX10+ version of both RDR and/or GTA5.

Ha yeah 1 PC programmer, that sounds about right, probably going to give the poor sod the entire job of porting RDR to the PC tounge2.gif . I no longer really have any interest in any of Rockstars products. Until we actually see a decent PC version being released at the same time as the console versions then they won't see a damn penny out of me. (hey you asked wink.gif )

I can't remember the last time R* originally released a good PC game. Max Payne (the first one)?
