but then again, I've played games at 15fps for like 2 years on my old laptop.

i'm so used to low frame rates with playing gta 4 so much that 20fps seems like 60 to me so i'm not bothered about anything below around 15fps

Anyway, it's a piss take when you can't use your expensive graphics card to it's full potential because of another component.

Judging on my eyes and the average fps I'm used to, I'd say 40ish is probably the sweet-spot for me, so ideally a minimum of that.

I consistently play games at around fifteen FPS. It's a chore, but I'm still playing the game and I'm enjoying it so it's worth it to me. I mean sh*t, TF2 jumps between eighty to eight FPS and it's a pain, yet I've put more time into it than any other FPS I've ever played.

I constantly played it with single digit FPS. Lots of times around 5 or below (especially after I started modding). Good ole Dell E310. 20 was probably the best I ever got.

I get an average of 28 FPS from Mafia II, I'm not complaining because it looks beautiful... lol

It's not like I never played games below 15FPS. In SA I used to pull 18, in Oblivion I did about 14 and still had a good time. But those frames are just too low to enjoy the game properly.

i was stunned when i first played mafia 2, it looked so great and i had such high graphics settings i thought i was getting above 40fps, then it turned out i was getting 27 and i couldn't see what all the fuss about games having less than 30fps was about

When you get 40fps in Mafia 2 you'll notice the difference.

When you get 40fps in Mafia 2 you'll notice the difference.

Same goes with 30 going to 60fps. For me it makes it so much more enjoyable as you don't have to deal with stuttering, mouse lag and framerate fluctuations.

And I complained when New Vegas went to around 15fps inside The Tops Casino...

 

I'm not really used to any fps below 30, should I get less than that I cut down the resolution/AA/Whatever fancy thing is making the game unplayable...

I also remember the first time I put ENB in SA on this comp and I was amazed at the lack of low fps...

 

How can you guys aim at low fps anyways? When my game lags I just can't hit the target...

 

Which also brings me to my point that I f*cking HATE my ISP for having so crappy internet overloaded with buttloads of people doing nothing more than chatting with eachother, cluttering the bandwidth for people like me who actually use the internet for something you can't do in person... Try airblasting a rocket in TF2 at 200ish ping and you'll see what's hard...

Playing at 30-17 fps for most new games gets you used to low framerate aiming..

The main problem for me is I cant do anything to make my fps higher; even on lowest graphics it stays at the exact same framerate because I am dealing with a CPU-bottleneck as a pose to GPU bottleneck.

 

 

Low framerate is killing my playing skill on Bad Company 2 multiplayer. It drops down to the 20's frequently in big games and I can't aim with the unpredictable stutter, no matter how much practice. Can't wait to upgrade to an i5.

There are i5 quads as well, for instance, the i5 760 is a quad.
