It's not PC elitism or fanboism. It would be just as generous if it was user created content for any other system.

 

Who cares whether it benefits you? Judging by your response you haven't done anything that would warrent rewarding from Valve so it shouldn't.

Nothing about fanboyism here, just people saying that valve are a good company and saying that they are good for passing on royalties for community created content. It must be very hard for a company to part with checks for $49,000 in two weeks, and potentially have to do it again within another few weeks.

 

Your question was utter crap, shows you are selfish and do not understand the situation. If you are not going to add anything meaningful or accuse everyone of being fanboys of the PC again I suggest you leave this topic under your own free will.

You didn't ask a normal question - not being able to appreciate unusual generosity, kindness and general folksiness from a large game developer, and rather asking why should care if it doesn't directly benefit you is more sociopathic than anything.

How about the guys who've created REAL mods like Portal Prelude, Portal Still Alive PC version, PVK2, Age of Chivalry, Synergy, DIP RIP etc.? They should get $1 million from "kindness and generous" Valve.

 

Not to mention that Valve earned much more from these little microtransactions (and they're giving to modders only little part of it) so Gabe can buy himself another yacht or island near Dubai. Yeah so generous...

Those 'real' mods you've just mentioned are FREE, meaning valve make no money from them, and neither do the creators. What valve are doing are giving royalties to people who have created content which is then being SOLD in valves TF2 store.

 

Valve could quite easily take all the money made from selling of the content. But instead they opted to pay the creators a royalty for every unit sold. It could be something like 2% of the cost of the item goes to the creator. So to get a check for $49,000 means that they've sold a ton of them.

i don't get the point in buying special edition games, it costs usually twice the price, or in this case 3 times the price for a different box, some artwork and sometimes a sh*tty dlc, just a rip off in my opinion

I'll explain the situation anyways...

 

In TF2, you can get weapons randomly after some time of playing, they just "drop" at random for you to use, however, people that doesn't wish to wait can just buy them, and since some weapons are community-submitted, the money people paid for them goes to their creators...

And I wouldn't call it generosity because USERS pay to TF2 modders, not Valve from their own pocket.

Mod sites usually have a donation link. Most of them actually don't do it for profit, though.

Because I have a 4850, amd 7750 @ 3.1, 2gb of ram, and I could run AC2 at max 1680x1050 no prob, although I have to admit that sometimes but this is very rare that it will dip below 25fps(21-25) but nothing I would notice unless fraps is on.

 

But I only made it half way or 2/3rds through the game, never bothered finishing it. I also never noticed any pop-ins though. It ran better than the first game for me.

I should note that "bad FPS" in my opinion is anything less than 60fps. I average about 37fps however, and that coupled with the horrific draw distance really annoys me. This low fps is because of my processor though (processor-heavy screams 'console port').

XP 32 bit.

 

I guess that would explain my better experience with AC2.

I know right, I just can't stand 30fps anymore. Gives me a headache for some reason.

 

I can't begin to imagine how I'd fare as a console gamer in this day and age.

Wow 30 FPS is low for you? Some people are glad when they get at least 20-25.
