Proximity Voice Chat and Dedicated Servers?

I think one of my most wanted features for GTAO would be proximity voice chat. That's voice chat that you can only hear if you're close to the person speaking, and I dunno I just think it could add a lot to GTA. It doesn't even have to be like a server wide thing, it'd be cool if it were just an option in the online settings menu. Plus with the players mouth already moving it'd really go a long way when it comes to immersion.
Throw in dedicated servers, server settings, and a server browser and all of a sudden the potential for GTAO has skyrocketed, you could have whitelisted roleplay servers (I'm imagining like 32 people tuner car meet ups), cops and robbers servers, modded map servers, and even modded zombie apocalypse servers, honestly I don't really understand why Rockstar is so jew about being the only host for their multiplayer service. I miss the good old IVMP/MTA/SAMP days.

Thoughts/opinions? Also this mostly only applies to PC users and I'm guessing because the PC port arrived so late and GTAO being such a huge part of the money rockstar is earning,

I agree, maybe a hardcore mode with reduced health, cars easily explode, maybe eat snacks to help you have decent health. And maybe less npc's on the street. Definately no zombie mode though

I would personally like prox voice chat, it would be pretty cool as a feature you could enable or disable, dedicated servers with that could be really cool if someone made an RP mod or something like that. In other words, Arma 3 Life in GTA.

Zombies would be a mod I guess, no need for it to be official. But hell yeah for hardcore mode I'd eat that sh*t up. Get rid of HUD too!

That sounds like sarcasm to me but driving past that would crack me up. I love playing games like that.. Island Life, DayZ, Rust.. SA:MP. Being able to communicate with a guy shooting you makes it a lot easier to make friends and mortal enemies. You can call a truce easier.. convince someone to back off easier.

Right now voice chat is just 100% mic spam and people trying to talk to ONE PERSON while annoying the entire server. The best option is to shut it off or switch to a crew mode (when you and your friends are already talking to each other on voip anyway..) The current voice chat and spawning right next to where you died all just creates this sh*tty death match freemode where people in armored vehicles kill you over and over again because you don't want to spend 20k blowing up their f*cking vehicle.

I'm down with proxy and dedicated servers. Please learn to adjust your phrasing, so people are less prone to tune you out.

I don't know how they can expect to cram more sh*t into the already laggy servers without doing something drastic, soon. I guess they will just turn down the graphics AGAIN!...i remember first week of gta xbox one, it looked amazing with immense draw distances....now..not so much

Proximity chat is a no brainer, can be done, R* has done it before with RDR Multiplayer, but I guess they just don't care about.

But dedicated servers? Those are never happening and you guys know it, this game has been P2P for two years already and soo far it is working for R*, P2P albeit being troublesome with modders, is easier and cheaper to maintain which makes servers last a lot longer, that's the reason IV's multiplayer is still up and running.

To have dedicated servers would mean a massive chunk of the game would need to be ripped out and literally rewritten from scratch. Whilst I'm not saying that will never happen (they could have been working on it for the last 2 years, for all I know), I very much doubt it ever will. The way it currently works means that any connectivity problems can be ignored and blamed on your internet connection, and that's something that I believe they like. Imagine if they had to maintain dedicated game servers, rather than the simple data servers they currently have, and they had to jump every time there was a problem. It would cost them too much money and time, and I don't think they have the slightest bit of interest in it, despite being what their customers want.

As for proximity chat, I can't see that catching on as people talk to each other no matter where they are on the map, and they clearly like that. Besides, most people that are talking are in parties. I just don't see a valid reason for proximity chat.

Proximity Chat: Terrible Idea with squeaker kids crying to there Mom when they get killed and making random high pitched noises.

Dedicated Servers: Yes but they would make us pay $50 a month like wow.
