This. I have heartfelt memories to San Andreas. I went back this week and it's honestly terrible.

 

We are super spoiled with GTAV and GTAO, but as usual, everything Rockstar does is terrible, and they don't listen to their fans, and they're greedy bastards, and they're stupid, and they only care about money, and they've lost their integrity, and, and, and........ I'm surprised they're still giving us free updates when all anyone does around here is complain.

It does sound like nostalgia. When people make threads like these it always makes me think they were a little younger when the previous game was released.

 

The last game blew my mind. I was eleven so it left an impression when it first came out but when I look back on it.. 'Really wasn't all that special considering the amount of things to do packed into San Andreas. I honestly thought it was a bit of a step back - and was only improved with paid DLC.

 

GTA V isn't perfect but it's certainly the HD experience that GTA IV wasn't.

here we go with the nostalgia. GTA 4 came out what, in 2008...that's 7 years ago

 

meaning you were 7 years younger, all games were much better then! you were younger, it was more new, fun, exciting, you had less responsibility and possibly more creativity.....

 

7 years matured I'm sure you are a different person, with more responsibility, less time to play, more critical etc, its just nostalgia.

I never played IV so I can't compare the online experience between the two games, however gaming is supposed to be enjoyable, if you haven't found that "fun factor" that you desire by now, then I seriously doubt you ever will. My suggestion to you would be to remove the disc, take it to your local gaming store and trade it in on something you will find more suited to your needs. Good luck

Gta IV's Multiplayer was a mere shadow of GtaOnline. All everyone did was camp where the buzzards spawned to take them and fly around griefing. Hell I even did that. it wasn't till BOGT that the triathlon races added something more robust.

 

IMO GtaOnline is hands down allot better and has so much more to experience.

 

Although it would be nice to have NOS and triathlon races lol.

If OP doesn't like O as much IV, then that's ok. Personally, I tried IV's MP and found it a bit boring with little to do except shoot each other and the cops, and with everyone clongomerating at the airport it got tiresome.

 

Like some have said, it's probably just nostalgia, and you don't like new and different things. We all get that.

I mean GTAO has a sh*t ton more to do than playing GTA IV online but I can never find that sweet spot where you just get lost in how fun the game is. I had a really good 5 to 6 year run playing GTA IV online. It was filled with countless epic moments and hijinks but I just can't find that pure fun factor in GTAO. Anyone else feel this way?

I found GTA 4 multiplayer boring. It was fun, but no where near as fun and huge as GTA O.

GTA:O treat's you exactly like real life. You get judged on everything; What car you picked, how it look's. Also on everything else. People are obsessed with money and K:D. I remember when people had to pick up gun's and gave no sh*t's about ammo. On GTA: Online, people are scared to shoot too much or they will have to spend a few grand. I like the idea of my own character earning her own money and stuff but it really takes away some of the fun, when you just want to riot.

 

So yeah, I think; Grand theft auto IV Free mode > Grand theft auto: Online.

 

It was dead back in 2012. Not going back now.

all I did in gta 4 free roam was kill people, what activities where you guys doing? I've actually made friends from gta online, done tons of collab stuff, be it for pictures, videos or just link ups - there is literally a "find and lobby and meet up" section because of this game, how on earth, with mobile messaging, passive mode and a huge map are you being constantly griefed and can't find civiliased people to play with?

 

why do you care about your online avatar being judged, you created them? they are an avatar, thats the whole point, its not actually you and these people are randoms, why does it bother you?

Alright, a game doesn't even need events or anything like that to make its online lobbies good.

 

RDR lacked in many different ways, but it is still home to some of my fondest memories in online gaming. GTA IV was good, too! All you need is a good imagination, maybe a few buddies that share your interests, and you're set.

 

Just to name a couple of "events" in RDR that we created ourselves:

 

The Most Dangerous Game

One person would wait with a weapon, their minimap and such disabled, and the others would have two minutes to disperse and hide. After those two minutes, the "hunter" would chase down the prey and kill them. The prey couldn't leave a certain area, we usually used Tall Trees.

 

Defend the Fort

My friends and I would occupy the Mexican fort El Presidio and defend it from the waves of incoming Mexican Army soldiers who sought to reclaim their fortress. If you died, you'd have to wait on the sidelines until the rest died or it got boring.

 

Sometimes we would form two groups and try to hold the fort from the other.

 

I'm just saying, guys, there is only so much the developers can do. You have to take some accountability for your online experience as well.

I miss GTA IV's airport. You could have so much fun trying to land a chopper on those mobile planes as they made repetitive routes on the runway. All the while the entire lobby was trying to kill you as you tried. It was good fun.

But they did that in gtao. No imagination needed. Pick the vs job and play it. Hell they gave us a job creator. If you (people comparing iv to v) cant find the same enjoyment or greater because of friendly fire lobbies being missing then they should play something else. They won't get any defectors here.
