Many of us like to pass the time looking at local classified ads, either because we're looking for something to buy, we're trying to sell, or we just like to see what's out there. Sometimes you find something so cool, funny or simply outrageous that you have to share it with others; that's where this thread comes in. If there are any classifieds out there that you just have to share, no matter what the reason, you can do so here.

I'll get the ball rolling with this 1966 Riley Elf. Probably not as interesting to those across the pond as it is to me, but I I didn't even know this thing existed before I saw this ad. I don't know if it's worth what he's asking, but then again, I don't know what it's worth at all.

Cool thread.

But $29k for an old Riley with a Honda motor, the seller is out of his mind. I first read it as with one less zero and thought, hmm yeah thats not bad. VGC ones go for about £5-6k. It would have to be one special buyer looking for one specific car to bring in the asking on that one.

I quite like the look of this S6, with the "right" seats too (Alcantara Recaro buckets)

I found a cool buy last year that I really wanted. It was a 1979 w123 coupe, with the 230 motor, pretty much just like this:

5730.jpg

It was bone-stock, in great shape and wasn't madly priced at about 6000 euros,

The really cool thing about it is that it was first owned, as in MB company registered (with documents) to Joseph Gallitzendörfer, the Mercedes-benz designer responsible for the shape of the R107 '72 SL-Class, W126 '79 S-Class, '82 W201 190E, and contributions to the W124. He was basically the guy that shaped MB cars during their defining period of the 70s and the 80s. He was also given great credit as "He helped to make the station wagon popular" by Karl Heinz-Bauer. Its awsome to think it was the car that he used to drive to work at Mercedes, to work on the designs of the other cars. He also designed the Ssangyong Chairman, but the less said about that, the better.

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of it as the ad is long-gone, but I thought it was a cool thing to share.

I actually almost bought a W123 coupe as my first car back in 2010, but the seller never responded to me whenever I tried to contact him. For the price he was asking, it was probably a piece of sh*t, but I still wonder what could have been.

I love the W123 design in general. I had a W124 coupe a few years back and that car was fantastic. The newer is probably a "better" car than the older one but a good W123 would be a great affordable classic, in that it is totally reliable, usable and is only going to appreciate in value in coming years. Most are Classic cars these days and are in the cheap Insurance, cheap tax bracket. Finding one with a cool history like the one I saw will hugely boost collectibility and help its value in future. I think it would be an awesome purchase.

That's actually pretty cool, in a kind if rustic, drink-beer-in-the-paddling-pool way.

Strong money but a splendid VR6 Turbo Corrado. Over four hundred brake horsepower.

Want a Mercedes fix. So far i have seen these two.

First, we have a black series CLK63 AMG

http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Mercedes-Benz-CLK63-2008/SSE-AD-3597599/?Cr=7

only 14k km too. Ther is also another one in Vic, but i thought this was the better pick.

d5rVg9A.jpg

and second

we have 99 SL600 with only 100k km.

1999 Nissan Skyline GTR R34 V-Spec - $72,800 CAD. It's supposedly stock. Of course it's all the way over in British Columbia...

ad67ae5b-61b6-4396-b68a-d89819880fa0.jpg

They say it's kept in "immaculate condition" but they conveniently didn't include the mileage and they got the horsepower rating incorrect, so yeah... But still really, really cool to see for sale. I've only seen one other GTR R34 for sale so far and it was far from stock.

The HP is correct, that's the "official" power output (well, ignoring PS/HP differences) thought most will be circa 320bhp in reality

Exactly. They displayed the advertised HP rating, although GTR R34s have been dynoing at much higher ratings. Pretty sure the Honda NSX and RX-7 were the only really major Japanese sports cars to be honest about their HP.

Thought about buying this back home for my frequent visits (already spent half as much on car rental this year).

It's an E38 735i, decent spec from what I can see - comfort seats, sat nav, HiFi audio (rubbish anyway) and it's LPG converted, so €0.42/litre motoring too.

Asking €2,100

I fell in love with E38s comfort, looks and refinement!

Although, I'm also tempted by this:

XJH2iRT.jpg

http://allegro.pl/e34-w-kolekcjonerskim-stanie-i5679326659.html

Fairly clean, 1989 525i (M20 block). Looks the part, but it doesn't even have electric windows...

Asking €1,050

Son of a bitch, I found a 1994 740il with 17" style 32s for $300 on my phone and the posting was deleted as soon as I searched for it on my PC. He probably already sold it but I think I'm still going to contact him and ask if he would be willing to swap wheels if I added cash on top, since he's selling the car for scrap value anyway. f*ck, if I had $300 I would just buy the entire car, part it out and scrap it myself.

Edit: f*cking sold. Guy said it sold within half an hour of the listing going up.

Edit 2: not all hope is lost. He's going to talk to the buyer and see if he would be willing to sell the wheels. If the buyer knows how much the wheels are worth (the seller did, but he was desperate for cash) I might honestly offer him my L7, I'm having no luck selling it and scrap value for it is the same as the value for those wheels.

It's a bit rough around the edges and I have a niggling suspicion it's had a new engine at some point (a '93 should be a 3B distributor engine, not an ABY coilpack one), but IMO the 80 Avant is probably the most handsome estate shape ever made. Proper full-time AWD, 230bhp, lovely I5 warble...a couple of grand and you could turn that into what would basically by my idea of a perfect daily load-lugger. Replace the exhaust, fit a stiffer wastegate spring and remap it...

1997 Renault Safrane,

Under £400, its probably worth that in parts.

another 90s flashback, posted a few days ago by a mate on FB

12004946_876103839137769_660519692211036

"Vauxhall Nova GTE for sale

.stunning condition

.9 months MOT

.Fully Rebuilt last year using all new parts

.56298 miles

.All history, old mots, receipts for rebuild eg eg.

£3699ovno

Pm for details"

I know, maybe its not too cool these days, but growing up in the 80s in the UK we didnt have Camaros and Mustangs to aspire to, We had Golf GTIs, Ford RS turbos, Astra GTE/GSIs and if you were a little bit "continental" maybe a Renault 5 turbo. The Nova GTE was a light, capable, fun hot-hatch, a mini-Astra GTE so to speak. Unfortunately a bit of a fore-bearer to the Vauxhall (Opel) Corsa so beloved by Burberry-capped numbskulls today, but worth a mention nonetheless.

That would be true...if there were any other Safranes left on the road.

That's a very clean Nova, he better not leave it out in the sun too long or else it'll grow a 15" high spoiler and Wolfrace alloys.

heh, yeah its usually only a matter of time. Hopefully this one will go to a good home, 56k miles and 24 years old. Should be in the hands of a responsible owner.
