I have this problem since I started playing the game (back in June). > My specs: i7-4790K, GTX 980, 16 GB RAM (DDR3 @ 1600 Mhz, CL7), Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 3 (motherboard), Windows 7 SP1, Ultimate. > My video card driver version: 358.50 (= up-to-date) > Power options: On Windows - high performance; GPU - maximum performance; CPU - unparked all the cores (this was done recently, but it didn't help me... except for gaining more FPS in-game) > I own the Steam version of the game > I have no other programs running in the background (just the normal ones: my anti-virus -- Kaspersky Internet Security; then nVidia GeForce Experience and Intel Rapid Storage Technology). > The other games I own don't freeze while they're paused > Intel HD integrated graphics is disabled from Resource Manager > Storage: 250 GB SSD (OS & programs are on it); 2 TB HDD (personal files, games, so on) > Virtual memory paging file size: 4096 MB for both initial & maximum (from drive C only -- the SSD). The recommended size is 24366 MB. I don't know how to set this, honestly. Have no clue. > BIOS is up-to-date > BIOS settings: I never used it before, so I don't know which settings are good / bad (= have to be disabled)... (Maybe the cause of my problem could be a setting from BIOS?) Bug description: When I pause the game (in singleplayer only), sometimes (= randomly), the game starts to freeze. By freezing I mean the menus react extremely slow (they freeze even if I don't use them)... and in order to fix this, I have to wait till I can resume the game (How? By spamming the ESC key, omfg). I wanna see the map... CAN'T. I wanna look into the settings... CAN'T... (only if I wait enough time, the specific menus I selected start to appear...) This is driving me nuts. One more thing: The computer seems to slow down (like it's no longer playing the game) when it enters the game's pause menu. (and when I resume it, everything is back to normal) As for GTA Online, this problem doesn't exist while I'm in the pause menu. Any help? Do you guys know what's the reason behind this problem? Any permanent fix for this? Please, help me! (And should I report this issue to R* Support? Will they look into it? or not?) P.S: Does anybody else have this problem as well? MarshallRawR Posted September 26, 2015 Share Posted September 26, 2015 Hi, I will most likely not be able to help you as of now, but if you have a working and compatible controller, can you try reproducing this bug only using a controller in the menus (as in navigating in the menu solely with a controller). CitizenSmith Posted August 20 Share Posted August 20 (edited) I have same issue. I think it does make a slight difference when window boardered but I think its happeniing in that mode as well now. On checking task manager I can see what resoure is freezing it and its a memory issue as its maxing out. I have 16gig ram so that should tell you by how much. it just starts rising after a short time untill the PC is not responding to the point a dirty shut down is needed. It looks like a memory leak. the next time i reinstall the game from scratch I'll have to check at each point of each mod till i find the pain in the butt problem. I only run limited mods at a time so not very many. this is all I use at present including obvious scripthook scripthook.net Heap/Pack and weapon adjusters enable all interiors street phone missions obvious UI's Redux!..............I am currently checking this mods involvment as its the most likely place being a heavy graphics mod but could be down to liturally anything!. incase anyone wondering if spec has anything to do with it and I personally don't think so. Though I can't remember if this happened on windos 7 so can't rule out this maybe a windows 11 or even any windows version as theres things like Scripthook to take intgo consideration as that keeps needing to update . I've been suffering this for some time now if i do a reinstall the game and find the issue i'lll post it here but not sure when that will be possible when Redux updates next as a reinstall is nessersary at that point. One more note I don't update game untill Redux updates to latest game version as i only want to run game with that enabled so I run previous game to latest version but keep all mods updated so again that could be an isiue in there some where! so many places to look my spec as follows: Windows 11 pro B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC Ryzen 5 16 gig ram Gigbyte nvidea2070 Super TRX 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD WD Black Slave hd WD Black 2TB MSI Optix QHD 27" gaming monitor Edited August 20 by CitizenSmith Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
rollschuh2282 Posted August 21 Share Posted August 21 we have a necromancer here lol. and no. this issue sounds like just the game hitting the hard fps engine limit. that causes those freezes and such since during pause you definitely hit them. only way to fix is to lock the fps under 150-160 fps. bc that is iirc where that hard limit is. Everything breaks if that is reached. If i would wanna play with really high FPS i would limit it to 165, that is 100% safe. 165 HZ monitors are a thing, so that is a good limit.
