Hi there, this has been going on for two days now, I can't access GTA Online or the Rockstar support site so it's impossible for me to get help from them. I tried submitting a ticket four times but each failed, I tried resetting my rooter but northing.

And before you ask it's ONLY Rockstar related websites or services that aren't working for me, every other website is working fine. I asked my ISP but they said there is northing wrong. ugh....

Has anybody got any help or advice for me ?

Thank you

Hey mate,

First off -

What have you tried to fix this issue?

Do you have a static IP or dynamic IP (constantly changing)?

When trying to log onto SC - is it through your console/PC that you play GTAO on?

If SC loads on a phone or pc (different to the one your playing GTA on), connected to the router, it sounds like a console/PC issue.

If SC doesn't load up on anything connected to router/modem, your issues lie within the router/modem or possibly further down the line.

Simple things to do first.

Clear cache

Change DNS settings in router to googles DNS

Try to see if you can "ping" rockstar's server from a PC.

Well northing rockstar related loads on my PS4, PC, or any mobile devices ( apple, android etc...) But I can access rockstar support but its very very very slow and doesn't work or load properly. It took about 10 minutes to load a page, but when it did load it looked like the one in the OP.

From that information, I can tell you straight away that it is not on Rockstars end.

The issue is on "your end", being either in the router or the ISP.

How old is the router/modem?

Can you do a speed test @ speedtest.net and post the results back here?

I slightly remember reading somewhere that the update upped the minimum requirements of your internet speed.

Do a ping test to rockstar's servers:

Start -> run -> type cmd in the run box. the command prompt box should appear.

From there, type: tracert prod.cloud.rockstar.com and press enter. Copy and paste the result here.

If all results return normal, the next steps will be -

Self Diagnostics Test using your routers in-built firmware - to see if any errors appear - google your router/modem to find out how to do it.

Change DNS server in your modem/router from your ISP's to Googles. You will have to search on how to do this as each router is different from the rest. I had an issue with Dodo's DNS last year.

Port Forwarding - Open ports directly to Rockstar. I don't like doing this for security reasons, but if your internet speed is close to the minimum connection mark, you may well get away with forwarding the ports to gain access.

VPN - last point of call. If your on console ,it makes life difficult because your router needs to be able to run a VPN. Only very new routers, commercial equipment and routers that have been fitted with open sourced firmware can be setup to do this. If on PC, we can at least test to see if routing through a different path, will give you access to social club on your PC.

Hope this helps you a bit. I realize it can be a bit confusing, but you must push on!

It's not a DNS issue since it is actually fetching the IP. The issue seems to be that something is blocking connection to the R* servers specifically. In my personal opinion this is probably outside your local network and is likely an issue with the ISP. I'd give them a call and don't let them brush you off this time.

Well I just checked with my ISP and they can't find anything wrong... Is there a chance my router could be blocking or limiting Rockstar websites and services ?

Looks like Rockstar have blocked IPs from and around my local area ( as in the whole isle of man) good going Rockstar.

RSG haven't banned anyone's IP address as far as I'm aware of.

If the router has a "blocking" feature, well, yes, technically it could. But that would have to be manually added into the router. Does anyone else have access to your router?

If Rockstar have been IP's in that area (which is doubtful - see Gaffa post), the only way in now mate is a router/modem set up for VPN.

Then you can pretend to be in another country.

To test if this theory would work:

You can download the openvpn client onto your computer, then search up free VPN's to add into the client.

Boot up the VPN, test SC and it should appear.

Then its just a matter of setting up your router to run a VPN, which unfortunately isn't exactly easy.

Your on console yeah?

  • 4 years later...

Guys I did not knew it was so easy.

I called my service provider they just made me login log out 5times of my broadband privet site I mean where you  sign in to your network.

Not the router's ip the internet provider's page that one.

Basicall gtav blocked my gateway IP.

So you just login logout of your network it will change your ip automatically. Then I can access easily now.

I thought this will help millions of people who are suffering I was struck till whole night to fix.

Try this and I basically switched to Google's open dns also .

But main was the upper solution.
