Algonquin Assassin
I'll definitely be buying GTA VI and I'll most likely preorder too like I have with all of R*'s games from the last 8 years or so. I play vice city and san andreas whole-heartedly on pc with some mods and actually I cant play GTA IV but if I could I would play the same way too. You are absolutely right on that. I've been in retail for 16 years, both in and out of management but mostly in management positions. I see no reason why anyone should call you a liar just because you voiced your opinion and applied real world experience to it. People absolutely do have that sort of attitude at times. And I'm not going to waste time scouring the forum for examples to post, but YES, people have said, and I quote, "I will never buy another Rockstar product ever again, because they lied to us, the promised this or that, they let me down, etc." I have no reason to make that up, and I've even said I don't believe them, I just stated that it has been said. I don't understand why anyone here would be upset that woggleman or I would point it out, what difference does it make? The fact that it was said doesn't have any impact on the argument of either side, because as we have all agreed, they will still line up to buy GTA VI anyway. slimeball supreme
I give V a lot of sh*t. It's not as good as IV - this is basic knowledge for me. In my head, it's fact. (Fact on metacritic as well) There are ways in which V improves over IV, many ways. To anyone else it could be the driving or the shooting or whatever, that doesn't matter. V is still a brilliant game. It's not terrible, it's not terrible because of the garbage online or the Kesh Kerds, and not terrible for any other reason. Because it's not terrible. It's a very good game. It's a 97 on Metacritic for a reason. The loud majority simply thinks GTA V was the best in the series. Hell, it might have even been a stepping stone in the franchise for future fans. This is a good thing. Don't you think a few people might have taken the time to have a break from being dumb cod fans and kesh kurd users so they could play previous games in the franchise? Hell, maybe this isn't the whole new fan base we're talking about? We are using common generalisations for people we haven't met before, only because you played five minutes of GTA Online, heard a few squeakers and whined about it on a forum. Bravo. Great job. Showing your assertiveness. While you're saying bullsh*t about how Online is the death of the franchise (which isnt true, you knob) how about you actually find some basis in fact about how this happened before rambling about your opinions like they're gospel fact. Please, stop being a moron. Edited September 25, 2015 by Mr. Fahrenheit fac316, King Vercetti, CynicalRise and 5 others

Hominin
ok, these days i am having a difficult time discussing GTA V without separating the game from the company. I was disappointed that GTA V wasn't as deep as San Andreas but I think it is better than GTA IV. There are a wider range of activities you can take part in. The same reason San Andreas was better, it had even more. however, that is the game itself. when it comes to R* and specifically to R* support, this is the biggest train wreck I have ever seen. I'll start posting some of the conversations I have had with them soon (since the complaint process is reporting R* support to R* support, only other complaint system left is forums and social media) so everyone can have a good laugh. I would be laughing too if it didn't destroy the game for me. fac316
King Vercetti
My brain just blew up! Lol I'm glad we can at least still have fun here sometimes without worrying about a fight breaking out. But yeah, to reiterate what's been said before, it's okay to like a game, and it's okay to dislike a game. It's okay to tell others why you like or dislike said game. That's what forums are for. What isn't okay is attacking others just because you disagree with them, or invalidating their opinions because they aren't yours. I've been accused of being a V fanboy, a Rockstar fanboy, and probably a few other things. Lol. But all I am is someone that grew up on GTA, having played and enjoyed them all (didn't like San Andreas much, but I still enjoyed free roaming in it). And I like each one for different reasons. As far as V is concerned, it's okay to not like it, and it's okay to say it's the best game ever. I don't think it is, but I still enjoyed the hell out of it. But look...I don't have any problem debating a game's pros and cons with someone who has a different opinion than me. But if you are going to blindly attack me just because you don't like what I'm saying, the conversation is over, I'm afraid. Now, I'm not just saying that it's wrong to attack someone that likes V. I don't think anyone should be attacked at all. We should be able to debate without turning on each other so easily. I know it's kind of human nature, but we should be doing better than that. Debate can lead to important changes and improvements, for us as well as for the games we love. Personal attacks just don't do much in the way of creating positive change. Some folks here are great at saying why they like V (or don't) and giving perfectly valid reasons. Some can't reply without calling names, being insulting, or otherwise coming off as kind of conceited. It doesn't have to be that way, that's all I'm saying. Let's make this place better than that. /end soapbox, and putting on flame shield lol
Gnocchi Flip Flops
What I said in the rate V thread: 7/10 "I liked GTA V, but was disappointed by it at the same time." I get accused of being a hater of V all of the time simply because I criticize it every chance I can. That isn't true though. I don't hate it by any means. I can actually say that I had a good time with it this summer when it came to doing my shoots for an upcoming project. The graphics are great, even on last-gen, the map is one of the most diverse in gaming even if I don't agree with it's layout, and Ill-Gotten Gains showed me what they're capable of when it comes to launching new cars and I'm most certainly looking forward to future additions because the Stirling GT and T20, just to name a few, were genuinely masterpieces. However, my rating still stands at a 7/10. It was one of the second Rockstar games I've gotten hyped up for, the first being Midnight Club, and it was an amazing experience at launch for the first several weeks. However, the novelty just didn't last. After getting used to the pretty graphics and the enormous quantity of features and content, I started to feel like it was just a quantity over quality game. I never really enjoyed doing anything in the game outside of the storyline missions, I just liked looking at everything. Driving felt cheap and dull but the roads and most of the cars looked so detailed and the level of detail encouraged you to explore. I've gotten used to the driving physics and have found cars that I actually like to drive but it sure did take a while. Off-roading felt, and still feels, terrible and ironically dumb downed from a game that didn't even have much terrain - IV - but all of the trails and mountains looked promising. I don't know. There's so many features and so much detail but in the end all I want to do is drive and walk around and occasionally f*ck around. Driving is okay, as I've said I've grown to like it. However walking around got old quick, especially with interiors being few and far in between. And then doing GTA things... just no. This is why I like V as a cruising game, not as a GTA. I don't enjoy chases because I find the wanted system poorly executed and basically ruined, I think the AI is personality-less and dull, and the humor in this game is the absolute worst. It's not a great game, but not a bad one by any means and not even mediocre. It's just a good game. But not great. King Vercetti
^Exactly. This is what we need more of from others, that is a perfect explanation of why you feel the way you do about the game. And I agree with most of what you said there too. It definitely feels different to other GTAs. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, just...not the same. But I can see how they ended up there after progressing through the series history. I think for me, V is the first in the series where I don't even like to go cause a ton of damage or anything, I like to drive around and take a bike and go exploring nature. It is much more a role playing experience for me than last GTAs, and much less about the action and mayhem. Oh, and I want to add, criticism is a good thing for sure, because if we ever want them to listen and not make the same mistakes they made this time around, we need to tell them what we liked and didn't like. Lol Personally I think about 3 years, or the ship sails and people give up on GTA. Or at least, many impatient fans will. They have a good solid engine with nice graphics, all they need is a new city, a new story and... oh wait, that's probably 2 years just on the city, because people will demand more from it than even V delivered in that respect. Signatures are dumb anyway.

More interiors, purchasable mansions, and a more innovative layout that doesn't get old fast with a more vegetated and diverse countryside that actually feels like it's tens of miles away from any major city even if it isn't. It's very much possible now. No excuses. gunziness and Niobium
King Vercetti
Yeah, I'm afraid it's gonna be a while too. I know they were able to crank out all the 3d era games within a few years back to back, but that was before high def graphics, and by using a ton of re skinned models and assets. I just think it's impossible to make a game the size of today's AAA titles without a huge team AND a five year schedule. I was reading something the other day talking about how quickly dev times and budgets have swollen up over the last few years. It was discussing how we have hit a really bad place in the industry now, where people want games fast but still want these huge set pieces and how that isn't possible. But it also pointed out that moving back to a simplicity model like many of us grew up on would effectively turn many younger gamers off completely and cause another video game crash. It's rough when games are taking as long to make and costing as much as many Hollywood movies now. But that's where we are and I don't know what could happen from here. On the other hand there, Fuzz is right, they have an awesome engine and a ton of assets already built from IV, V, and GTAO. Other than re skinning existing assets and some tweaks to assets, they could build a new world with less effort than when they were first going into production for IV. It especially seems like building a new Vice City would be easier since they could reuse much of the landscape assets and the ocean physics. Plus the map would almost definitely be mich smaller again, but hopefully with many more interiors. Gnocchi Flip Flops
I really hope they don't start again with the "reworked from the ground up" garbage. It's playable as is, throwing it all away and redoing everything is highly unnecessary and, as proved with V, leaves a lot of old and often small but very helpful features out. Keep everything and focus on improving. I don't want a completely new engine or for everything to be redone. Just improve everything, Jesus, I think that's what they should've done. It made sense for IV to be completely new but they could've simply made improvements from there. Instead they scrapped it all and redid everything AGAIN and it shows.
