frame rate drops during free roam events

It was pretty choppy last night on PS4, but it's hard to tell if it's the events or just more people and activity going on in the lobbies. It could also be from so many people downloading the update and then logging in. Hard to nail down a specific cause, but I assume things will smooth out a bit as we get further from the release date.

This is an obvious sign that the PS4/XBone hardware simply has been pushed to their technological limits. R* should do away with updating them, immediately and work 100% on GTA VI for PS5/Xbox 1080.

 

 

living on the moon? we all know that rockstar will bring out GTA6 on ps4 in the same year the ps5 gets released and then they will hop onto nextgen a year after. giving you either a beautiful but stuttering game, as the ps4 will be at its limit, or a one-year-to-late port for the ps5.

Ps4 will last for 10years just like its predecessor. Maybe they'll be dicks and cut that down to 5 years now though.

Freeroam is always choppy when a full lobby is actually moving around. The games networking can't handle that many people. Remember its peer to peer so everyone is sending data to everyone in the lobby. It doesn't matter what speed the system has its just poor networking.

On Xbox one for me the game stutters and freezes frames alot. Not to mention has render issues. Ie buildings flashing in and out and stuff spawning last second road dissapearing. It gets unplayable feels like in on a 360

does anyone know if they are aware of the issue? free roam is a choppy mess since the update. i even factory reset my xbox one to see if it helped, but it didn't.

I haven't been on my PS4 since the update but I've rarely had issues with FPS dropping. Sometimes there was lag but I assume that was other players as I had 100mb & low ping broadband. I've been doing GTA on PC & getting 60FPS with almost everything on full but I'm currently playing using 4G tethered from my phone. So it's probably not stable. But honestly, I'd prefer to be back on my PS4 as there's far far less modders.

i'm hardwired and have an open nat. everyone i play with has the same issues as this thread describes (on the xbox one). definitely started with the free roam update.
