If only GTA didn't have cut content. Imagine the possibilities. there will be no need for DLCs. (most GTA V/Online's DLCs contain cut content anyway), but people will somehow complain still.

That's what I've always thought of. What if all the DLCs that R* gave us and will give us had come from the initial release? Would people still be playing today?

it was a smart move by rockstar. Look at how hyped we were about yachts or lowriders. What if they came out 2 years ago?? How special would they be now. This is why the hype is going to be f*cking real when the casino comes out.

I can't believe I missed this sentence

 

In order to keep GTA Online flexible and constantly evolving, the game is built to receive new content in a variety of ways including major paid expansions at specific points across the year, dropping additional content via regular title updates, and even the instant and seamless addition of jobs via the Rockstar Social Club.

Pretty f*cking bizarre to say the least.

There's was also when they said Content Creator and Heists would be free updates with more to follow, so paid updates for Online were hinted from the start. Then you had that sentence coupled with the dialogue added in the Beach Bum update and it was pretty clear that things such as the Casino and Indoor Dirt Arena at the Maze Bank Arena would be paid DLCs. It'd work because those locations would have closed interior lobby's complete with their own stores that sell DLC exclusive items.

 

Not sure why everyone always thought that the small clothing/vehicle/weapon updates were planned as the regular updates. They were more place holders until the developers could finally release Heists. (Which was better than having no updates until Heists were finished.) Could you imagine the bigger backlash they would have received if they had released a paid DLC Casino or Indoor Dirt Arena before releasing Heists? People would have flipped even more than they did over Rockstar "lying" about Heists and were wasting time on paid DLCS and not releasing what they promised. They delay of Heists pushed back all their other plans, which I'm sure was aggravating to them. Or at least the ones who had been working on those updates...I doubt that Maze Bank Arena Dirt Course we've seen is scrapped content left over from V's development. More like an update that got put on hold for two years, but will still come. Besides scrapping it would be a waste. I'd bet most of the community that hasn't touched shark cards would pay $10 for it or the Casino, making Rockstar more money.

I really don't think we'll get any new consoles until 2022 at the earliest.

The only way I would pay for that is if its included in single player, I wouldn't want to lose accses to the dlc if Online goes down.

Im 90% sure about that.

i know you came up with that date based on the 5year gap between IV and V but i dont think that trend would continue due to, you guess it, the cash cards!

 

V have something IV didnt and thats gtao, a game mode they can update with ease, that keep making them millions after 2+years. adding stuff to gtao is easier and cheaper than going out and creating a new game, which is why i think the success of gtao would cause the next gta to be pushed a bit closer to 2020.

 

they maybe on the early planning phase of the next gta game already, maybe developing a new graphic engine, but a full on gta game is farther than 2018.

 

Sounds reasonable, GTA 6 has to top GTA V. By the looks of things that is going to be a lot of effort.

 

SF+LV or VC + 3 Protags (1 Female) + Better story + Current Gen Tech + Longer Production Time = Better than V

agree with everything but the 3 protagonists... they have to ditch that model.

 

in my book, focusing on 3 protags is the reason why V story mode is so weak. i'd rather have them focus on a single character and fully develop the character and the story than have them do multiple underdeveloped characters with a weak story.

A couple of overpriced sportcars every two and half months shouldn't be something to charged for. But then again, we're talking about a time when other developers put a 5 USB price tag on a f*cking skin retexture. So yeah, R* are relatively generous.

Probably keep playing GTA:Online in between other games.

 

Anyways I think that's the reason why we won't be hearing any announcements about Story/Online DLCs/Updates until they're about to launch. That way their fan base wouldn't know about the delay and they wouldn't get the same complaints they got about Heists. If it's not announced, why announce that the unannounced DLC has been delayed until summer and rile up the player base? They're not obligated to release new items monthly nor have they ever said they would.

 

Besides, if we didn't get anything until the summer, most players would figure Rockstar moved on from GTA:V/Online and would be surprised and excited to see a new update. Otherwise an announcement about a summer delay for updates could lead to players complaining that "it's summer and Cocktstar lied again like they lied about heists release....," just because it didn't launch on their expectations for summer. Or worse.. Rockstars expectations to have it finished for summer were off... again and it got pushed back until fall.

I kind of agree. But I'd really like to see a GTA story with a playable female character. You can either do that with multiple characters (I think two, one male and one female, could work) or as a DLC.or like gtao, they could allow us to play the story as a male or female.

You might be right about having 3 protagonists watering down the story, but maybe that's more the story itself than the method. I'm sure a compelling story could be conjured up using multiple protagonists.

 

One nice thing about having 3 protagonist is the ability to switch to another character when the one you're playing as is in the middle of f*cking nowhere without any transportation.

 

Also, as others have said, being able to play as a woman would be cool. Perhaps GTA VI will let us create our own protagonist for story mode, and that would also be our avatar for whatever GTAO is at that point. I'd be down for that, they'd just need to record twice as much material with the voice actors or use gender neutral dialogue when possible.

 

But seriously, f*ck all that. Right now I'm just waiting for the next RDR. I mean, I love GTA and all, but I cannot wait to see what R* has up their sleeves for RDR. Someone has to know something...
