I don't know when GTA5:Online will come to an end, but I think it will end with a new beginning. We will transfer our Online character to the new GTA and it's map, but the only thing that transfers for characters is the level and money.

Here's where I imagine a cut scene where our character sells most of his or her cars to Michael and Franklin, Trevor buys the Pegasus vehicles, and we just give our Lowriders to Lamar's broke ass.

that sort of thing would be sweet! i think i'd quite enjoy a "high roller in LS loses everything and has to flee to [insert prefer destination for VI] " cut-scene as an opening to the next era of GTAO.

"After 5 years on the West coast...."

i agree, we should have this as a cut scene when its over, go out with a bang am i right?

...Like i said before I personally think 2016 is the last year for DLCs for GTA V so my guess is they have all the most requested dlcs to come out this year hopefully. SP DLC, Casino, Bahama mamas, and a lot of cut content. this is just my guess...

like they said a couple months ago, gtao is the gift that keep on giving, cashcard sales keep them happy, so they just keep pumping content out.

people are still buying cashcards, making them millions every month, they can simply keep milking this cow, personally i see them adding stuff for atleast 2 more years, before they cut back and start working on the next gta, which maybe be on the planning and scouting phase already.

I fully expect 2016 to be the last year of content as far as gta 5 is concerned. While I cant go look for the quote right now, TT has stated as recently as a few weeks ago that content wouldn't just keep coming forever for this game. It looked like a hint that they would soon be putting R* on other projects rather than creating content for gta.Do you have a source for that announcement ?

I'm browsing here bit by bit on my phone while at work. Don't really have time to go digging back through to find a link for you.

If you've got the time though, you can google "Zelnick MKM investor's conference". That's when he made that statement. I first heard of it about a month ago from the youtube channel Open World Games.

Well I was thinking of it as more of a traveling thing. You travel to GTA6 map and buy cars, houses, earn money etc, but you can go back to LS when launching GTA:O from GTA5 and continue without losing anything and with the money and XP earned in GTA6. Kinda like a loading screen between maps except instead of loading screen you launch another game.

Though when you think about it knowing R* you would not be able to transfer your character, because people won't spend much money on GTA6 shark cards if they come to GTA6:Online with millions already in their pockets.

Okay, how many people really spend their money on Shark Cards? Is it that many that it dictactes what Rockstar really does. Because from what I've seen, a lot of people think it's a daft way to spend your money. Including me. The most I'd be willing to pay is 5 bucks.

I'd say shark card purchases are in the tens of 1000s per week. DLC wouldn't be free otherwise.

I guess lowriders 2 will hit pretty soon considering the fact they are looking for trailer editors to work within a 60 second format.

$66m worth in 12 months was the figure that they gave.

Whilst updates have required a significant amount of effort their expenditure is nowhere near that figure.

When they no longer make money or they can make more money developing and selling something else is when updates stop.

They said that they want online to be a growing/evolving world.

I reckon that means you'll see gta6 come out with new story mode. That world (map, vehicles, people, radio stations etc) will appear online alongside Los Santos.

Want to play online in the new bit? Buy the game. Easy revenue.

Want all that new stuff ? Shark cards. More revenue.

The alternative is that they just start charging for online access and do away with cards. I would suggest that this would generate less revenue.

I wouldn't say it dictates it since i believe Rockstar has a scheduled plan, we have seen quite a few DLC's have been in the books since close to release, but you really would be surprised how many people buy them. There was a chart someone posted awhile ago that showed just how much they really get and i'd say it's probably more than if they did payed DLC's.

This whole 3, years thing is in my opinion completely ridiculous, due to the fact that they just dropped last generation, and they are probably making more money now than they were before, for them to just halt and stop updating this game, would be ridiculous it's basicaly turning away profit, As long as they get Shark Card sales they will, continue to upate the game until GTA 6 is around the corner and then what will likely happen is online will transfer into that game aswell, I see absolutely no reason as to why 2016 would be the last year for DLC from both a logical and a business standpoint it really in my honest opinion makes no sense.

if i spend the money of a days work, in cash cards i end up with more ingame money then if i spend the whole day grinding.

bought one back in the days when money were so hard to make

Like every game with Micro-transactions, the top 10% of purchasers/investors are who keep the publisher's and the Shareholder's pockets lined. Yep, people with more money than sense, that buy a shark card for just about everything in-game, so they don't have to wait, because that's how they roll in life. Those people keep the other 90% of players getting DLC for free. :)

So, thank you, stupid rich kids!

I'm well aware even more reason as to why it doesn't make sense to stop dropping DLC for GTA:O

While it might seem like nobody is buying them after visiting these forums, I bet that many outside these forums do (I don't). The playebase of GTA5 doesn't just consist of people on various forums, there are loads of people who just play the game casually and don't visit any forums or talk to other people online about their experience, they just play and when they see that "omg I can buy currency with real money?" they probably will buy a few shark cards to reduce the grind. There are people who spend thousands on mobile IAP for mobile apps and I don't think GTA5 is different. It's bigger, better and I bet that there is a good number of people who buy shark cards regularly, because they don 't have the time to play for hours to earn the money and they can afford to spend money on shark cards.

There are people here who buy them and just don't 'fess up. Rockstar sells quite a few.

Personally I mostly prefer to earn my GTA$ in-game. However, the game can get a little too grindy at times - for instance I have friends who run nothing but Pac Standard over and over, and I don't think that's a valuable use of my time. They've practically turned Pac Standard into the new Rooftop Rumble. Beyond that, I buy very few video games anymore, and if I'm going to spend some bucks on a game I'd rather support the one I'm actively playing than buy a new one that I'll get bored of in three days and set aside to go back to GTA. So yes, I've bought a couple. I picked a 1 mil card in the early days of GTA Online, mainly to show some love (and to buy a Stinger GT, a car I still am completely enamored with). Then in December, after I blew most of my roll on a yacht and some cars, and also after I realized I hadn't spent a penny on any video game in 6+ months, I dropped $38 on a discounted Megalodon card. Probably will take me a long time to go through all that cash, and I am currently enjoying freedom from the grind, just doing whatever I want and never really worrying about whether I'm making money or losing it.

If only GTA didn't have cut content. Imagine the possibilities. there will be no need for DLCs. (most GTA V/Online's DLCs contain cut content anyway), but people will somehow complain still.

I actually enjoy having that cut content dolled out to us over time. If we had gotten it all at once it would have been overwhelming at first and also would have lost it's appeal much faster. GTAO is a really amazing experience as is IMO, and anything else we get are just insanely awesome bonuses for being an invested player. With this attitude I have seriously NEVER been truly disappointed by this game..

That's what I've always thought of. What if all the DLCs that R* gave us and will give us had come from the initial release? Would people still be playing today?

Late fall 2018 is when GTA VI or what ever is called, is out.

Im 90% sure about that.

i know you came up with that date based on the 5year gap between IV and V but i dont think that trend would continue due to, you guess it, the cash cards!

V have something IV didnt and thats gtao, a game mode they can update with ease, that keep making them millions after 2+years. adding stuff to gtao is easier and cheaper than going out and creating a new game, which is why i think the success of gtao would cause the next gta to be pushed a bit closer to 2020.

they maybe on the early planning phase of the next gta game already, maybe developing a new graphic engine, but a full on gta game is farther than 2018.

Sounds reasonable, GTA 6 has to top GTA V. By the looks of things that is going to be a lot of effort.

I'm guilty of buying a Shark card but I did it for two reasons: Franken Stange and Lurcher. I hadn't played much around Halloween and by the time I saw them I wouldn't have been able to get the money straight up so I spent 20 bucks and got a Shark card. I know there's people who won't fess up to buying them because they like to brag that they've earned everything legit, even though they haven't. And there's people who won't fess up because they feel like they had a weak moment and pride themselves in knowing they grinded their asses off to get what they wanted like me. If I had had the money at the time, I would have dropped twenty bucks irl to get the Roosevelt. Ain't no shame, fellow gamers. Ain't no shame. Shark cards are like a dirty little secret.

SF+LV or VC + 3 Protags (1 Female) + Better story + Current Gen Tech + Longer Production Time = Better than V
