Let's be honest here.

Is there any base to this "Liberty City" rumour besides Funmw2's "It's possible" comment?

Yes.

Can we share it?

No.

Don't get me excited for nothing. At least say what kind of files did you/fun/m3tal/dragoon/anyone found... Scripts, maps, collision, textures or everything mentioned...

No.

You guys and your circle of secrecy are killing me.

Please let this extremely vague rumor be true. A new city (or a new version of an old city) and all the related content would be the biggest update to this game by far.

I wanna be in the circle. :(

Found this in lastest global.gtx2. Probably it was related to that gang stuff for GTA Online (Vagos, LSPD and The Lost. Remember that?)

0x3B2059A7 = Reach Respect 50.0x3C4C5C72 = Biker Handcuffs Closed
Also
0x4FB73FCD = Complete 100 Drug Deals.
Could this cut feature coming back to gta? Back in the Dev builds online was different. You could pick vagos, lost, lspd but it got cut hense why we had three slots. As well u could handcuff other players

Metal posted this in the gta beta thread

Meh, I don't care about SP. That'd be disappointing. I'd far prefer them to just open the casino online instead...

Everybody is titled to their own opinion, but honestly i'd wish for R* to stop working on Online for at least 3 or 4 months and actually focus on an SP DLC if they haven't already. trust me, i enjoyed every piece of GTAO and every single DLC from Beach Bum all the way to E&OC. but it just feels like the hype that people had about an Online DLC before is starting to fade away nowadays. a we get hyped when an update gets leaked or announced, the update comes out, we enjoy it for the next 2/3 days or a week maximum, and then you're just like ''meh, i'm so bored with this game now, i got nothing to grind for and have no interest in this and that, i already bought what i wanted.'' and then switch to Fallout 4 or JC3 or any current game that you own and play that until you hear about another leak or announcement, aaand it's the same story again..

meanwhile an SP DLC will actually breath new life into GTA V like EFLC did to GTA IV and have us playing for another 30 nights.

Like look at how big story DLCs can be. Just look at tbogt or tlad. Would have sold really well if rockstar didn't make it Xbox exclusive for like a year.

Well, yeah, it has always been like that, even since Beach Bum. Of course then there are those of us that play GTA 99% of the time.

I got Fallout 4, fantastic game, but it was a waste, as I probably won't play it any more until mid January.

Can't wait for a casino dlc or an entrepreneur dlc where we can own businesses and earn money offline. I'd pay $25 million for that cab company in story mode lol.

according to fun and yan. Casino is coming with SP DLC along with an casino heist for SP

This is just me spitballing here, but from a business perspective, the reason things get added online is because they can use profits from Shark cards to generate content that will encourage the purchase of more Shark cards. Add this to SP, and where is the additional revenue stream? It would have to be either a paid for DLC or increased game sales. I, and many others on here, also have suggested that online is where most people play (8 million per week according to Rock Star. Seems like this is probably true). If online play is really the direction of video games, and increased revenue is less certain, would they really do this? I know for me personally, if they did this, I probably wouldn't even bother checking it out. I have zero interest in SP.

In my opinion, a map expansion is not far away. If you think about it, what else can Rockstar add? From the top of my head, the two big things I can think of are mansions (I'm talking about the proper ones with possibly 20 car garages) and the casino. Its obvious that they can't keep just adding cars, weapons and clothes every few months so I would not be surprised by another big update. I do think that Rockstar are working on the SP DLC and I do think it will come sometime 2016. I can see this update being huge, with more access to interiors, dancing etc and possibly a map expansion coinciding with the SP DLC update. Think about it, next year it will be 3 years since GTA V released, surely next year will be the year that SP DLC will be released. I know it has already been 2 years and we should have received it by now, but since release, Rockstar have had to deal with GTA Online, GTA PS4, Xbox One and PC release, and don't forget the highly anticipated heists which Rockstar apparently had to completely redo as it was harder to make than they expected. With all these out the way with just GTA Online to manage, surely the time is now. I believe 2016 will be a big year.

There are a lot of suppositions here possibly leading to faulty conclusions. Why can't they just keep adding cars every month? Since you don't have the numbers, you have no idea if the kiddies will keep jumping in, they just might. And I can think of dozens of ideas they could add that don't include mansions or casinos (what about the air craft carrier? How about making the pool table in the bar operational? how about opening up some of the other building? Or adding new heists or contact missions?) Point is, Rock Star is limited only by their imagination. I have no specific info, but a map extension sounds like significant work that may have only a limited pay off. Would that many more people buy the game now? Would anyone really need to buy a shark card because you opened up a new portion of the map? I don't think this post is well reasoned at all.

Mansions, the casino, more open interiors and criminal enterprise building would definitely keep this game alive another year (provided they throw in a few more small things too). So that'd take us to 2017, and I don't expect major DLC that far into the games life.

I think for them to do that much next year, they'll have to avoid working on SP DLC, as it wouldn't make any money... unless it was a separate thing like TBOGT was on IV.

although it is entirely up to Rockstar i as well as others can only give opinion but here are some of mine

Jet pack- I know what your gonna say "thats stupid and cheesy never gonna happen" but consider this adding jetpack as a 500,000-1,000,000 novelty item to transport short distances (across buildings and streets at the most) and serves as a whole suit (so you somewhat have to choose between looks and use as well would not be available in missions (too overpowered for say a deathmatch or heist)

amphibious vehicle- there are various forms of amphibious or floating cars some with guns and armor like tanks others that could fit in your average sized garage

futuristic cars- weather it be the most high tech super car around or some sort of back to the future or other movie styled thing

would have added more but ran out of time and had to go

zombies dlc pls

Honestly, for Halloween I was kind of hoping for a modified Survival mode that used zombie NPCs restricted to melee instead of armed human NPCs. It couldn't have even been that hard to program.

I don't see SP stuff coming. Two reasons... They already said everyone who worked on SP is now working on MP, and two, there's no money to be made. They can't sell Shark cards in single player.

I think the idea is that they'd actually release a singleplayer expansion that we would have to buy.

Knowing Rockstar, we'll probably get your stereotypical hipster ass gentrification apartments in Liberty City:

Screen-Shot-2014-12-24-at-12.12.53-PM.jp

That cheesy ass bare brick and naked air vents studio crap.

Honestly bare brick walls are a part of NYC apartments/houses, sure wouldn't fit in a Vinewood house or LS, stilt and modern houses are a thing over there. but this is NYC we're talking about, bare brick style houses/interiors are a historical thing. it ain't no hipsters, simply Brooklyn and the trend it started around the city.lovely-new-york-studio-apartments-brick-

Single-player DLC would be tricky, just considering the multiple endings of GTA V's story - if R* set it afterwards, that'd require making one of the three endings the official, 'canonical' ending (which basically negates the option to choose which ending you want - instead of three possible outcomes, there's one 'real' one, and two parallel universe 'what if?' endings that ...don't really matter).

Alternatively, R* could just do like the GTA IV expansions and have both a new protagonist and a largely stand-alone set of missions, taking place at some vague point just before or after the events of GTA V - referring to them with the occasional nod, but being separate enough so as not to run into possible continuity discrepancies. Bunch of new cars, new missions with cutscenes, new weapons, maybe even new game modes - perhaps bring back some GTA V characters like Lamar and Lester to tie the whole thing in...

...I've basically just described Heists and Lowriders, haven't I? :colgate:

OK OK hold up

Rockstar made 1 billion dollars from GTA V in its first 3 days lets not get started on how much they have made from GTA V in 2 years from Last Gen, Current Gen and PC, and ALLLLLL Them shark cards. I would like to see a SP DLC and an Online DLC for Libetry City or whatever it is they are doing. It definitely wouldn't hurt them if they made a SP DLC. so stop saying that SP won't generate money, that isn't the point of a SP DLC (they can focus on making money on online) we were promised a SP DLC in 2013

"We're just going to add on new things to it, new places all the time. We've set this up so there are no limitations," he said. "The only limitation is the size of the disc and how much memory we've got. We could, if we wanted, simulate the entire world, different countries, whatever. Whether we do that or not... But we've got a bunch of old stuff that we're toying with using."

Obviously LC would be the next logical step as far as expansion goes, since IV and V share the same engine.

I think if/when it happens the two cities will be tied together with import/export missions/freemode events involving Brucie. Brucie is the only contact that we currently have that links is to LC and I remember bringing him vehicles as some sort of side mission in IV. "Exotic Exports"? What does Brucie do besides annoy us about BST?

Maybe they are waiting to make the Titan and Cargobob operational for import/export activities similar to Simeon's vehicle lists. Simeon only requests low end vehicles, I've always wondered if they would expand on the actual GTA activities in the game, stealing and selling premium and rare vehicles. This could also give purpose to the NPC modified rare spawn vehicles, and give them reason to add even more.
