To be honest the cars looks all depends on the user. For example I f*ckin say the Dukes is a god damn Barvado to me not a imponte. There is barely ANY GTO in the Dukes but I see more of a 68-70 Charger.

The Dukes is an Imponte because the front end very closely resembles a Pontiac Le Mans:

 

 

 

I don't know why some people don't realize this.

 

Nearly every car in IV was branded appropriately, which is why I go ape sh*t when they screw it up in V. To me it's just more proof that they have a few people in the vehicle department that don't know what they're doing and don't care.

 

I stil think that the Sultan should be an Emperor branded car, but I can let that slide.

I noticed a trend with some of these cars.. Is it me or do they seem to use a mix of chevy and Dodge alot together? Dukes is a mix of the Charger and some pontiac while the Tampa looks like a couple Novas and Darts. Gauntlet is a mix of a Camaro and Challenger. And so on

I just can't let the Karin Kuruma slide.

 

That was a perfect opportunity to have it branded as a Maibatsu.

 

Whoever chose it must have been through a very violent stroke or something, because the Karin brand makes no f*cking sense at all.

The stupidest f*cking brand in the game. The KARIN Kuruma? Like really? What happened to Maibatsu. They choose to f up on the easiest cars to brand.

I still think that the Sultan should be an Emperor branded car, but I can let that slide.

Both badges suit it though, since the IS was sold as the Toyota Altezza in Japan. Why not have them bring in an option to badge it as either?

Of course people are gonna bicker about what parts are lifted from what real world car, cause none of them are 100% exactly like the car they came from, mostly because that way the car in GTAO actually looks like an actual car a manufacturer put together instead of some frankensteinian car some enthusiast kitbashed together from model kits.

 

To me the Nightshade takes a lot of influence from the Spectre Camaro, mostly the grille and the fenders, the headlights seem to come from both the '71 Camaro (rounded shape), and the '71 GTO (equal medium sized lights, vs the Camaro's small inner and large outer sized lights) both cars feature a dip between the set of headlights and both are raised slightly above the grille, the rear lights are a clear lift from the Firebird.

The side of the car (outside of the fenders) however seems to be completely original, all three cars I mentioned above feature some kind of clear bend midway up the door and bodywork, the Nightshade has a complete smooth curve tho.

 

In the end we mustn't forget that GTAO plays in it's own alternate universe where a lot might seem similar to our world, but many things are different, like landmasses, government organizations, and also car manufacturers, I think the devs can do anything they please with the fiction of their world.

Also.. Why the f*ck is a Stallion a Declass? Sure looks nothing like a chevy car in the first place (looks more like a big fat Mustang. Much like it did in the 3d era) but thats not my point. It was under the.. Mercury knockoff name first (I forgot how to spell it)

Every GTA car has drawn inspiration from two or more cars. That's obvious. The people who act like it's based on just one car though, I'm sorry, they can fall off a cliff.

it has some olds 442 in it's design. looks nothing like a mustang or cougar to me.

I love your Utes, I'm just saying it makes no sense since Holden isn't marketed in USA.

 

Speaking of that, since Holden is an actual thing in the game. They should just add modern utes to the game

Is the Tampa confirmed?

Seeing as it's not a mod from IV, and it has a slightly different model and also because it was in the same leaks, I would say yes. It was found in the Xmas3 files which I think will either come on the 18th like last year, or the 22nd.

I think they know exactly what they are doing when naming the cars. They do it to try and be funny.

 

The Stallion should be a Classique, which is Oldsmobile, it is actually branded on the car that way.

 

I can see some GTO influence in the Nightshades headlights, but as I said before, many cars have similar lights/fenders.

 

Not that any of it matters, won't keep me from enjoying the cars.

its quite clear that each car in GTA V is not based on one car IRL only but, a mixture of at least 2 because if that wasn't the case Rockstar would be hit by a LOT of lawsuits for copyrighting claims. Also some one once mentioned on this thread that they misplace the brands of the cars on purpose because so they show that they are not trying to copy the IRL version, that could be true. its still annoying from my POV but they could have no choice

The Mamba I think is branded as a Declasse. but a Mamba in real life is a snake and so is the AC/Shelby Cobra so i still think that some of the employees at rockstar know what they are doing. after all the game is Grand theft auto so if the majority of the employees dont know anything about cars R* is hiring the wrong people but i highly doubt it,

So with all the differences between the world of GTA and our world, it breaks your immersion/annoys you that that world's equivalent of GMC decided to market the equivalent of Holden in the US? There a hundreds of reasons why that could happen . .. and it annoys you more than healing-potion candybars?

I don't think the Mamba will be a Declasse, if anything it would be a Vapid, cause that's the GTAO verse's Ford and thus closer related to Shelby, but I've been looking at the HD version of the trailer, and when they do the pan around the front of the Mamba you can seem an emblem on the front and it doesn't seem to match any current brand's emblems currently present in GTAO, so it might get it's own GTAO version of AC as a brand.

As for the whole Stallion thing, it should have been a Classique, maybe they just wanted to cut down on the one car brands they had, also let's not forget that Olds died in 2004, four years before the rest of the now defunct GM brands went under, a lot of young people don't even remember the brand.

It's also not unusual for them to shove certain brands together, Pegassi is a combo of Lamborghini and Ducati (both are subsidiaries of Audi), so shoving Classique (Olds) cars with it bigger brother Declasse (Chevy) is not complete strange.

And lets not forget that several cars have clear influences of Plymouth made cars, but Plymouth doesn't even have a GTAO version of the brand present.

 

As for the Tampa they will probably leave that with Declasse, unless they feel the clear Dodge influences of the car make it better suited for Bravado, in the end it's up to the devs.

I only said mamba was a declasse because of the leak. however I sure do hope it isn't a declasse and as you say has its own brand/logo (hopefully a Snake)

 

if you look at this image it doesn't have a brand unlike the trailer.

I assumed that the Stallion was a Classique in IV and a Declasse in V was because of some weird limitation with the game that wouldnt let them add any more manufacturers and that was the reason up to that point we hadnt seen any of the Willards return, but with the addition of Progen with the t20 and Willard with the Faction that whole theory was kind of went out the window

 

also the real dumb naming decision was the one where they made the Warrener a Vulcar and said it was a swedish car (and kind of implied it was the 244 somehow???) instead of making it like, any of the japanese based brands

As much as I want a snake, from the looks of it it's a brown/copper circle with a black dot in the middle, and some stuff going on in the brown/copper circle, so knowing GTA's tradition with these....it's probably something like an asshole.

 

One thing I really need to say is..

 

Why name Holden, Cheval?

 

Cheval sounds like freaking Cheveolet!

Cheval's emblem is a horse, a play on Holden's lion emblem, Cheval is French for Horse, also Holden started out in 1856 making saddles, they switched to making cars in 1908, so for a good 52 years they were very much related to horses.
