Is it time to retire the Sultan?

I mean this question not in the sense of removing it from GTAO, obviously, but removing it from my garage. Yes, the Sultan has long been hailed as the best all around vehicle in GTA V, for it's low cost of ownership, good handling and acceleration, affordability, stylish looks, 4-doors, and low insurance cost. It was the vehicle I completed every mission in back when online was in its infancy, and most often with the car full of four people, back when people weren't total douches who only wanted to drive their own vehicles.

Well, the glory days of the Sultan have passed, and nearly every Jimmy in the game has substituted it for the less nimble, less fast Kuruma and Armored Kuruma, and it is very rare that having a 4-door is relevant, since everybody is so selfish, does not care about cruising with players for bonus RP, for fun, and for teamwork's sake.

Also, the Exemplar is a superior 4-door solution, with better speed and handling, and I already own it as well. I'm interested in trying out other vehicles, and it's time for one to go...

I already retired the Elegy once and for all because it is no longer relevant to sports car races, and that was tough because I couldn't get back any of the money I invested into it. I didn't like it much anyway, and was very relieved when the Jester and Massacro race cars were released.

But the Sultan, for me and for others, is held very dear, and has much history wrapped up in it.

So before I make any brash decisions, I ask you, masters of the internet, sons of despondency and champions of bluntness...

...is it time to retire the Sultan?

Good question. I have my sultan too and am torn about selling it or not.

I'd say keep it. Why not. You clearly like it enough to make a thread about it. It's not like you're keeping it for performance or protection. Just like I don't keep my Bullet or Vacca around for performance. If I want to win a race, I'll go with my massacro or t20

I used to own the Vacca and Bullet and Voltic as well, just so I could know that I owned all super cars, but I almost never drove them, so I sold them, even though they were all fully upgraded. Those were tough sells as well.

For me the Sultan was done as soon as it was introduced as a 4 door car in GTA 5. I much preferred the look of the 2 door version in GTA 4.

Whether or not from a team play perspective, I feel the Sultan outlived itself since the Armored Kuruma showed up.

Still, the Sultan wasn't without glory days, but at the same time it'd feel like a sin to leave her locked up. I'd retire it.

Retire it OP. I recommend getting a Scfafter or a Oracle. Not only they are great limousines but they are amazing off the radar cars because they appear so often in free mode. If you want to go American, the Whashington which is based on the Town Car L is great too. Or do you like luxury SUV's? What do you want to do?

I have the Schafter already, but I have verified it to be inferior to the Sultan through many missions and races. Still, I'm keeping the Schafter as more of a style statement, and to have a sedan class vehicle, and because I've never kept it in my garage for long.

I'm stolen and fully upgraded the Oracle several times, and while it is faster, it has no body upgrades available and is a bit loose on the handling.

The Washington and Town Car are too grandfather for me, and I've spent time with them enough to know I don't have room for them. Luxury SUV's I have owned and fully upgraded and sold include both Ballers, the Huntley, the Granger, Dubsta... I think that's it. I've fully upgraded the Huntley S twice and sold it both times.

Right now I'm going for this:

Garage #1: All of the best super cars, plus the two sports race cars, all fully upgraded. That garage isn't changing until another super car is released, maybe.

Garage #2: All motorcycles, all fully upgraded.

Garage #3: All 4 doors and armored cars, plus a few other cars that can only be bought, not picked up off the streets...

I'll post everything here in little bit, so you can see where the trouble cars (buy or sell) are.

The only vehicle that supersedes it is the Armoured Kuruma, and that's only because of the utter bulletproofness of the thing.

That said, I have them both. I only bring the Kuruma out when I need to do a hist setup where you're going to just clear sh*t from inside the cockpit.

The Sultan is fun to drive, more agile and faster than any other 4 door, highly effective on and offroad, and easy to make your own with plenty of options. Get rid of mine? I've been trying to keep myself from buying two, one "road" and my current rallyspec'd versions.

i'm keeping sultan regardless whetever there's a 4 doors can outperform sultan

because like a memory of using Sultan RS in IV

the name means " king " in arabic , bahasa indonesia & bahasa melayu ( from " bahasa indonesia & melayu " both however , " Raja " more common than " sultan " ) . it's likely named " king " of sedans as it's fastest sedan in the core games ( though in V , felon has highest top speed among all sedans ) as well comes with durability ( stronger than futo ) and it's cheapness 4 people fast transport

I keep my Sultan around not because it's useful, but because it's actually enjoyable to drive unlike the atrocious Kuruma, which I kept only for utility purposes.

It's small, it's nimble and its response is lightning-quick. Aside from the low top speed there's nothing I can complain about the car.

If you have a regular Kuruma sell it.

The three 4 door cars I like are:

Sultan-

AWD ability to rip up mountains and hills hauling four friends is good thing at times.

Felon-

I just like this car. Similar to Exemplar but slightly more neutral. Sultan takes priority over it for me. But it's a nice ride.

Exemplar-

Classy and sporty. Little oversteer aka loose at times. Sounds amazing. Sucks going up hills and mountains sides.

So with all that. I'd say keep it or spend some time with a Felon and maybe sell Exemplar for another Sultan.

Oh lastly and worth mentioning the Insurgent. Outside the stupid icon. It's a beastly 4 person (inside) hauler.

There are some errors in your post. Sultan is still the fastest 4 door in the game, not Examplar. Also Elegy is the fastest for Sports car racing, unless the track doesn't have much corners. I would sell that Examplar and get the Elegy back.

I always thought the Oracle was faster than the Sultan. Anyway, I recently added a Sultan to my garage and use it mostly for rallying. OP, its up to you!

Nothing can beat the Elegy on a twisty track in the sports class. Worth having one plus a Massacro.

As for the Sultan, it is perfect for rally style racing, the standard Kuruma is slightly faster but a lot more twitchy in the turns.

I've got the Sultan and Elegy, won't part with either, just use them for different styles of racing.

Well, not sure where you got that information but if you can use the Elegy right it's among the best sport cars, if not the best.

and the mass ? perfect for deforming/pushing weaker vehicles while kuruma itself almost-impossible to deform ( even after run over by a tank )

Standard Kuruma handles differently to the Armoured.

Speaking of being run over by tanks in a Kuruma....

If you have to ask this question just sell it. Also, I'm putting the sultan way ahead of the exemplar.

In a race, in your Sultan, you would lose to me in my Exemplar. I can promise that. But how would we test? We'd have to be in free mode.

But the Sultan looks cooler.

This is false.

And the Elegy is the most overrated fanboy sports car in the game. I've been reading its praises and claims that people who don't think it's the best can't drive it right, and this is also false. I've read it too many times, tested it myself too many times --- Elegy is a mess to drive in any full session of racers with catchup off.

Fastest 4 door for racing is Exemplar.

Fastest sports car for racing is race Massacro.

I am 100% confident that I will never own an Elegy again. I'm beyond sick of that back heavy, slip-sliding, unintentionally drifting piece of garbage. If somebody nudges your rear the slightest bit you're liable to spin out.

Sure, I'd lose in race conditions, but the sultan is simply an all round better car. Better acceleration more intuitive handling. The exemplar can't touch it in free roam. The sultan is a classic yet still relevant day to day.
