The GTA V Story Mode DLC Speculation Thread

What happened last time was there was a 5 year gap between GTA IV and GTA V, however during these 5 years Rockstar released 8 games. Fast forward to GTA V nothing major has been released in 3 years.

 

I just don't get it.

 

3 years after GTA IV we had

• Red dead Redemption
• Red dead Redemption: Undead Nightmares
• Midnight Club: LA
• Beaterator
• GTA: T.B.O.G.T and T.L.A.D
• GTA: Chinatown wars
• LA: Noire

3 years after GTA V we had

• GTA V on PS4 and PC. (If that counts)

...Something isn't right here.

 

 

Rockstar hasn't even announced anything either. Either they're taking their time with their next project(s) or they're just milking GTA Online as much as they can right now.

the diference is the money, GTA V still gives Rockstar a sh*tload of money. Only GTA V money gains are more than all of the games you mentioned before.

He's been with the company as a lead developer since GTA 3, and he was a huge part in making the other GTA games. Now that he's gone, this could hurt the Singleplayer in the future GTA games.

there could be a reason since he's gone that we havent gotten anything but gtao updates.

 

I read the article and if I remember correctly, I thought The Benz was the one pushing for Online and the Houser brothers didn't actually care for it, that's why The Benz put his credit at the very end of the GTA Online intro instead of Sam Houser so I don't get all these posts predicting Online only GTA Games from now on. With Leslie gone, we might actually get focus back on SP and have Online downplayed in the future... that is if I read that article correctly.

Why the f*ck are we still discussing the bullsh*t rumor of the RD3 trailer being cut from E3? There was a f*ckload of violent stuff shown and even the Mafia 3 trailer showed Lincoln crashing a boat party which could also fall into the reason why this alleged RD3 trailer got cut. People are just in denial that Rockstar wasn't at E3 cause they over hyped something they saw in twitter.

I honestly don't give a sh*t whether you want to post here or not, or what you think of the thread. That is your problem. My only issue is that you and other people seem to be irritated by the fact that this thread remains open. I just don't get why you and others are crying about if people believe a SP DLC is coming or not, that is their opinion not yours.

 

You have no right in saying what gets closed or not. If there is no SP DLC, so what? that doesn't mean this thread has to get locked. and so what if this thread is useless, there is no need to close the thread. It also prompts you to question their motivation for this. Do they fear a slump in interest in the series if it doesn't exist? Do they think people may cease playing online and move on to other titles or something?

my biggest problem with them. Could have told us months ago, instead strung us along to keep V relevant. Terrible decision to its hardcore fans.

 

100% agree on other paragraphs aswell, same view and opinion. f*cked up time for GTA.

 

Pray Mafia 3 and Watchdogs 2 learned from their mistakes and kick GTA up the arse in terms of a realistic western world sandbox. They've been at the top for to long on their own. Like WWE and Raw.. Was stale and catered to kids for years, most profitable. Now these indy brands getting big, ROH and NJPW the casual fans starting to watch and know of, they've suddenly gone more mature, gave fans a percentage of what they want.. Hopefully same happens to rockstar..

I am not sure quite what it is or what the reason behind it is, but clearly there is some intent here on the part of Rockstar. I am not sure if it is pompous elitism and a feeling of "power" over their huge customer base, or they are trying to manipulate people on a mass scale to join online, but something behind-the-scenes is going on here, and I don't think its an oversight or an accident.

 

Rockstar has always been like this, though. Their communication with their huge customer base has always been very, very selective in terms of ignoring the biggest questions and seeming to focus on minutia, and then claiming that this ephemera is the main stuff people want to know. Strangely enough, this seems to be very common in gaming developers and publishers all over the world, too, not just Rockstar, and I have always found it very odd, to be honest.

 

It seems like devs launch their products under some pretense to be in close communication with their respective communities, and then they go into some bizarre, super-secret hiding where they disseminate the most perfunctory and superficial information while strutting around as if they are in close communication with their customers. I have to wonder if there is some formula or code here that prevents devs from really addressing or delving into the most important questions and that causes them to instead focus on things most people would consider unimportant.

 

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Rockstar knows that a great many players are clamoring for SP DLC, and they are fully aware that many of their interview statements both pre and post release of V have led people to believe that there is definitely some SP DLC coming, that is a lot more extensive than a couple of hangars and weapons. Yet they have had absolutely nothing whatsoever to say about this issue in almost three full years no matter how much people publicly implore them to give us concrete information. Yet, for reasons I cannot even begin to understand, they would rather answer only certain questions in whatever social media they use to disseminate information, and they seem to almost be mocking their own community with their silence on the most important issues. I would love to be a fly on the wall of Rockstar's executive meetings, and the executive meetings of MANY development companies.

 

There definitely seems to be some sort of protocol of silence, though, and I would love to know if there are sort of agreed upon procedures that most devs follow in these types of cases. Because putting all accusations of "Shark Cardd greed" aside as well as any excuses some might want to make on their behalf, something seems to be going on here that isn't being spoken about by them.

 

I mean, by now, obviously they know definitively and unequivocally whether there is going to be any SP DLC or not. They are certainly NOT on the fence with regard to this issue. They also know that masses of people want to know, and for reasons I cannot even begin to comprehend, they flat out refuse to let their customers know what's going on.

Rockstar has been pretty clear, (and so was Take Two ) since beginning that they'll continue to support GTA Online only, including all the big updates STILL being planned in 2016.

Not even a f*ckin' word on SP.

T2 / R* either pass any question on SP DLC or simply don't speak, at all.

Keeping the suspense going on for several months now, for no reason. And people just kept on going as well, wasting the thread with unrealistic expectations that some day they are going to unveil the big DLC for SP without any solid info.

In the end all this turns into a major disappointment, as usual.

 

T2's E3 fiasco was kind of expected.

 

Unfortunately, the intense emotional drama going on in this thread for such a long time, fanboys still trying to argue with others on the possibility even when its too late, no matter what they are too willing to disregard common sense using whatever absurd theory to justify the HOPE and WAIT that builds up expectations for the SP DLC to an insane level.

If people try to make them realize, they are told to leave this thread. They just not understand it nor stop dragging this thread to pointless lengths.

I guess, it'll require far less efforts to make these R* worshippers believe ANYTHING, except the truth that there's not going to be SP DLC this time from Rockstar.

There is definitely some reason, Chiro. I just can't conceive of a possible motivation beside a financial one that seeks to manipulate interest. Of course, every ounce of speculation that we may present is just that - speculation. I could understand their silence for the remainder of 2013, and the year of 2014. They may not have decided upon the feasibility of DLC, they may not have assessed demand and they may simply not have decided.

 

I understand that other developers are secretive - but do any of these developers, aside from Rockstar, actually receive the same level of fan bombardment? At least some smaller companies can plead ignorance.

 

Similarly to what I Drive stated above - I think we will one day get confirmation. This will either be during the Con (unless Rockstar has restricted their ability to discuss it) or when GTA 6 is announced. I genuinely do not think Rockstar will ever officially comment on this particular issue.

The thread is in regards to SP DLC, If no DLC confirmed, then this thread becomes irrelevant because the foundation of the discussion is SP DLC and what it is. Beyond that, it will turn negative, and turn into a Rockstar hate fest, which it is now and I'm prone to do (and doing) ha. Save us from ourselves...

SP DC is not the only thing that gets discussed here, if that was the case we would be on around page 150. This thread will eventually get abandoned. Therefore why lock it, if it will get abandoned anyway?

I hope you and the others who want this thread locked would STFU. There are lots of threads on this board that I think are pointless, but I'm not going to cry like a bitch and try to get them locked because there are people who like to discuss those topics and I see no point in taking that away from them. Those threads don't cause me any harm and I can easily avoid them since I don't have brain damage.

 

 

- SP DLC was planned and announced.

 

- It was never officially canceled.

 

- We know Rockstar fell behind schedule on aspects of the game which may have delayed any DLC.

 

- They had internal problems dealing with LeslieBenzies which may have created more setbacks.

 

- The voice actors plan on touring together which is odd if they're not going to promote anything.

 

 

If people want to discuss and speculate about any DLC, whether or not it was canceled, why it was delayed, did the The Benz situation affect the release, which conventions the voice actors will attend and will they say anything about the DLC, etc., then they should be allowed to and this is the thread for it.

 

If you have problems dealing with that, then too bad. Every time you make a post about wanting the thread locked is another time it will be bumped to the top.

It's like those Star Trek conventions or anything with a large fandom the show has been off the air for years but the actors still do tours and sign autographs for money. The V trio hasn't done much except for Steven Ogg they are trying to cash in

They will never say that last part, Rockstar's/Take Two's legal and or PR team would never allow it. Companies this size never admit failure, at least the western ones don't, they'd rather stay quiet and hope people forget than risk taking a PR (possibly a legal) blow by potentially reminding people who already moved on or forgot about their failure. At this point more than enough time has passed to safely consider everything we know about what has been going on at R* and apply our deductive reasoning in order to arrive on an ultimate conclusion: The DLC was cancelled. As we saw what went on this thread during e3, all speculations assuming the DLC still might come out are purely driven by emotions - we have enough information now to accurately guess what really happened, they're never going to literally spell it out for us.
