Rockstar following them means something special??

How?

Since when twitter following became important for Rockstar before they announce something..nah.

I think someone is reading too much into this. I'll wait and see.

IGN dont know sh*t about GTA or how to play it, but they are very good advertisement. IIRC, they are the ones who gave the Voice Actors the Interview in 2013 in a convention when GTA V released. It could be that IGN will be speaking to the VA again this year and same goes for the rest of the accounts that were followed

I'm fairly certain R* doesn't need to follow anybody to release news for anything. That said, it's interesting. Maybe it's a slow day in the R* PR department.

R* are now selling some pack GTA V + SharkCards on PSN.

However, the sales for GTA V are over for now.

I want to believe.

They've been selling those packs for ages

Yeah I think them following IGN, Kotaku and Gamespot doesn't really mean anything.

Then again Rockstar has always been subtle when making moves so who knows.

My random hunch tells me the next GTA (not necessarily VI) will star a female protagonist.

Mods please delete this so it looks like I'm right

Also, I'm calling it. MrGTA1985 is the new GtaoJackbroker.

I'd like to see the percentage. Imo.. Say 85 percent who play are males, 15% are women.. 70% of males would be put off playing as a woman, due to roleplay etc. Whereas women don't really care (in my opinion, don't give me all that crap about generalising). I believe 90% of that 15% only play online, and can be female on that..

Basically, having a woman as a main protagonist will affect sales so much, due to aiming at the smaller audience.

As "childish" as this sounds. I love GTA, had every single one, batter V. But if they done a female protagonist. I honestly, will not buy the game. And this is someone, who loves it. Don't fix what ain't broken.

I would love to see a female protagonist. I am a man. But hey, i like to see new things in life. doing the same thing over and over n over. And if you wouldn't buy the game because of that, is like.. Well i don't even know. I mean the game could be great and the story might blow your mind but if you're not open to it, that's your problem.

Rockstar games has always been the company that pushes the boundaries so why not keep doing it? Bring 3 badass female protagonist to to gta 6. I would find it really interesting..

most straight up response I've ever got. Respect your opinion! I wouldn't mind a female protagonist if there's 3 of them. Just not 1 and only.

Saying it's boring being a male over and over again. Same could be said for WWE, MBA, FIFA games etc. Think it would change whole dynamic. But in a negative light.

If you take off your sexist blinders for a moment, then maybe you'd realize that female protagonist have become much more popular the last couple of years. It lets them tell a unique and a pretty refreshing story. A female lead character will happen in GTA one day(assuming they stay the three character route). And to say you won't buy it if includes a playable female character is pretty shallow and sexist. It won't affect sales negatively, hell it might actually boost sales because of that one character alone.

Tbh I think personally until this 4th wave of feminism is starting to die down a bit R* is too smart to include a female character. Unless she's black, mexican, "plus" size, disabled, and gender fluid people will bitch and moan about how not all people are being represented fairly, and/or that "not all women are like 'that' (i.e whatever negative things the character might do in-game)"

I mean, people already complained enough that there's the OPTION for a male character to seek out a female prostitute which is completely up to the player - and has actually been an option in gta games for at least the last 15 years almost (I've never played 1 & 2)

A morbidly obese, mentally and physically handicapped, black, muslim, Mexican, lesbian woman would be hilarious.

The next GTA guy/girl should be a Hispanic gangster/A cop/A female.

Would be interesting rather than Black gangsters/Middle Aged white guy since they were done before.

Imagine playing as someone like Tuco from Breaking Bad...

Anything would be good, just give us a single player dlc.

Yea i don't play those games so i cannot say too much about it. I think they are not story-driven like Gta witch would be a big difference. But i don't know, there might be some career mode to it. But.. if you can't choose gender in sport games that's retarded. Yea let's say that only 15% of the players are girls, but they could raise that number by adding females. Those numbers would of course drop if it was females only in the game (the 85% males that is).

But i don't think R* would lose anything if they had a female protagonist. might lose some - win some. But i don't know and no one will know until R* brings the female to the next gta :p

And i think there should be male hookers in gta v, man i would laughed my balls off if i could buy a male hooker with Trevor.

Rockstar if you see this. Male Hooker DLC next

How about a regular American-nationality guy who starts as a freelance for hire and midway through the story he gets the freedom to be the boss of a criminal organization set in a spoof of Texas? And I mean the entire state not two counties of like GTA V.

I have been daydreaming about it for months, and I feel it would give GTA a newer bigger dynamic and scope. You could choose your bodyguards and choose to organize multiple teams to do multiple jobs like stealing cargo and ammunition from other gangs and militias or taking over territories, possibly start meth labs under legally-owned property for money laundering.

I know that is only a dream, but just imagine...

Ok where is my $500,000? C'mon people.

What exactly did you do to think you deserve this $500,000?

Slighlty off topic, but I can feel the pre-announcement buzz here now. I was thinking about how long it was after IV's release that we got our first glimpse of our new world. Turns out it was 3 1/2 years. Not to be overly optimistic or dreamy, but we're only a year out before we reach that point once more.

Actually, this is really off topic. I just felt like pointing it out after seeing this future protag discussion, and that as many arguments and debates go on here, we're all fans and we all want the best product. Keep dreaming, keep theorising. Maybe, just maybe, R* can right some more "wrongs" in the very near future.

Re-imagined VC, here we come?

Cos "we've" had a certain type of character, doesn't mean we can't again. As long as the character is quality and detailed, I'm happy. Prefer a Latin gangster this time, Vagos'esque

Imagine playing as an average accountant at Maze bank. Your life is normal, until you break bad and have to take vengeance on bank robbers. At the end, your final mission is to finish the financial statement for Maze, which you neglected throughout the whole game. otherwise you're fired, which brings up a "FIRED" screen as opposed to wasted or busted.

Jesus.... Fallout 4 has three DLC's already happening, and it's been out for four months. GTA V has been out since 2013, and still not a single word on ANY extra story expansion since Decemeber 2013.

It's dead, guys.

I hate to say it, but the nail in the coffin was a long time ago.

RDR2 will be announced in April, with a release date somewhere in October, which will then be pushed back to February 2017, because it's Rockstar, and that's what they do.

Give it up already.

FO4 has no Online, and as such, the only thing left to announce, also what Rockstar did during IVs time as well is, rolling out more content for the single player, unlike V [ roll out more for Online ].

That's the unfortunate part, the announcement of a substantial expansion for SP might seem implausible to many but then there's nothing much we can do, other than hope, that it happens, some day.

I understand FO4 doesn't have an online mode, thus why SP DLC must exist for the games longevity and to stay relevant.

GTA has online now, and that's the difference. The online mode is what keeps it relevant, and what sort of content they churn out.

Never wanted to believe there wouldn't be GTA V SP DLC, but I have truly given up at this point.

Will this affect your guys' decision to buy GTA VI?

If in the future they keep heading in the direction of more and more online support and less focus on single player content yeah i'll kiss Rockstar goodbye. GTA will just be another title that i get for $5 during steam summer sales years after they have been released as opposed to being something im super hyped for and pay top dollar day 1.

Will this affect your guys' decision to buy GTA VI?

If they don't release SP DLC for V, then I'll just wait until GTA VI drops in price before I buy it. I will have lost faith in Rockstar. For VI, there will probably be a shorter story with fewer repeatable activities and a lot of good content will be exclusive to online just like in V. So, f**k Rockstar if that's the future of the series.
