HowsItGoingM8
who needs jets? For those that have figured out how to dodge homing missiles, the head on rpg is the only non-aerial threat left. If you come across a ground target that is offloading an rpg at you and then suicide just attack from a steeper angle... like straight down on them. If you realize the ground target is attempting this just fly upwards while they are spawning and come down like a hammer on them. ETA- that is a cool video. Great shots. kind of like this guy tried? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SK1-Va_GdrI Edited September 13, 2015 by SidSid Smooth Longsack
SHXC
I almost admire those who are skilled in the jets online.. because I am ultimately sh*t. I've had a decent couple of kills back in earlier GTAO times. Lately I was in a freeroam where someone was flying around in his Hydra and killing people, except he would crash or get killed after 2 or 3, and as soon as he spawned on foot, he hit pussy mode until he had a new jet.. that to me is a f*cking dick. Mattoropael
You jet fanatics are playing the wrong game. Here: [Ace Combat 5] Go play this so you can stop pretending GTA V is a game primarily devoted to flying jets. Ewww, Ace Combat 6....AC 5 > AC 6 AC 6 was good, not as good as AC 5, but millions of miles better then....ACAH......AC 6 also had a very fun multiplayer mode. The fact that Infinity, which is an obvious cash-grab, is better than Assault Horizon speaks volume of just how bad it is. who needs jets? [RPG kill video] Nice shots. The approaches of most of the jets involved are atrocious though. Wastelander (Suzuki)

_jenny
This thread has some good tips already. I'm pretty decent with killing ground targets, but can't dogfight for sh*t. I'm friends with a crew that are jet gods and they give me good tips. I can take out bad pilots by missiles or just simply out flying them, but I've only taken out a few with the cannons. What I used to not do was go in first person. That's probably the easiest way to target your...well, target. As you're coming in to strafe, switch to first person and as you're coming out, switch back. That's how I get most of my kills. It's common practice, but I didn't even use it until my friend mentioned it.

Use the mini mini map as it has crosshairs on it to line up with the player blip. Go in slow and come out fast (that's what she said). Don't over commit (unless it's for a quadfeed or higher). It's better to miss than to have to get another jet. For beginners the hydra is better/easier to use for killing ground targets. The lb/rb buttons give the jet a greater range of motion (yaw) without tilting the jet from parallel with the ground. J Cobra
I didnt want to troll.I only said that the laser is available to purchase at warstock cache and carry, like also AMG said, maybe its you who cant buy it because of a bug. How much did you pay for the Lazer? I do not remember seeing it on the website. It costs 14m$, a bit overpriced, but its the ultimate griefing machine. You can go twice as low as the hydra, meaning more accurate shots with the cannon and you can actually ram cars with it.Where with the hydra you would miss 10 times your target, with the lazer you would miss only 2 times.Definetly worth it for free Roma. For missions the hydra is better thanks to its VTOL capacities."Joined 4 days ago" and you expect us to believe you? Proof or f*ck off... Stop being a twat. You are nothing more than a bullsh*tter. I have played since launch and the Lazer has never been available for purchase. Your troll skills are beyond terrible. We're not quite here yet. This is brilliant. Imagine how good that would be with the editor!I was caught in a lie, so I'm sticking to my story. That's whatwhat really happened, so cut the sh*t. Rumbunctious
I love dominating the skies while listening to "Danger Zone". Any aircraft that is equipped with weaponry will be hunted down and destroyed. Tip for people who like doing the same or wants to try it out: Don't shoot down civil aircraft, and don't kill anyone on the ground. It's just pointless and boring for everyone involved. It's a bigger problem for helicopters - if I'm in a Savage, etc. I usually try to let the unarmed aircraft go, but 9 times out of 10 they try to crash into me. So they'll mostly go down. For jets it's different, though I'm pretty wary of Besras (since they're the most agile jets and can be tricky to shake off if they get behind you). MadeBrazen
Im ok in a jet but have been bested plenty of times. So, talking about dogfighting - yeah i got the circling when being pursued and can sometimes take some mad angle up or down and around and inside out to shake em, but the thing the really ace pilots Ive flown against seem to have is an insane sharp, tight, physics-defying turn that I can't seem to pull off - Do you know what I'm taking about? And is it just down to (air) brakes and rudders? Or a cheeky trick you guys do? Cheers Edited September 13, 2015 by MadeBrazen
Smooth Longsack
Airbrakes airbrakes airbrakes. Flutter them sh*tz like crazy! If you really need to lose some speed open the landing gear for a split second. You always want to start with a little more altitude than your opponent if possible. If on current gen you can be a real bummer and go into passive and airbrake to the point of hovering and, like maverick says, "hit the brakes and he'll fly right by." Then come out of passive when you've taken the advantage. I know that ruffles some feathers but a win is a win. 2Good4U
Smooth Longsack
For those that aren't aware of the etiquette of an arranged dogfight here is how it works: Both jets agree to go at it. Then we do what is called MERGING. This is where we fly head on at the same altitude, as close to a game of chicken as possible without intentionally crashing into one another. The instant the fly-by (merge) is over, it's time to engage the other player by any means possible. So if you get a message in game that simply says "merge?", they are requesting a 1v1 dogfight. Even having all gold medals in sp and mp flight schools and being a decent pilot in air races was not enough to be a good lazer griefer, I just sucked and I gave up trying. Around rank 350-400 I was getting bored and thought Id try again. A little better this time around , sometimes I would actually get a kill before I exploded into the ground. Then for some reason one day I switched to 3rd person(i think its 3rd, the one where you dont see your jet lol) and I think i got 3-5 kills before crashing and I was amazed. I kept at it practicing when I wasnt busy with other sh*t. Id say somewhere around rank 450-500 my friends started noticing my flying skills and making comments on all the kills I was getting. Now sittin at rank 542 and still have my good days and bad days but on my good days most lobbies wont stand a chance in hell. Sure I might get shot down once or twice but Im leavin that lobby 50+ to 2-3 lol I am far from the best and still have much to learn. The messages of hate never get old lol I approve of this thread. Grief on Brothers! On the other hand, think of the insane acrobatic tricks this way: Most of them show how good a pilot is (by the merit that you need to know how to precisely manipulate your craft to pull them off), but doesn't actually help them fight. I mean sure, I am very much impressed by people who can fly, control and optionally strafe people on the ground with a Lazer in reverse, or land it on a moving Titan and will be extra cautious if I am to fight them, but those tricks don't help them blast my fuselage into a pile of smoking debris. I'll most likely get blasted, but I will most likely be blasted because they're much, much more experienced with the same combat maneuvers that I use, not because they can pull a fancy maneuver on me. Never really done a merge duel with someone with comparable skill, but from what I've seen I'd imagine it to have a different skill emphasis than normal dogfighting, which is more about positioning, tactical thinking and awareness than actual dogfighting. (In other words, I find stacking advantages to be more important than dogfighting skill in a normal jet-to-jet encounter) I for one would not imagine myself to be anything but absolute food in a merge duel.
