Don't forget the Hydra. Yes it's at a disadvantage in dogfights, but a lot of the other problems people have with it are easily sorted.

 

It can easily dodge homing launchers once you've got the hang of it (see here): http://gtaforums.com/topic/811388-how-to-dodge-homing-launcher-missiles-in-a-hydra/

 

If you know you're against a decent pilot who's not going to be beaten, or maybe the odds are against you in other ways (outnumbered, etc.) you can make use of the Hydra's hover mode to literally just land on a building and snipe. I prefer to use the construction site. See three jets closing in on you? Land there and snipe the lot of them down.

 

I also suspect the Hydra is stronger than the Lazer, but haven't tested it yet.

 

Also don't forget the Besra, which, with the help of a sticky bomb on the nose, can potentially beat any other aircraft in a dogfight. Just got to get behind them first before they realise you don't have guns and charge head on at you. Since the Besra has the same jet icon as the Lazer and Hydra, this is doable.

It costs 14m$, a bit overpriced, but its the ultimate griefing machine.You can go twice as low as the hydra, meaning more accurate shots with the cannon and you can actually ram cars with it.Where with the hydra you would miss 10 times your target, with the lazer you would miss only 2 times.Definetly worth it for free Roma.For missions the hydra is better thanks to its VTOL capacities.

For those that have figured out how to dodge homing missiles, the head on rpg is the only non-aerial threat left. If you come across a ground target that is offloading an rpg at you and then suicide just attack from a steeper angle... like straight down on them. If you realize the ground target is attempting this just fly upwards while they are spawning and come down like a hammer on them.

 

ETA- that is a cool video. Great shots.
