WertyRO
Hey guys, I always had this question. I have got a GTX 660, i5 3470, 8GB of RAM.I am wondering what's the FPS count difference between playing on 1920x1080 on High and playing on 1280x1024 on High? That in case I will switch to a 1920x1080 monitor.
Ai®a©ob®a
I didn't loose any, stayed the same throughout the change @ 60FPS Edited September 12, 2015 by Troubadour
WertyRO
But do you have the same specs as me?
Modojo
Depends on how VRAM you have on your GPU. Increasing your resolution will require some space from your VRAM so if you have a 4gb GTX 660, then I think you're fine.
WertyRO
I understand that you have no idea what you're talking about. No GTX 660 has ever had 4GB of VRAM. Most of the models have 2GB VRAM, one or a couple have 3GB VRAM. And I know it depends on my VRAM and many other things, but I wanted an answer from someone who might know more than me, not less. Thanks for trying to help though.
lydianduck
I made the jump from 1280x1024 to 1920x1080 a few years ago, I had a GTX580 back then, expect a ~25% performance drop approx. cryptorelic
With my GTX 750 i can't really lock 60 FPS straight, experiencing some random lagg on 1920x1080. So i simply put it to 50 FPS, and now it works smooth. Settings are on High.
Koger
Create a custom resolution in nVidia Control Panel and test it yourself. I've had some fun running games at 3200x1800
fefenc
I didn't lost any fps when I went from 1024x768 to 1920x1080, but the stutter made the job of ruining the game optimization. Edited September 14, 2015 by fefenc
Huskerboy42
I can get 60fps at 1080p high-very high settings but normal textures with 2gb vram R9
EightyEight
I have a similar setup to yours: 660ti and i5-3570k. I've been playing the game at 1920x1080 this whole time with mostly High settings, and get a steady 60fps with about 1-3 fps drops for a second or two (They're not stutters though). DentureDynamite
Probably depends more on your graphics card settings and available VRAM than resolution settings; I've read that (in some cases, anyway) going to a higher resolution can sometimes improve performance with the same video settings. EddieLTU
i once hooked up gta5 on a tv that can do 728p and upscaled to 1080p, and performance did drop so hard, that i had to work fast to do 1080p pictures, everything was overheating fast. i usually get 24-30fps on avrage with my native 1280x1024 resolution on semi max/ultra settings
