I'm very disappointed about the new update. Maybe my expectations were too high but it sounds like they're adding a bunch on nonsense imo. Nothing I heard makes me want to get back to playing everyday again. They asked us for suggestions and many ppl have given them yet the suggestions mentioned the most are not getting added. Wtf? Its as if they said "thanks for your suggestions but we're not using that stuff. Try our ideas instead". lol Its as if the whole "post your suggestions" offer is just a way for them to give the community false sense of envolvment to keep us interested. Don't get me wrong this may just be them getting their feet wet before adding the bigger ideas later but I think that's just wishful thinking. lol

 

We seriously getting Teenwolf as a freeroam activity? lol Wtf does Teenwolf have to do with the GTA theme? This idea is nothing more than a rip off from the modders who jump in severs in god mode and entice the whole lobby to try and kill them. lol Anyone can see "Hunt the Beast" is really just a bounty in God mode. Turning the bounty into Teenwolf and taking him off radar don't make it some entirely new game. I commend them for taking these elements and putting together something official buts its a below par idea. Shouldve gave us something better to introduce freeroam activities. King of the Castle, Cross the Line, etc just sound like deathmatches or better yet Hold Captures. Very disappointing. Sure its free content but free is irreleavant if its stuff you dont even want. I dont know why they just wont add the stuff we asked for. Things that will have longevity and replay value like...

Yes hello I am outraged because I don't understand how difficult it is to actually implement new mechanics in an engaging manner. I am also dismissing the fact that this is only the first update sans-last gen consoles.

 

 

Sarcasm aside, I never understood the Casino fixation. It just seems like adding a bunch of minigames in my opinion. Other stuff I can understand the outrage over, free roam bank robberies I still do not understand why it isn't implemented. Other things I can understand why they aren't in yet. The afforementioned Casino is not as simple as flipping a switch, businesses would requirt a Heists-levrl amount of work if you want it to fit in seamlessly, multiple people operating the same businesses what's the point? If anything it would just be another superficial set of minigames for meh level cash.

 

I think the biggest thing Online needs is making money meaningful, more so than throwing your money away on black jack or a towing company (the f*ck you think this is? A business simulator? What the f*ck is the point of that) or f*cking copy and paste cars or palette swapped clothes (oh yeah remember when we put in a Mclaren that one time? You know what this game needs? Another Mclaren. Oh how about the lowrider we released in IGG 1? Yeah let's use a slightly modified version of that. Hey the Dinka Thrust too, let's slap a KERS system in that piece of un-fast sh*t and call it a day!).

 

People need to think outside the box more. What about instead of a business, you establish a criminal enterprise based on your crew? The crew leader manages his crew, it could be real players, it could be AI. The crew leader can use his hard earned cash to buy crew property. A customizable HQ, complete with (after upgrading with said cash) facilities like a garage and an armory. The crew leader can set crew vehicles, customize them and allow crew members to use said tenplated vehicles. The crew leader xan assign crew members and crew specific Free Roam missions (break into other player X's hideout and steal drugs, or a car, or money). There could be whole lobbies dedicated to this with locked weaponry or a set of rules (Free aim only, no homing missiles or no sticky bombs or a very limited amount of the high powered weapons, limited number of military vehicles, etc.)

 

I dunno probably too ambitious for a game developed for last gen consoles but I am annoyed by the recycled make Casino or else R* or other horsesh*t, poorly thought out, shallow DEMANDS (not suggestions) out there and the pathetic ire that seems to come along with.

* Freeroam Bank Robbing - All the banks should be open to being robbed just like the stores except they should only be available to rob at certain times of the day. Also, since the payout will be much bigger its understandable to add a cooldown period between robberies. Anyway, how it would work is basically the teller would be held up at gun point just like in store robberies except instead of them putting cash in a bag you would follow them to the vault area and they will open it. Once they do you can then steal the cash and escape. Depending on how you did it would determine how many stars you have during the robbery. There would be 2 ways to do it of course.

 

Loud and dumb - Can be done solo or with a crew. You or your crew run in and immediately shoot everyone. Then you or a crew member will have to push the button to open the door to the vault area. Then you or that crew member would blow the door and grab the money and escape. Once you blow the vault doors the alarm will go off and it then becomes a decision of how much money to take before the cops get there. Either stay long enough to take it all allowing the cops time to come and surround the banks or take as much as you can before leaving just before the cops can surround the bank.

 

Silent and smart - Can only be done with a crew. Your crew will go in with no guns drawn and everyone takes a position (if the teller sees guns he/she will push the alarm). When ready everyone acts together. Crowd control will keep the customers intimidated (if any NPC escapes they will call the cops so you must hold them at gun point to make them stay down), while another crew member holds the teller up at gun point to make him open the door to the vault area as well as the vault itself. Once its open steal the cash then you all escape. If done perfectly no stars are gained.

 

 

* Drug Dealing - After bank robbing I think this is the most wanted activity in GTA freemode. It not only adds another avenue to make money but it also adds more action to freemode. This idea doesn't require any major additional mechanics either as it uses mechanics that are already present in the game (gang attacks circles, Simeon's import feature and the weapon wheel drops). This one is explained in too much detail for this post so I made a seperate thread for it. Please check it out and give your thoughts.

* Rescue Mission (credit to Gaffa for parts of this idea) - First they would have to implement getting busted online. What I mean is the cops dont shoot to kill at first. Instead they will look to arrest you. This means they will foot chase and try and take you down physically and cuff you (if you shoot at them THEN they will look to kill). Anyway, if they are successful with the arrest they will put you in the cop car and take you to the station. Your blip on the map will blink red and blue signifying you are being transported. Your mental state at the time of arrest will determine the way you are transported. For example, if your dot was white you'll just be in a cop car with two cops. If your dot was red you'll be transported in a riot van under protection of several SWAT team officers and cop cars. Either way once at the station a short cutscene will play of them walking you into the station. You then spawn outside the station. Your mental state at the time of arrest will determine what they take from you. White dot you just get fined. Red dot you get fined, lose your vest and the last weapon you used during your evasion.

 

OK now here is where the rescue comes in. Once they put you in the cop car you get a prompt on the screen asking do you want to request a rescue. If you dont you just get taken to the station. If you request a rescue Lester (who will know of your capture via police scanner) will send a text to the lobby offering the job. Your blip will then blink red and blue. Ppl then can come to your rescue, kill the cops transporting you and open the door to the vehicle and let you out. Once free you pay the person or ppl who rescued you using the share money feature in the interaction menu.

 

 

* Hitman - Can be done through Lester or any other contact you can call. They could also call/text you for work. Regardless, if you accept they'll send you the target and how he must be eliminated via text. A blip will then pop up on the map showing the target's location. Go kill him in the manor requested. The methods of execution should be creative so there are no simple kills. An example is put a sticky on the car they are driving, follow it and when they get to the requested location blow it up. This can be given to individuals only or to the whole room like Mafia Works in GTA IV.

 

 

* Bounty Hunter - Similar to Hitman except you don't kill the target. Instead you must catch him/her then transport them back to a specific location. If they're on foot you must knock them down then point your gun at them to make them surrender and get in your vehicle. If they're in a car you must make them wreck or yank them out then point your gun at them to make them get in your vehicle (would be cool if we could tie them up and put them in the trunk). Anyway, take the person to the drop spot and you get paid.

 

 

* Fireman Missions - Get in a firetruck and answer calls to put out fires. Faster you do it more $ and RP.

 

 

* Paramedic Missions - Get in an ambulance and answering calls to help random peds. Faster you do it more $ and RP.

 

 

* Fight Club - They would of course have to update the mele system for this to be a viable minigame. More on that here. Basically this could be like GTA4 where there was a designated place to go fight or it could be random places on the map.

 

 

* Foot Racing - This entails triathalons (bikes>swimming>running) and canon ball (go from checkpoint to checkpoint by any means) run type races. Hell they could even make some of these races go underwater such as having a checkpoint in an underwater wreckage.

 

 

* Random events like SP - The ones where the little blip randomly shows up on the map and you can intervene like helping a women get her purse back, helping either the police or the criminals in a shootout, etc.

 

 

* More minigames - Things like pool, dominoes and cards (poker, spades, etc) which could be played at a gambling shack or better yet at your apartment (these minigames should be bought tho via apartment customization, link below for more details on this).

* Owning Businesses - Just like single player you buy a business and get a set amount deposited in your account at the end of every GTA day. Things that come with the business are security and other random missions. Security as in guarding your store from being robbed or escorting or taking your daily earnings to the bank safely. The way this will work is when in route its just like the armor trucks except the truck icon would be different to differintiate them from armored trucks. Anyway, the objective is to just make it to the bank before someone robs you. If you are the robber then once you steal the money you cannot deposit it into your bank account thru the phone or ATM. You must take it back to your safehouse to claim it. If you were the one robbed and the $$$ was successfully taken to their safehouse then the $$$ will be deducted from your bank account.

 

Missions would be things like the manager calling you and telling you that they ran out or are low on supplies. You must then go get a van from your business, go to a warehouse to get your supplies then take it back to the store. Once you get your supplies from the warehouse tho once again a truck icon will show up on the map. The objective is to make it back to your business before someone steals or destroys it. If someone steals or destroys your truck you lose $$$ from your account. If you are the one stealing the truck you must take it to someone who will buy the contents like Simeon's does the imports.

 

The only problem I see with this is conflicting ownership as far as the businesses. What I mean is if multiple ppl who own that business are in the same session. My suggestion is if you are the only person in the session who owns that business then you are the sole owner and get the full revenue and responsibilities but if multiple ppl in the session also own the business then you all become co-owners and must share the revenue/responsibilities.

They couldve done so much better with the debute of free roam activities. At least they could've given us ONE of the main requested ideas like drug dealing or freeroam bank robberies. Was so hyped when I heard the news about the update then read the info and was let down. I expected things more on the lines of the theme of the game. Wtf does Teenwolf have to do with GTA? Seems like they lost their way a bit. Thoughts?

R has released an half-game thinking to develop the game for 2 generations.I would have bought a PS4 from day 1 if i knew that GTA 5 will come to ng consoles.That way i wouldnt waste my money on ps3 version of the game.

Before you think i'm some NG elitist i'll let you know I play(ed) both. I used my PS3 to start my 2nd character and level up and still play with my PS3 friends. I dunno if I'll keep playing on PS3 tbh. I'm pissed i can't do a one finale "Liquidate everything" for my PS3 and transfer my 2nd character over, but I know it'll never happen and I've come to terms with all that.

 

But yeah some LG-ners are pretty whiny lately. We got told around the time they released it for NG that LG would eventually cease to receive updates and such for the very same reason they just gave us.

 

I'll agree, maybe it wasn't wise for R* to drop 5 onto PS3/360, but they did it for whatever reason they have and chances are they remastered it because of how successful it got if it wasn't in their plan all along. It wasn't "a naughty" it was a strategic business plan that's played off in spades for them.

I'll agree, maybe it wasn't wise for R* to drop 5 onto PS3/360, but they did it for whatever reason they have and chances are they remastered it because of how successful it got if it wasn't in their plan all along. It wasn't "a naughty" it was a strategic business plan that's played off in spades for them.

Yea thanks lol 10 years difference is a lot of difference and they actually forced the truly power of the consoles they originally released the game on(GTA sa for ps2 and xbox) .GTA 5 was meant for ps4 and xb1, but they developed it also for ps3 and Xbox 360, and by doing that they released an half game.Gta5 would be much better if it was only meant for 1 generation of consoles.

if you still expect more content for the NG then it would still be half a game and you'd still be complaining.

Whether it was or wasn't, you got a ton of game for the buck and 2 years of very regular very free updates and additional content. If you're that mad about it, stop playing.

I am not mad about it.What i am saying is they could do a better game.SP has only 69 missions and its boring as hell, MP sucks, there are a good amount of cool stuff, but the number of issues outnumber them(lag when in an another players car, loading times,car physics, timeouts, hackers, glitches etc etc).They could definitly force the power of LG consoles if they didnt think about CG consoles.

SP isn't exactly a short game, even with only 69 MAIN STORY missions, there's a ton more random encounters and events. As for MP, it's all about which sessions you play in. I stick to solo, friends/crew, and invite only. I can count the number of times i've encountered lag, a dropped connection, or any real problems on a single hand. Car physics aren't realistic, i agree, but a lot of things aren't. Hackers can't be fought, it's a losing battle, sucks but another perk of CG and non-pc gaming.

 

LG can't go any further without seriously updating some things and R* has to go by the stock fittings of the systems to determine what they can push out to the generations. it's a lot more complex than people realize. So no, they can't just force the power, whether they moved to CG or not we'd be in the same boat.

Yes hello I am outraged because I don't understand how difficult it is to actually implement new mechanics in an engaging manner. I am also dismissing the fact that this is only the first update sans-last gen consoles.

 

 

Sarcasm aside, I never understood the Casino fixation. It just seems like adding a bunch of minigames in my opinion. Other stuff I can understand the outrage over, free roam bank robberies I still do not understand why it isn't implemented. Other things I can understand why they aren't in yet. The afforementioned Casino is not as simple as flipping a switch, businesses would requirt a Heists-levrl amount of work if you want it to fit in seamlessly, multiple people operating the same businesses what's the point? If anything it would just be another superficial set of minigames for meh level cash.

 

I think the biggest thing Online needs is making money meaningful, more so than throwing your money away on black jack or a towing company (the f*ck you think this is? A business simulator? What the f*ck is the point of that) or f*cking copy and paste cars or palette swapped clothes (oh yeah remember when we put in a Mclaren that one time? You know what this game needs? Another Mclaren. Oh how about the lowrider we released in IGG 1? Yeah let's use a slightly modified version of that. Hey the Dinka Thrust too, let's slap a KERS system in that piece of un-fast sh*t and call it a day!).

 

People need to think outside the box more. What about instead of a business, you establish a criminal enterprise based on your crew? The crew leader manages his crew, it could be real players, it could be AI. The crew leader can use his hard earned cash to buy crew property. A customizable HQ, complete with (after upgrading with said cash) facilities like a garage and an armory. The crew leader can set crew vehicles, customize them and allow crew members to use said tenplated vehicles. The crew leader xan assign crew members and crew specific Free Roam missions (break into other player X's hideout and steal drugs, or a car, or money). There could be whole lobbies dedicated to this with locked weaponry or a set of rules (Free aim only, no homing missiles or no sticky bombs or a very limited amount of the high powered weapons, limited number of military vehicles, etc.)

 

I dunno probably too ambitious for a game developed for last gen consoles but I am annoyed by the recycled make Casino or else R* or other horsesh*t, poorly thought out, shallow DEMANDS (not suggestions) out there and the pathetic ire that seems to come along with.

Also, all you've done is harp on "one" of the ideas suggested. You're not even addressing the actual topic. Its not about the Prison Break idea. You're in tunnel vision mode bro. Its about things that make more sense to add then what R* is giving us. This is not an assumption. You can call it my opinion and I'll accept that but its nowhere near an assumption. Bank Robbing, Drug Dealing, Prison Breaks, etc are GTA themed things. and what we should be getting. Hunt the Beast and King of the Castle are not. This is my argument. Lets try debating that.

No doubt the direction GTA takes is going to be contentious; i.e. even military vehicles aren't everyone's cup of tea, etc. I don't think there is any perfect or easy solution. But two things bother me about this update:

 

1) The lack of intentional planning that wasn't happening when they "came up" with the "Hunt the Beast" idea (really?). Makes you wonder how much thought is really being put into the game. Are they just getting weary of the GTA world that they don't care whether it fits with anything else now? What else is going to crop up that has no context or leverage with anything else in-game?

 

2) The direction GTA could quite easily take (like TF2...a mess of outlandish 3D objects and weapons with little thought or concern for the game's long-term consistency and feel).

 

Originally, GTA 5 had a huge amount of time, effort, and detail into the backstory, characters, etc.--massive script for GTA Story Mode characters--all that takes planning and thought. But anyone can now argue that we may be at a "crossroads" in GTA Online of throwing all that to the proverbial wind if nothing need fit or have a plausible explanation/backstory.

 

I want to believe that the freemode events update is a one-time only "stop-gap" measure to keep people entertained while they work on GTA-world content consistent with its characters, setting, etc. (prison, casino, etc.)

 

Again, time will tell.
