Looks like no more updates for last gen

These days, previous gen V is basically a totally separate game to current gen, it makes sense they'd put more effort into the future games.

Asking why there's no more updates is like asking why they aren't updating vice city anymore...

As a PS3 and PC gamer, i feel with you guys. I also can't leave this feeling that not only console gamers are left behind, but the followers of classic GTA as well, since storymode wasn't profitable enough compared to online and i'm fearing that R* will abandon the setting.

My oh my you sure are a salty little boy.. The pot calling the kettle black when you call me a fanboy.

1.) you're comparing a $350 PC to a 360/PS3 which costs roughly around $80 these days.

2.) 30FPS? Bet you it wasn't locked. Now imagine if you spent that money on a PS4 or XB1 instead. I bet you the FPS would be much more stable without optimizing and installing mods, etc.

Also tell me about these warranties that these custom built $350 machines come with just in case something happens.

3.) Guess you didn't watch your own video you posted? He mentions two programs he used to optimize his GTA to get 60FPS. Also if you bothered to read into anything you post, his computer is overclocked meaning you kill your warrant right off the bat, and is an optimization.

4.) In this "potato masher" he's convieniently forgot to mention the cost of an operating system, which puts your potatoe masher realistically at about $450+

"Ah to be young again"

You are, either that or you have the mentality of a boy. Only someone under the age of 18 would get literally upset about console/PC related things.

Yes, I am calling you a fanboy, your original comment was a jab at PC's. Gotta call a spade a spade.

Lol, why would I do any of that? You've already proven you won't admit to facts being shoved in your face. Also, you wants so much facts, yet your "$1000 for anything decent" claim was founded by nothing but pure air.

And we're talking about GTA V. You tried to sidestep from your ignorance by bringing up crysis in a feeble attempt to do f*ck-knows-what.

I own a ps3/4 and a PC.

Want proof? Let's scrim in any GTA:O job.

You just can't admit you got shown how wrong you are. Simple as.

I admit that I'm not "tech" savvy but I do know that with all the updates R* has put out already the memory in my PS4 is almost used up so I don't know how much more mine could handle without a memory upgrade. Having said that the Freemode dlc looks kind of lame to me and the memory could be better served doing something meaningful but that's just my opinion

Yes they did. Now you last geners can untwist your knickers.

Last geners. We made groups now? Come on wake up we all love the same game.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's all just excuses - they probably just want to push everyone to buy the game a second time. Pretty sleazy, cruel move either way if you ask me anyway.

modders are laughing at this statement. Even they know that at some point you have to start replacing or swapping because of memory consumption. Its a bitter pill but last gen has to swallow it.

That is storage not memory

Storage is taken by the physical size of gta

The issue is the RAM (random acess memory) on the ps360. I know the 360 shares its 512 MB RAM with its CPU GPU and somerhing else. That 512 mb is all the last gen console has to pull from. The more ram you have the better and smoother programs run and the more complex programs can be. In a game such as gta v these limits are stressed to the max causing texture pop ins ect. This got worse after the heist update because like rockstar said they were basically maxxing out. I belive the ps4 xbone have 8 GB Ram? Alot more so more can be done like high res poly FP mode and the hundreds of new animations for it

The PS4 has plenty of spare power for GTA, remember most of the game is a port from PS3, very low end graphic detail really.

If you can't get the current gen consoles yet, use your computers. I'm assuming people have computers of course, being the age of thr Internet and all.

I mean, once you get a computer, everything else is free and/or in Steam.

I don't know, according to most people you can't just use any ordinary computer, you need a special Limited Edition Alienware with Gaben and Razer blessed parts.

Current gen should be using full capacity of 8gb of ram. That's what it's there for, if it's not being used it's a waste having it. That doesn't mean more can't be added to the game which won't impact it's performance in the least. The ram is and should be used to cache as much as possible and that's just what it's doing. You could probably run two instances of gta v and switch between them without noticing any difference between that and one, it's just the way it works.

However, the 512mb shared ram of the xbox360 is really tiny today (shared system and graphics ram). Imagine 16 players with 16 cars decending on the same location. The car models, textures etc (and those of the players added) could easily be around 10mb each - that's not a fantastic amount individualy. But that would be 160mb used up just on the players and their cars! never mind the environment, other traffic, pedestrians and game mechanics. You cant swap stuff out of memory if it's still there.

The differences between current gen using 8gb ram capacity and old gen using 512mb to capacity is that new gen is caching alot it might not even use but is there just in case. It could quite possibly use 2gb of ram and be indistinguishable. A computer will use resources if it's available.

Thanks for ignoring all the information I posted, and ranting so hard. I never once claimed I was a fan of any specific console or gaming device. You came to conclusions based on a sentance of "enjoy your sand"

No one said, and no one would specifically build a $350 computer only to play Grand Theft Auto so obviously I used other games as examples, you dummy.

I also don't want proof that you own anything, because I dont play with angry bitter people. Why would I admit im wrong when there's been multiple people to agree with me?

It's time to fold your cards and go home.

SIDE NOTE: Great job de-railing OPs thread with a Console vs PC debate. Real original topic!

correct me if I'm wrong but in the beta logs didn't this game had memory issues right from the start?

so I can see why there would be a memory problem

i addition to this when will rockstar tell it's loyal last gen customers that not only this upcoming update is not for them but also that there won't be any new updates for them either?

is it really the right and appropriate way to say good bye by ruining the expections of getting a new announced update and then telling them "no, your last update isn't this and neither another upcoming final update for you guys, no your last one was already the igg2 update! surprise surprise!"

an appropriate way to say good bye to the older gen customers would be to announce this some time before the last update and then giving those people a last update with at least some consolation content to being able to spend some money on.

if i'm wrong with all of this i'll be sorry.

i was always thankful to rockstar for giving me such a great time with such a great game and all the additional content.

but now i'm really disappointed on how they treat and lie to their community, if there is really no more update coming to last gen.

What game maker calls all its customers to say they are no longer supporting the game?

My point is that all game makers announce closing severs and support for games to either media outlets or their own forums. If you don't frequent those sites you'll find out eventually when you put the game in and can't connect. Rockstar hasn't committed any foul announcing last gen can't handle anymore significant updates. They can't very well notify every customer through certified mail.

PC: Well over $1000 for anything decent

Enjoy your sand!

Well, lets see. My PC isn't exactly what you would consider highend or topspec, actually it's allready kinda old hardware that I'm running but I can play GTA V perfectly fine (everything set to max, except texture resolution because my vidcard only has 2 gig of video ram). I'm running an old Socket 1155 Core I5 2500, 8 Gig Ram and a slightly overclocked GTX 750 on an older Dell Mainboard. I bought all of these parts used and installed them into an old sharkoon tower that I still had around together with a cheap 520 watt PSU. All together these parts cost me about 250 Euro so I wouldn't really say that you need a absolute highendsystem for thousands.

LMAO

Why do people think that just because you still play GTA on last gen that makes you "loyal"?

I don't get this either - as if they deserve something from R* because they have played the entire time on one system. As opposed to others who have gone and bought the game twice and played across multiple systems.

you are right with that.

but anyways they could have told the people when dropping the igg2 that this would be the last update for them.

or if not then, at least when announcing this upcoming one and not letting people in exspectation that they would get it as well.

instead of this a third party (ign) is the one that announces these news.

it would be a nice good bye though if rockstar would give these people a small content update as consolation in my opinion.

by the way i didn't mean that the players on newer gen are not loyal players.

i didn't mean to compare the player base of older and newer gen.
