[PETITION] Rockstar North, Do not kill Grand Theft Auto

Guest

Recommended Posts

As we've recently seen in the IGN interview, all of Rockstar North's efforts are now with GTA Online, which is extremely disappointing.

Treat this post as a mood board, voicing a message to Rockstar North. We should set up a petition requesting that Rockstar North's efforts are split from online to both online and single player experiences, wether that be GTA V DLC, or future games.

It is unquestionably one of the greatest series of games ever made and to many players it's art and a unique experience that can't be got anywhere else. I don't know about anybody else but I will not see it reduced to what GTA Online is - just another game.

It will be difficult, this forum is just a minor fraction of the 40 million players that played GTA V.

Hence the thread I have started. I think it can be a great starting point. The internet will do the rest.

How many of them will actually do something other than post cat gifs?

That cat gif is 1 more story than GTA Online provides. It has a place.

As much as I love GTA Online and GTA V, I believe that Rockstar need to start development of their next games, if they haven't already.

It's true. I think for them as a business with salaries to pay and shareholders to impress it's more financially suitable too.

It thankfully doesn't effect other franchises that are produced outside of Rockstar North. Red Dead for example.

No offense, but a lot of petitions / letters that start like this go no where. Even if all GTA Online players signed it, Rockstar just wouldn't care at all.

GTA Online is a turd, they can polish it but still it will be a stinky turd. I hope that next GTA will also have next version of Online that current players will be able to upgrade to for free hence "access to all it's content" slogan used by Rockstar in marketing. Currently Online is lacking and all it's aspects can only be improved by starting from scratch because right now it's like 2008 again, with improvements over GTA IV multiplayer but only minor and in basics through really complicated tricks and peer-to-peer sh*t.

Let's just hope that same team won't be in charge of singleplayer DLC content.

ROCKSTAR MANIC

Yeah, IDK about this. Safe to say that SP is on the ropes right about now. Look lets not worry. North is "experimenting with Online right now, Trying to figure out if it could be standalone game itself. The time will come when SP gets its fair due. Till then just wait it out. Cause for a fact we aint going to get anything related ATM.

I don't wanna say stop being idiots but... seriously? I'm very confident Rockstar North is in the first development stages of the next GTA game.

I dont care if they dont make next GTA with story. Online is very appreciated under few conditions:

-World is bigger and more alive

-Gameplay is fluid and not repetitive

-Graphics up to date (GTA V did a great job)

-Having more things to do

-More places to explore (interiors, and other random stuff)

-Detailed world with animals again

-Deeper and better customatization

-Much more weapons and vehicles

-More missions and side missions, random games, challenges, races, surivivals, team works etc..

-Higher player count

And list is higher....

But i dont know, its up to Rockstar, they learn from their mistakes per every title, and with money they earned from V, i can already see more bigger and better GTA. When will new GTA come? In 2020 or so? Yeah 5 years from now if not more, doesnt matter, as long as its what true GTA experience is.

Come on now, this isn't going to get any attention, but I respect what you are trying to do. I am conceding that there will be no dlc after reading today's article, but that's okay. We don't know what else they have in the works. I would trade the dlc for new maps/cities gladly. And that is something we've already been told to expect, so instead of worrying about what might not be, we should start looking forward to what is still to come.

And like it or not, today's added features to GTAO are some of the most intriguing yet, I would even argue better than heists. Let's just see what they do next.

Bro they aint ever gone cut GTA off like that. Its their biggest money maker. Money drives. I would be willing to bet more players be on SP than online. IMO its like if you a kid and you get a new little sibling, it gets more attention at first because its new, a change from normal. Thats why they stay showing GTAO love. By the next GTA i think it will be back to what we always knew. Showing love 50/50 just like your mom will with your lil bro/sis after a year or two

R* don't give a sh*t. You can petition all you want. You can complain all you want. They never have cared. They never will.

Maybe once their profits start to take a hit. But I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I hate it, too, because I prefer SP. GTA has always been about the SP for me. Waited so long for V and we got a half-assed SP with a rushed story and "our focus is on GTA: O lel kthxbai".

GTA Online is incredibly successful. Of course they're allocating as much resources to it as possible. They wanted to create a multiplayer thing as massive as their usual single player experiences in the past. And now they succeeded. That's it.

But that doesn't mean that they're scrapping / mutilating everything else they are working on. I am pretty sure no other Rockstar project will be overshadowed by this. Delays are happening, of course. Which is a damn shame though, but hey.

Good luck with the petition! If I'm not mistaken every single petition started by random people demanding things from Rockstar has been successful in the past decade.

Dude, R* North isnt ONLY focused on Online, they also work on OTHER future Singleplayer titles and many other work, as Imran Sarwar said.

Rockstar North is also currently(well a few months ago) establishing new Jobs and a new position for a studio lead, implying that they are expanding their work force to work on future games.

I didn't know they were looking to expand, so that's great news. I'm completely for them developing online as yes it's massively successful and can be special with time. But for me and probably others creating new worlds and games is more important and I don't want that hindered.

And to everyone else, let's not be so negative. I haven't started a petition. I wanted to start a discussion about a petition, that's all. It's clear it's probably not a good idea, so I won't pursue it further.

Thanks.

Nope, and your title "Neither fanboy nor hater" is kind of wrong, you clearly are a hater, otherwise you wouldnt bash a series on a forum which for you died 6 years ago lol.

The next R* title will be just as amazing as V or MP3, and its going to be something special again.

Also GTA V is far from beeing the "death of the series as many claim".

Yeah, of course there are new fans. They never played the older games so they don't understand how SP used to be valued back then. They are the call of duty generation and all they care about is multiplayer. But hey you know that old saying "a sucker is born every day".

Your post couldn't have been more pain inducing. Apparently people who actually like V have "never played the older ones". What a load of bullsh*t. You should really change your member title, because all I'm seeing is a full slap in the face of irony.

Only R* San Diego can save us from the poorly made SP and 100% focused Online world of R* North.

Help us R*SD, you're our only help.

Don't get your hopes up too high. Last time I did, I ended up with overrated fanboy infested sh*t.

V was a great game but not as great as many were expecting.

After RDR, max Payne 3 and LA noire I guess the hype was out of control

Nameless Foot Soldier

Maybe they meant the online portion of their upcoming Story DLC. And I truly believe that they'll add a bunch of new stuff from the story DLC to their online world.
