Aqua97
As the title states,(literally) Some members make big topic titles and are unaware that it will go out of the title box, so we may need some sort of a notification or even a box next to the topic title saying "maximum 20 characters per topic title" for example. ~Tiger~
Some members make big topic titles and are unaware that it will go out of the title box If this happens, all they need to do is report their own OP and a staff member can edit the title for them. Ryan
I don't understand what you mean by going out of the box. You have 150 characters for topic titles. That is more than enough. Aqua97
Aqua97
Right, okay then, it was just a passing thought.
Flachbau
That's more than what Twitter allows you But honestly, the main issue is that people are including so much into their titles. You don't need a whole sentence to get the point across. For example, "Rockstar announces GTA VI for next gen and PC along with a new trailer" can simply just be "Rockstar announces GTA VI". Paraphrasing is key.
Vik
I don't understand what you mean by going out of the box. I think he means to imply that some words get cut off if the title is too long when browsing a certain forum and seeing the titles of threads. hornedturtle
Is it ironic that ops tittle is too long.... A hard cutoff might be better

He means sometimes write a long title and the end of the thread title ends up getting cut off... Something like not allowing the thread to be posted until the title fit the required characters so if the the max character allowed is 35 but there are 36 character the thread won't be posted until that's fixed. Ryan
In that case, that is likely caused by the resolution you are running on your monitor. Vik

No...He means that the title is too long that it gets cut off in mid title.. I.e say the max amount of characters in a title is 30 characters and someone writes a title that is 56 character and then post the thread when the thread is posted only the first 30 characters will be shown while the rest is cut off due to the max amount of characters allowed. Kirsty
#GTAForumsProblems I believe the reason very long topic titles get cut off is because of the formatting of the skin template and the size settings of the area being displayed, not because there is a character limit in place. I understand the reason for suggesting it but it's a very minor problem that can be easily fixed with a quick report to staff like Tiger said. You don't need essays in topic titles, it's the OP that counts. We won't be doing any adjustments to this skin or these kind of settings at the moment until we upgrade the forums towards the end of the year, as we're not sure what will and will not be carried over to the new version as yet.
