Aircraft need flares

Hydra, Lazer and Besra are the only aircraft that DEFINITELY don't need flares. any aircraft slower and less maneuverable than those three can use some

The only thing that the slow planes can use are some better pilots. How inept at flying would you have to be to get shot down in ANY plane in this game?

 

On topic, everything that can't dodge the homing launcher efficiently should get flares. That means every aerial vehicle apart from the Lazer, Besra, and Hydra. Those all have methods for dodging homing missiles, and they work often enough that you can rely on them. The other aircraft though, have an unfair chance of being hit by it.

 

I guess this inept. Cars are your friend.

 

Even a slow plane like the Velum has an easy time avoiding HM's.

I was flying one over LS when a guy in a jet came. He tried to shoot me down for about 15 minutes, but he was never successful. I kept dodging the missiles until he gave up.

 

There's really no excuse for being shot down in any plane. The only excuse is that you just admit that you're a bad pilot.

On current gen, NO. Passive.

 

I've yet to be hit by a launcher while flying backwards... I'm thinking there is something to that.

 

You can excuse anything with passive mode though. Cheaters, being massively outnumbered, etc. Using passive mode as a "tactic" makes combat meaningless - anything can do/beat anything if you're willing to abuse something that was clearly put there for playing peacefully. Besides, a large amount of gta's players are on last gen.

 

I'll have to try out flying backwards some time, probably with a Cargobob (those can survive a missile, so can be good for testing stuff). It would probably have to be timed well, so the helicopter doesn't flip the other way round, and obviously you'd have to know where it's coming from. But maybe it works, need to test around more.

 

Srry. I meant flying in jets backward. The missiles fly right past.

Spoken like someone who doesn't have a clue what he's talking about. The homing launcher's missiles are very different to the homing missiles a jet/helicopter has (which can be dodged) - I thought this was a very well established fact by now?

 

The missiles a homing launcher shoots are faster, can turn much more sharply, and will stay in the air longer before they explode. If you haven't been flying long enough to figure this out, maybe it's best you just step down and stop telling everyone who's a good/bad pilot.

like Icantthinkofonew said, you have no clue what you're talking about. tell me how often you dodge heat seekers of any kind, flying a Titan? if you say "all the time", then i can easily assume that you're lying, have never had a heat seeker fired at you while flying it, or you simply have never flown it in free roam. and if you have evaded one, then let me be the first to say that it was luck, not skill. the game's physics simply do not allow this plane to stand a chance against heat seekers.

 

don't pretend to be a professional pilot, because a professional pilot knows any aircraft that's less nimble than the the three i've listed can very well easily be smacked out of the sky, most with very little chances of evasion, due to how long lasting the heat seekers are and how sharp they turn. there's simply no touching the three planes i've listed, because they're fast, don't lose much speed when turning and can turn pretty sharply- planes like the Titan, Miljet and Luxor don't stand much of a chance.

 

and don't bring up flying out of range, because those planes don't get up to speed all that quickly and they don't climb all that fast either. after taking off with anything besides the two fighters and the one stunt jet, you'll likely still be within range of having a heat seeker fired at you for a good minute.

 

now stop trying to talk yourself up all while bragging about being able to escape situations that you've never been in. you're not impressing anyone.

While I'm certainly in favor of changing nothing, I'm not a jerk, so I enjoy ironing out possible solutions that appeal to both sides of the argument. It keeps things civil and gives us an actual solution that most people can agree upon if Rockstar ever asks, instead of forcing them to do something you or I (or *shocker* possibly everyone) might ultimately hate later on.

 

Just ask anyone against the homing launcher if they want another solution comparable to it added by Rockstar without prior consultation.

Rockstar fixing their servers? No chance. I agree they should fix the game, but they're never going to do that. They're just too tight (they don't like to use up much of the 1B$ we gave them).

 

In the mean time though, they may as well add stuff.

 

Edit: and flares being something we "don't need" is debatable. Almost 75% say otherwise. The non - fighter jet aircraft could really do with something to help stop them being cannon fodder for homing launchers. Flares could do this job pretty well, as well as possibly helping to cut down on those jet pilots that just like to chase Titans and Froggers, etc.

 

Maybe you don't need/want them, but they'd be appreciated by a fair amount of people, and if we can't get dedicated servers (they'll probably never give us them) we may as well ask for other stuff we want.

The Besra doesn't need flares (it can dodge homing launchers), and I wouldn't really push hard for it to get them either, but at the same time it wouldn't really hurt if it did get them, since it can't shoot anyone. The other two jets are a different story though, since they can not only already dodge homing launchers, but can attack people as well.
