What does it take for someone to earn your respect ?

Good clean overtaking in a full contact race = Crew invite

Good clean racing and friendly on the mic = Friend request

Good sport = Preferred player (XBL)

..and if someone legitimately outplays me in any game-mode, I'll generally let them know that I was impressed :)

Is this about the game or in real life?

seeing as it was posted in the GTA : Online section, i'd like to think it was kind of clear we were talking about the game.

People compare this game with real life, they compare it with Saints Row and many other games.

So was just asking ;)

fair enough :p

People that help out low levels instead of treating them like easy targets(although I rarely help out low levels, because I've been killed trying to be a nice guy).

People that actually work together and use mics in heists, instead of trying to Rambo it.

People that don't leave a heist lobby after a 45 second wait.

People that don't quit a heist after 1 death.

People that don't take their k/d seriously.

If you don't die in trash truck

If you don't spam explosives

If you don't call Lester or wear a helmet in a deathmatch

If you toot your horn at me in a cheerful manner.

It's easy to earn respect in missions/heists but in free roam, how can you earn anyone's respect when all they want to do it kill you? lol

The kids who are using rocket launchers in GTA Online are the same kind that used to put the gun against the screen when playing Duck Hunt.

Drive a street car with a street color, and horn friendly. I'll not kill you.

I saw some guy on a BMX taunting a Zentorno-reverse-killer with some sweet bunny-hop maneuvers - earned my respect!

Help me out if the odds are against me, give me a lift or pick me up out of a bad situation/location etc.

One time in particular it was 3 vs 1 and I was able to handle myself quite well, but then they ended up with a tank and jet and I struggled - got a text from a random saying he was coming to help make it more fair and the next minute his jet came zooming in, taking all 3 of them out and giving me chance to get back to a decent vehicle. We then farmed them. :D

Edit - Humour! If you're funny and join in on your mic, we'll probably end up being friends. I tend to take the piss out of people a lot and if you join in and give as good as you get, you're cool.

1. Don't drive a car that looks like Giantsgiants customized it.

2. Don't wear that f*cking stupid looking Pogo mask.

3. Don't belong to any crew that has mafia, killers/killaz, thug/thugs/thugz (I'm sure I could go on) in its name.

A Paradox from 94

If a squeaker or heavy breather asks me for sex while I am using my female character but doesn't take her on a date first well...R.E.S.P.E.C.T is not something you'll get from me.

I respect everybody with a shirt.

Welp... players in trailer parks across the world are saddened to hear this.

OT: I respect everyone that doesn't want to kill me. If you turn out to be an asshole, prepare yourself because I'm going to f*ck you in the ass with my Pump Shotgun or my Heavy Sniper.

Being helpful and not being a troll will earn you grace points, where I won't go out of my way to screw with you, but there is no respect to be given in a virtual world.

Don't start sh*t every time you get the chance; or if you do start sh*t, make sure you can handle the blowback. I don't really enjoy killing the predictable idiots 5+ times because they think they're a god with a sniper rifle/RPG/bulletproof car etc. Also, I like people who can kill creatively.

People who actually talk in freeroam. I once had a casual conversation with a guy about beer, family, cars, work while the whole time we were mercilessly slaughtering each other. Just playing the game for fun, not talking sxxt and insulting.

So I guess I respect people who don't take the whole thing too dam serious.

I give a lot of respect for anyone who enjoys the world around them. Anyone who chills in a cool area, or a neat spot. The 'secret' room at the airport. The beautiful waterfall and spring surprisingly few people know about. The wonderful playground that is the rooftops at Paleto Bay... people who go out and see San Andreas at eye level for what it's worth, I respect.

I'm not entirely sure I play video games to get power/money/laid/respect IRL.

Do a backflip in a Faggio and try to get into a cargo plane through the nose. My respect level to you would be over 9000!

i used to drive it a lot. its great for ramming randoms or mates vehicles.

i only really use it for off road races these days or if the boys want to climb chilliad.

i will give anyone a fair go, especially if they have a mic and are not carrying on like a tool.

Not trying to take me out in races - instant respect

Not quitting races because you know you wont win

Not killing me in freemode

Not assuming anyone with a high rank is a cheater

One way to earn respect is to over take cleanly, the worst kind of players are the ones that spin you out on a race, I think I'm probably the only person that apoloagises if I accidentally spin them out and actually waits up for the person
