What does it take for someone to earn your respect ?

In GTA:O it's been discussed time and time again how the player community is pretty sh*t towards one another. My question is what does it take for you to think someone is a cool guy , or someone that you would "respect" ?

Personally, I respect the guys that don't strictly use Miniguns and RPG's in deathmatches. As well as the guys who take the time to message you "good game" or something to that effect, after a fun competitive game of any sorts. It's really refreshing as opposed to the hate messages and name calling.

What about you guys ?

Honestly, something that makes me think "this person is pretty cool" is when they don't just randomly try to kill you for no apparent reason other than to upset you. I know player killing is part of the game, but it does get annoying after awhile when, for instance, you finally find a cool car you like after searching for awhile and while trying to drive it into Los Santos Customs, people either blow it up, or kill you while you're in it and then either blow it up, steal it, or refuse to let you re-enter. Or when you're clothes shopping (or gun shopping, etc) and while browsing people just run up and kill the store clerk and then kill you. Repeatedly :sui: . Again, I know that's part of the game, it just gets old. So usually instead of getting harassed for going into passive mode, I just play in either Solo/Invite sessions or Crew only sessions and those are usually a blast :D But yeah as long as you don't just randomly kill me for no apparent reason, harass me, basic stuff like that, I'd totally hang with someone.

If you don't die in trash truck

If you don't spam explosives

If you don't call Lester or wear a helmet in a deathmatch

If you toot your horn at me in a cheerful manner.

A line from my profile from when I joined this forum (during the build up to IV):

"Everyone starts with my respect, until they do something to lose it."
It's still relevent now and is a general rule of thumb in my everyday life.

Don't kill on sight unless provoked, don't dress like the joker, and customize your cars in a way that an actual human would still drive it.

Earning respect comes for many things.

Do the contact missions with other or do heist jobs with other players.

If you stay there and help very good, then they will know you help out and will earned you respect. Even if you host your own stuff for them.

If you have great stuff during time in Freeroam.. I know lot of people I joined in public usually goes curious or asking. If you ever join forces with the player and ward off any players doing like griefing, etc that put hurt on them. They will like You and you will earned respect from them.

What I say earning respect takes good deeds and all things that's helpful.

Be nice and respectful especially when I'm minding my own business.....

To gain 12-14 year old kids respect just be a modder and drop money on them and also be in god mode then they'll worship you:D

Everyone initially has my respect, we are all playing the same game. We should have each other's mutual respect. I lose respect for anyone who speaks ignorantly or disrespectful or those who send aggressive messages.

Die with dignity.

Anyone who doesn't mow me down when I'm out riding a BMX.

Anyone who doesn't drive my PV into the lake in Mirror Park (vehicle access always set to everyone)

Anyone who doesn't shoot at me and run away or kill me then say "sorry bro" when I retaliate.

Anyone as a mission host who waits more than 2 minutes for other players to join so the other players joining don't get the "Player is no longer in session" screen and booted back to Free Mode.

Such players are rare unfortunately.

There is no respect in GTA. I was reported and received negative reputation points on Xbox live after I killed a kid who tried to kill me first. He got 3 of his buddies and they came after me in a Valkire and the insurgent with the gun. The vaklire crashed and I killed everybody in the insurgent. They reported to Microsoft and I can only play with "Avoided" players! I got 4 unsporting points. Coincidence? I got reported by sore losers!!! There is no respect in GTA! You get punished for outsmarting your adversaries. I'm probably going to get a Playstation 4 because of Xbox live's flawed reputation system!

I like players who start sh*t and then stick around and keep fighting even if they're losing. What makes me really lose respect are players who start sh*t and then as soon as they realize they might have bitten off more than they can chew they resort to cheap tactics like trying to go passive and come back out when I'm busy, or firing RPGs while keeping the interactive menu open and hovering over commit suicide so they can hit you with the rpg but kill themselves at the same time, preventing you from bringing them down with you.

Players that apologize.

In a game like GTA , saying sorry is a revolutionary act.

How about texting the whole lobby to have a wonderful day?

-they must understand that all the best rap music was made between 1991-2001.

-Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player who ever lived

-weird Japanese anime porn is NOT ok

-it is always ok to make fun of morbidly obese people

-quoting Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, and Ace Ventura is always ok in game chat

-smoking weed is not an excuse to screw up in the game. You should be used to it by now.

-you must have played a video game console that required cartridges at some point in your life.

Respect is non-existent in the gaming world.

No-one will ever earn my respect nor would they want it.

Keep the respect for yourselves.
