JOEsAGGRESSIVE
18yrs... I cannot believe its been 18yrs since Diana's tragic death. I recently saw an article about that and thought I'd share and hope anyone else could share something as well. "England's Rose" was just 36 when camera-flashing motorcyclists chased her to an ugly death inside a tunnel in Paris on this date in 1997. Her wealthy Egyptian boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, and the driver were also killed. Lady Di left behind a stunned world, a grieving nation and two young boys. William was 15; Harry, just two weeks shy of his 13th birthday. Diana didn't live to see William get married four years ago in a ceremony that conjured up memories of her own royal wedding to Prince Charles in 1981. And, of course, she missed out on the thrill of welcoming into the world her oldest son's two children, George, now 2 years old, and Charlotte, born four months ago. Time marches on. But 18 years later we're reminded of the cruel moments that get swept up in its path. I will never forget your impact you had on this world that even a child who never her of Wales before was affected so profoundly by your passing. Rest in peace Lady Di. ciel

bloatedsack
I cannot understand how the British support publically funding a royal family. If it's such an important figurehead, then fine, by why on Earth you blokes allow them to suck at the public teat is what really baffles me. I get a sense of pride over your country/etc, but really, they can pay for themselves. (I also don't understand why any American should fawn over this nonsense, but whatever, everyone needs a hobby I guess) am30
Pete4000uk
I remember that day. Seemed such a strange time. I think if Britain had a heart it broke that day. I'm the same age as William and I can't imagin having that happen to me. Gave the royals a wake up. RIP
Claptrap NL
Was watching The 90's or something like that on Discovery. Part I saw was the last part and went about this. So sad man this happend. Glad her sons look more like her than they look like their father. R.I.P ps. I've been in London and saw this special marks on the street, was that a route Diana did jogging? It was near Buckingham Palace. Edited September 1, 2015 by Claptrap NL
Fuzzknuckles
Sometimes I wonder what the last thing on her mind was. Probably planning what she was going to do later...Then, crash, dead... I think it's more likely that the last thing on her mind, before the dashboard, was the paparazzos that were chasing her car. And wondering why the Queen wanted her dead so badly. Signatures are dumb anyway.

sivispacem
but really, they can pay for themselves. They sort of do, manyfold. I'm not a monarchist on principle, in fact I find the basic idea pretty old-hat, but every study I've ever seen into the economic costs versus benefits of the monarchy has come to the conclusion that they're revenue positive for the British state- that is, they bring in significantly more than they cost. ciel
We have no choice in funding them, that royal wedding in 2011 came from mostly taxpayers. The only royals I like are Prince William and Kate. I hardly remember Princess Di growing up, I wish I did though. She would've been over the moon to see how adorable her grandchildren have become.
