Local Tracks and Track Days

What are the nearest tracks to each of you and do they offer track days? Have you been to a trackday and how was it? Did you learn anything?

 

To start

 

My nearest track is Bishops Court.

 

Here is a map of it

 

I have yet to attend a track day at it but have attended bike races there (Sunflower Cup)

 

I regularly see drifters and bangers going to and fro as the track is about 5 miles out of town.

 

I must get anouth run to is someday

 

Another couple of tracks in the same county are Nutts Corner (part of the rally cross ciruit and 25 miles away (10 miles from Belfast))

and Kirkiston (on ards penisula and about 15 miles away) another bike and drift track.

 

All the tracks have track days.

My local circuit is Castle Combe, but my closest Motorsport venue is Prescott Hillclimb. I've been to both a number of times, the former as both a spectator and whilst driving (I hesitate to say "competitor" as I was only competing once on their short rally special stage as part of one of the event days they used to do there), and the latter only as a spectator. Combe is a great track day circuit, pretty forgiving for novices. I did my MSA ARDS National at Combe, many moons ago.

 

In addition to Combe, over the years I've done Silverstone (GP and national), Donnington Park, Bedford Aerodrome, Spa and the 'Ring a few times.

I got my National B as I was intending to compete in rallycross, but never actually raced competitively in any league or championship which required it. I must have obtained it what, 10 years ago now? So it's long lapsed.

Jurby Airfield track, A disused 1940's airfield.

And the Billown course in the south of the island:

But I have spectated on them all.

In less than an hour I can go to Mugello Circuit, but I don't know if there are track days there.

Is there not the Peel circuit as well?

I think the closest track to me is Lime Rock over in Salisbury, Connecticut. I've never been there before but I would love to attend a track day or maybe even participate in one, some day.

My local track (Castrol Raceway) is about half an hour away from my house. It has a 2.7Km road course that was finished last year, a 1/4mile track, oval dirt track, motocross track, and a skidpad we use for drift practice (just beside the 1/4 mile & in front of the track in the pic). I'm there every week in the summer for drift practice and I've turned a few laps on the road course back when I helped out at drift events (yay for special access because I have to be on the track!), which is really fun, especially the long sweeper which has a 6 degree bank to it. There are open lap days now and I do plan on attending a few next year as you get to go out with professional race car drivers your first time out so they can teach you proper racing techniques.

My nearest racetrack is no other than the infamous Autodrómo Hermanos Rodríguez, about an hour and a half away depending on traffic.

Nearest one is Zwartkops Raceway:

 

 

Next would be Kyalami, which is SA's best known racetrack because it was used for Formula One until '93:

I was invited this summer but had to bow out. $495 was too steep after purchasing my latest bike. I had to pay for too many mods to track prep it within four weeks and couldn't hack it. Soon, though!

 

A friend of mine and I found this abandoned one, though. It's free and fun!

Lime Rock seems to the closest 'major' track to me as well, 1.5 hrs away. Watkins Glen and Circuit Gilles Villeneuve are 3.5 hrs from me.

 

Upstate NY is really big into supermodified racing. There's lots of short tracks around, including some really close to me.
