  3. 3. Overall 2 years on, what would you rate the GTA Online experience as ?

It's really all about what you make of the game. I managed to make my own entertainment with friends and have a lot of fun in different ways just from our own creativity.

I didn't expect it to be exactly like the trailer, but hoped there would be as much team work as seen on the trailer, and still hope for that sometimes. I wish more players would team up against the AI, but most of the time people just wanna kill each other to stroke their ego.

Killing each other in TDM, LTS, other vs. modes has always been fun, but I never understood doing it in freeroam.

The exploits, glitching, & modding ruined Online. If we played the game the way Rockstar designed for us to play it, we would be having a blast. GTA Online has to be the most overrated and hyped game of all time. Don't get me wrong- it's still a great game, but the thought of what it COULD have been has me shaking my head. R* should have done a BETA.

I'm gonna have to agree with you on this to some degree. Even though I glitched myself Rockstar should of not only did a beta but took action on youtubers posting vids instead of promoting them. Glitching at one point is so bad it's basically apart of the community.

Lets see the trailer doesn't show the aimbot AI

Shows vehicles that aren't stealable and vehicles that aren't even in online

Shows teamwork yeah in GTA:O and I'm the pope

Shows how the real GTA:O has very exorbitantly over inflated prices.

I could go on but safe to say the trailer does not show that the real GTA:O is actually a warzone.

lol that trailer was great back then. The only reason I even bought GTA 5 was to play online. I never really cared too much about playing as scumbag criminals with low brow writing and story anyways. After volition went full retard and turned their SR series into "Ow my balls" the video game I got so hyped up for GTA 5's multiplayer thinking R* was going to fill that void and perfect the sandbox formula by taking solid ideas and shine them up, then I was lucky enough to log on at launch day...

Going to be honest. Out of all the 7th gen xbox 360 multiplyer games I have played at the time GTA 5 online was hands down the worst online game I have ever played at the time. Worst than turning point, worst than tenchu z, worst than perfect dark zero, worst than the fable's coop, worst than dynasty warriors. Yeah some games were bad but they didn't screw up on everything, there was at least a few things I could look at and say "At least they did these few things really well". With GTA 5 I honestly couldn't. Before heist came around I could not think of a single thing R* did right with the multiplayer other than visuals and detail. I'm not the type who gets instantly impressed over vanity when it comes to video games.

I will just make it fast. damn the typing.

-It had the most moronic character customization system in video game history. What got me was the fanboys and apologist who made excuses for this saying stuff like R* were trying something new and with this system you could "mix races". What these people failed to realize is that if you stop and think about it for two seconds you will understand how terrible the system sounds on paper so it should of never been done in the first place and "being different"=/=good.

Traditional system with sliders for morphing and colors or rigid choose preset models to vaguely get what you wanted? Should be a no brainer. You can still create your biracial african/asian without the dumbass gene mixing so what GTA 5 online did was pointless and counter productive. Even with the NG PC version it still sucks because you can only choose skin tones of a parent and just about everyone online is just a clone with a different nose position because only a handful of parent characters will give you a normal looking character, especially female users. parental trait system belongs in a fantasy game with orcs, goblins, elves and maybe something with mutants with alien features, not a game based around the standard human species in a realistic setting.

There clothing options were also lame. All the male options just seemed to be the stereotypical dude-bro-douchebag-hollister-abercromby-and-fitch-beach-boy look.

You also can't strip down to simple swim wear or your tighty whities. No one goes into the water wearing slacks or flip flops. You can the get full strip option in story mode but you needed to complete it first, WHY? These are such basic SIMPLE features and yet they managed to f*ck it all up in multiple ways.

-Its balance was abysmal and still is in many ways.

No need to use any other shotgun other that automatic because the range differences are barley noticeable and you still have to shoot people with the same amount of shots to kill. Savage gunship is a joke because you can take it down with a 9mm. Helicopters in general are underwhelming. Low ranks have substantially less health than those who are higher. Helicopters snipers can take them out in a burst and 1/2 and can instantly kill them if they have no armor. Heath regen does not suit the gun damage, armor is almost pointless and the consumable system is atrocious.

-The world is not even remotely close to being seamless or persistent and it completely failed to mimic how a MMO (Even pseudo-MMO) is supposed to feel. If this was, certain locations like banks would function like a lair or raid spot where players could get together and try to assault them. Then they reset over a period of time. This would of been a perfectly legitimate reason to keep police in free roam at all times.

-Artificial difficulty out the ass, R* even patched their BS A.I to cheat even more after people were farming..

Their accuracy is pretty much pin point all the time. Their guns are trained on target at all times regardless if there is a wall in front them. You cannot stealth them once they are in combat, they can fire guns at minigun speed which should be impossible. They have broken spawns during missions. Cop cars get free catch up. They shoot through walls. They do 180 degree snaps wit no animations and proceed to instant gib a player and terribly wound another. Their pistols reach beyond allowed ranges. The only reason they don't destroy the players at all times is because the fire in burst.

-Skill progression system that just makes things more difficult for new comers when it should just be a true skill measure and that's it (in terms of shooting and operating vehicles).

Lots of people with maxed out driving "skill" but can't drive for sh*t and there is a lot of sharpshooters who rely on rockets and automatic shotguns to get kills.

Flight school was a good idea too bad they don't use the challenges to display true skill so others can actually utilize it during heist set ups.

-Limited time DLC items.

Rockstar logic.

I would bet If R* was in the business of brainstorming and manufacturing dental supplies they would be that group of that thought of the chocolate tooth brush for the kids to encourage brushing, they have like zero common sense without community input.

Not A Nice Person

I still can't do "Titan of a Job" in badass approach like the trailer did until now.

I also still never seen a convoy of players under wanted level and they got away completely harmless with cops being so tame like shown in the trailer.

So, no. Not even a basic gameplay showcasing game balance in the trailer was accurate.

However, my expectation on Job Creator being abused and become a trash maker, was totally accurate.

This, I enjoy the character aspect of this game but that's it. It's just people chasing and killing each other, jets swooping from the sky, terminator cops, and the hiests were pretty disappointing. The last 2 yrs were just me spectating warzones in Buzzard or shopping during updates, no thanks I'll play an actual open world with a better community.

You have to be creative to enjoy the game, but that's for people who only strictly play this game.

I swear people on here overly exaggerate the "bad" or "negative" aspects of this game

I play this game WAY more than I should....lobbies like the one you described honestly come 1 in every 5/6 sessions (I'm being generous)......

that is the beauty of the game, if you get in a session you don't like, simply change session

notice the word warZONE - one area of mayhem, you don't have to be anywhere near that, I have had amazing experiences with both randoms AND friends, same as bad ones with both - just like life, if everything in games went in your favor you would get bored VERY quickly

gamers like the challenge right?

Thing is, its every session that's like that. I think this game is one of R*'s few failures. Just my opinion.

Just to throw in my two cents...

First of all, great thread "OP." I still don't know what that abbreviation means, but, I'm told it refers to the person who wrote the topic in the first place.

Anyway, personally, I'm very happy to see that the majority of the community that exists on these forums does not like the direction GTA Online has gone. I'm not saying that because of GTA Online, we should all riot and threaten the employees at Rockstar Games... believe me, I've heard some pretty stupid stuff when it comes to video games and said "hardcore fans" - here's looking at you Destiny; it's just that when you get down to the nitty gritty of it all, GTA Online just isn't that fun of a game, especially after two years. Although admitting, the game can be fun at times, of course, especially when you have your friends, but for the most part there's just too many moments that bring down your overall enjoyment - comparatively long loading times, glitches, bugs, hackers, running out of things to do, etc., etc. To me, it's just as simple as that.

But there's a question I wanted to ask to anyone willing to answer. Now before I do ask though, I must include that I originally disagreed with the idea that Rockstar Games were going down the path of the "Free to Play" style of game and gameplay with GTA Online... however, I too have to admit after looking at how GTA Online has 'expanded,' it just seems that that is what they have decided... in summary, basically sacrificing gameplay over profit.

But that leads to my question. To me, it seemed that GTA Online wasn't originally planned to be this way. And, again, just as far as I have seen it, it seems that after GTA Online launched and they encountered what would have appeared to be far more bugs and glitches than expected, the in-game economy was 'virtually' destroyed, and a huge mass of the new players that had bought GTA V, were now gone due to all of this... and with all of that combined, including some other unmentioned subjects, GTA Online just started to lean more and more towards the "Free to Play" idea.

So with that, my question is: Do you think GTA Online was always planned to be a "Free to Play" game, or do you think that it was or is like any other of their multiplayer open-world titles, i.e., Red Dead Redemption and GTA IV?

some threads are good at bringing out the dumb-asses, this one of them, i wont let up this time, ima quote every dumb f*cker

I'm tired of internet stupidity

basically people expected R* to read only YOUR mind and implement your wishes to perfection, be real, its a video game and a very good one at that

Such an intelligent and enticing reply bud.

As much as I enjoy GTAO,the spontaneous faults of connecting towards activities,un-appreciative community, and the plethora of horrible community created content that buries gems really doesn't make the game what it's intended to be.

I believe if you combat glitches, enforce community content, fix connection errors, and stay in touch with players...the game would equal the trailer.

That is what this game is lacking....coordination,polishing (connection error wise, and combating glitches and community content, while communicating. If that happens, this game will be golden by a long shot, but I sadly don't see it happening. With the 2015 and 2016 packing some good games,I believe if R* doesn't get their act together,a good chunk of players will leave,as a matter of fact,IIRC shark card sales are dwindling,so we NEED change, otherwise you may not see that many active players R* expects on a day-to-day basis.

what is your perfect game, what game has infinite "things to do" this is a sanbox game, not a linear game, meaing player freedom, when YOU run out things to do (even though there are millions) its YOU who has run out of ideas

what is this fun super, never gets boring game you guys are playing, i really wanna try it

what games is bug free? ill wait...

in fact, what game these days are people dedicated too for longer than 2 years (dnt name another R* game, thats too easy) sports games come out on yearly (seasonal) basis, with the tiniest of changes, plus full price attached

virtual economy destroyed? give me a break, since when do games honestly care about virtual economy, how does that effect you

i cant deal right now

This is what I wonder as well. Which games are it that are so much better and are being used to compare to GTAO? I kid you not about that, I would love to play a game that is better than GTAO as a whole. Most of the new games I seem to play are "Pick up this gun and shoot that sh*t. Pick up another different gun and shoot more sh*t. Oh here's some cool armor wear that and shoot more sh*t".

Other thing I dont get is if people dislike this game enough to write a 6 paragraph essay on, why are you still either playing it, or are lurking on the forums? An honest non ranting answer would be great.

I clearly agree with you, with an expansive world this big, persay in gaming "history",if a player runs out of ideas,it's there fault.

what is this fun super, never gets boring game you guys are playing, i really wanna try it

Its subjective but..... : Uncharted 3...soon to be 4 if I get a PS4,GTA IV,DC Universe Online,Team Fortress 2,Dota 2,and Minecraft.

what games is bug free? ill wait...

No games are bug free, but there are games with minimal bugs ;)

There is a lot actually : Any CoD game,DC Universe Online,Team Fortress 2,Dota 2,Minecraft,and practically any game that has multiplayer.

virtual economy destroyed? I lol'd

give me a break, since when do games honestly care about virtual economy The developers usually care if they are reliant on some form of micro-transactions to keep servers running.

how does that effect you It doesn't,unless there are people that are very passionate about this game.

i cant deal right now ok :p

Off Topic : I always enjoy debates on the Online Section, they are a bit fun :)

I love this game, but I'm not going to lie every point you made is true and Rockstar could do have done better. But I'm not a game developer and won't even attempt to discredit them in a field I have no knowledge of. Edited by A Paradox from 94

what is your perfect game, what game has infinite "things to do" this is a sanbox game, not a linear game, meaing player freedom, when YOU run out things to do (even though there are millions) its YOU who has run out of ideas

what is this fun super, never gets boring game you guys are playing, i really wanna try it

what games is bug free? ill wait...

in fact, what game these days are people dedicated too for longer than 2 years (dnt name another R* game, thats too easy) sports games come out on yearly (seasonal) basis, with the tiniest of changes, plus full price attached

virtual economy destroyed? give me a break, since when do games honestly care about virtual economy, how does that effect you

i cant deal right now

Other thing I dont get is if people dislike this game enough to write a 6 paragraph essay on, why are you still either playing it, or are lurking on the forums? An honest non ranting answer would be great.

It's not persay ranting, but people showing, may I say "Tough Love" because they have a passion for it.You know when your'e Dad screamed at you but he is just dissapointed?I think the same applies here. They love the game, its flawed, and with "love" they show in anger, they want the game to improve and flourish,at least that is what I believe :p

lol that trailer was great back then.

90% of these threads are either

A Paradox from 94

Pokemon is the perfect game for me, but when I purchase a game I'm not holding them to a scale of Perfect or Sh*t. If it is fun it's fun, if not we'll that hardly ever happens for me.

I clearly agree with you, with an expansive world this big, persay in gaming "history",if a player runs out of ideas,it's there fault.

what is this fun super, never gets boring game you guys are playing, i really wanna try it

Its subjective but..... : Uncharted 3...soon to be 4 if I get a PS4,GTA IV,DC Universe Online,Team Fortress 2,Dota 2,and Minecraft.

your not even playing on new gen, 1st mistake right there, I LOVE uncharted but its just a super advanced mario ( you have to follow where it tells you to go, you cant explore or make real decisions on how to tackle obstacles, unless in gun fights)

what games is bug free? ill wait...

No games are bug free, but there are games with minimal bugs ;)

name the GREAT world renowned games with minimal bugs, name three....

in fact, what game these days are people dedicated too for longer than 2 years (dnt name another R* game, thats too easy) sports games come out on yearly (seasonal) basis, with the tiniest of changes, plus full price attached

There is a lot actually : Any CoD game,DC Universe Online,Team Fortress 2,Dota 2,Minecraft,and practically any game that has multiplayer.

any Cod, you are kidding me right? I dunno about the rest so I cant comment on them but are those games perfect?

virtual economy destroyed? I lol'd

give me a break, since when do games honestly care about virtual economy The developers usually care if they are reliant on some form of micro-transactions to keep servers running.

virtual economy relates to in game prices and commerce not actual monetary micro transactions

how does that effect you It doesn't,unless there are people that are very passionate about this game.

how does it effect the person who brought up this point

i cant deal right now ok :p

alrighty

It was good enough, BUT there's always room for improvments.

of course there are, this is all that needs to be said

and is exactly what R* have been doing since release

New Gen? : DC Universe Online (subjective in all honesty),Minecraft,Soon-To-Be Fallout 4,Witcher 3,Elder Scrolls Online,Soo-To-Be Just Cause 3 (if that is your niche) and some N/A LG games. You don't need a beefy computer to run Team Fortress 2,so you can add that into the mix.

(I also CAN NOT wait for UC4,did you see the collector's edition?)

what games is bug free? ill wait...

No games are bug free, but there are games with minimal bugs ;)

By minimal bugs I mean just minor problems, just a hitch here and there

-Witcher 3

-Batman : Arkham Knight

-AC : Unity after the patches.

in fact, what game these days are people dedicated too for longer than 2 years (dnt name another R* game, thats too easy) sports games come out on yearly (seasonal) basis, with the tiniest of changes, plus full price attached

Well each CoD game has some community of some source :p

As for other games....they aren't perfect, but they are darn close,as a matter of fact no game is really perfect if you think about it

"game changing"

one of the most annoying phrases I come across on here....

if you bought a game why do you want an update to change it? "i bought fight night, wheres the update that changes it to ufc?"

like what do people really mean

Since most of those people can't understand basic comprehension,I think they usually refer to updates that add new features constantly, which is absolutely redundant.

Looks like most of you had expectations from other gamers, not GTA itself.

Looks like from the trailer that everything has been implemented to me. The world has expanded much more than I thought it would. Not sure what others are expecting.
