GTA:O Announcement Trailer expectations 2 years on.

252 members have voted

  1. 1. Do you think what was said in the trailer has been fulfilled ?

  2. 2. Has it met all your expectations ?

  3. 3. Overall 2 years on, what would you rate the GTA Online experience as ?

Well the players got f*cked in the ass and its more like a warzone

Some of us prefer warzones.

I also prefer warzones, but not all the time. Sometimes its nice to just cruise around with other players.

There should have been a better passive mode so that players who want to bomb everything leave the other players alone, while they are in the same session.

I don't know, two years later and it still feels like they forgot to take the damn thing to beta stage, let alone completion.

lol expanding world

when has any world "EXPANDED" I think you miss understood them, they meant more content in the world, calm down people

The word "expand" in this sense would imply content that actually adds something new to the experience, instead of rehash of old content.

None of the updates thus far have really delivered in that regard. Most of them are "car, clothes and weapons", maybe with a few contact missions (all basically remixes of "fetch this" and/or "blow up/kill this", this also includes the heists) or rehashed versions of DM (LTS, Capture, Adversary Mode, etc) but that's about it.

Oh wait, you know what? I have an idea of what would arguably qualify as "expanding" - the Holiday Gifts update with San Andreas covered in snow, which is almost a completely different experience. That's right, the game expands for a few days every year then shrinks back to its original shape.

what are heists? what are smuggler planes? what are adversary modes? last team standing? what are new clothes, houses, cars, haircuts, taunts and tattoos? rehash of old content? you mean t shirts? or the overcoats? bomber jackets? masks? gloves? chains? neon? chrome rims? yhh rehash of old content indeed....are these not "something new to the experience"? are you reading what you are typing there - oh I get it, its not exactly what YOU wanted

looking at each individual update as a game changer is retarded...are you telling me this is the same game pre beach bum? are you kidding me? do players not make new races, deathmatches, captures? the game has expanded immensely

The game fulfilled my expectations.

But the community didn't.

This so much, it's like the mine craft players who cry there's nothing to do.

Now to make a proper post; after 2 years I still find online isn't "complete" even with heist. The game still has some potential, for example they could add mansions, casinos or even add North Yankton. I give online 7/10, mainly because of the bugs, glitches, exploit and server issues that still plague this game after 2 years.

I f*cking love this game. Are there flaws? Of course, every single game out there has flaws. In 10 years this game will be seen as the pioneer of open world gang style gaming. Its nice to be a part of it. :)

Rockstar themselves said GTAOnline is just a start. If you look at it like that, it's a pretty damn good star

The game itself is what us players make of it. Unfortunately, going by this forum, people would rather bitch than come together to do some kind of fun community activity. The game has tons of potential, and we are getting antsy. Rockstar is not totally absolved, they aren't perfect, but at this point, the game is what it is. Don't expect any major changes until GTA 6.

Whenever I look back at the trailer or the time I first watched it I feel like I'm playing a different game. Anyone else feel the same or is it just me?

Rockstar has a sneaky and underhanded way of editing action and combining cutscenes with snippets of gameplay action, showing all kinds of things that are not actual gameplay, while implying continuity, causality and capability that does not exist, tying it together seamlessly to make a fantasy trailer about a game that does not exist, but we wish it did.

It's easy to do. Once they get started, the marketers seriously lose track of reality, and get fully engaged in creating a killer trailer, as their product. Accuracy and truth be damned.

whats new, trailers trying to sell the product and make it look awesome....modern movies are much worse

actually playing this game tho is a billion times better than watching any R* or fan made trailer

Obviously the trailer is designed for hype, so it's rare to actually see that level of cooperation in any given free roam session, but overall they delivered.

Not A Nice Person

I still can't do "Titan of a Job" in badass approach like the trailer did until now.

I also still never seen a convoy of players under wanted level and they got away completely harmless with cops being so tame like shown in the trailer.

So, no. Not even a basic gameplay showcasing game balance in the trailer was accurate.

However, my expectation on Job Creator being abused and become a trash maker, was totally accurate.

This, I enjoy the character aspect of this game but that's it. It's just people chasing and killing each other, jets swooping from the sky, terminator cops, and the hiests were pretty disappointing. The last 2 yrs were just me spectating warzones in Buzzard or shopping during updates, no thanks I'll play an actual open world with a better community.

You have to be creative to enjoy the game, but that's for people who only strictly play this game.

Not trying to be a dick, but if you dont like the game, why on earth would you play for 2 years and just spectate? Why haven't you went and got a game that you enjoy playing?

The GTA Online trailer reminded me of how RDR was played online. Massive co op scenarios, teamwork, nothing super overpowering, and PVP game modes done right.

I love GTAO, GTAV is about the only game I play. I dabble with Rocket League, Arkham Knight, and will definitely get Fallout 4, but I always come back to GTAV. I hate to say it, but I enjoyed playing GTA4 and RDR online more than GTAO. I don't think it's the games fault, I think it's the community.

F*ck this game and f*ck Rockstar. That's how I feel about GTA V

why are you here? seriously

you guys must not like real life, you want to experience all the real world experiences and emotion with immortal freedom in a video game, its not possible, make of it what you will, its a sandbox game, the real world does exist, Jesus, some of you "gamers" man I dont get it

constant bitching, crying "I cnt do this, the game doesnt have this...." man stfu

Love this right here.

6/10 due to horrible connection, server issues. and many various things that R does not care to fix.. Without these issues, easily 8-9/10.

I swear people on here overly exaggerate the "bad" or "negative" aspects of this game

I play this game WAY more than I should....lobbies like the one you described honestly come 1 in every 5/6 sessions (I'm being generous)......

that is the beauty of the game, if you get in a session you don't like, simply change session

notice the word warZONE - one area of mayhem, you don't have to be anywhere near that, I have had amazing experiences with both randoms AND friends, same as bad ones with both - just like life, if everything in games went in your favor you would get bored VERY quickly

gamers like the challenge right?

Everything in that trailer is possible in GTAOnline.. so yes? Why would the actual game not match my expectations from when I watched this trailer?

How are there 40+ people that think that everything in the trailer isn't available in GTAOnline.. did I miss something?

Edit: You can't break the glass to a parked Cheetah.. that's about it. That might even be possible in capture GTA matches. Or perhaps it was changed so that players don't need to break in to eachothers cars.

Alhough I like GTA (V) online I still prefer Red Dead Redemption online.
Had much more fun in that game when I played it.

The exploits, glitching, & modding ruined Online. If we played the game the way Rockstar designed for us to play it, we would be having a blast. GTA Online has to be the most overrated and hyped game of all time. Don't get me wrong- it's still a great game, but the thought of what it COULD have been has me shaking my head. R* should have done a BETA.

And another thing- why would they introduce the Rockstar Creator so early in the game's life?? That should have been one of the last DLC's. Barely anyone plays R* verified jobs and activities. Their staff must have spent months putting all those together just for masses to abandon them not even a year in. Smh.

This game is great, it is unfortunate that we as humans have such short memory. Comparing GTAO day 1 to today is like comparing the IPhone to the IPhone 6. Yes they both function as they were first intended (A Phone/Open World Game), but the the plateau as of today is so high that if you jumped back to the former you might be confused about how you were ever amazed by it.

GTAO comparable to WoW. I got WoW when it first came out and it was really fun for the first 2 years. But then it started feeling like it was just one big grind and nothing was really changing. But 4 years later I look at WoW and its improved by leaps and bounds. Im sure GTAO will do the same, just gotta be patient and give them time.
