Can you have both Steam GTA V and Retail Version?

A long time ago I bought a retail version GTA V (Social Club key) and activated it through the Social Club wesbite. Then, I downloaded the GTA V through a downloader Social Club website provided me with, and now, I have it in C:/Program Files/Rockstar Games directory.

My friend gave me for my birthday a Steam key of GTA V. Now my question is this:

I want to have 2 characters, meaning I don't want my steam account to be linked to my social club account (if it's necessary, then I'll create another social club account, so that way I have 2 versions of the game). When I activate the game on steam, how do I link it to a new social club account? I don't want it to be automatically linked to my current one which already has GTA V.

After I do that successfully, will I have to download the game again (because it's a different directory - under Steam Games)? Or Steam will "know" that I already have the game?

Thank you.

Anyone?

Yeah you can have both versions...No Steam won't know you already own the retail version...

But here is where it can get tricky....If you've ever played any other R* games via Steam such as Max Payne 3 or GTA IV where you had to sign into Social Club then your Steam Account is already linked to whatevever Social Club profile you signed into.

Now since you haven't activated the game yet, You have nothing to worry about this is what you do, Go to the Social Club Profile you signed into while playing one of those games and then go into Settings > Linked Accounts > Unlink Steam.

Now if you haven't signed into any Social Club with your Steam account then you are good to go and it should ask you which Social Club you want to sign into or will ask if you want to make a new one.

As for your second question...Yes you'll have to redownload all 60GB again since Steam games go into a difference directory than the retail version does.
