Rockstar finally did it. They killed modding.

That last update they forced on us has made it impossible to add modified files to .rpfs in both your main directory AND a mods folder. I have tested this all day, and every time you add even ONE file to an rpf it alters the checksum. I have tested this with numerous mods from LA Roads to Real Billboards to real badges. If you are having issues PLEASE check your checksums because mine keep getting altered every time I attempt to add a modified file. I have noticed though that this seems to apply to anything that alters the looks such as texture files. For some reason it doesn't care about .xml or .meta files.

Yeah right. Sure there will.

There has been every single patch thus far, there's no logical reason to think otherwise.

Personally I haven't had any problems at all with modded RPF's with the latest patch - all of the ones I have installed work just fine, even textures.

You've been living under a rock, or your account is just filled with completely unexplainable complaints. Go take a peek at the modding forums, you can do all those things since the first day the patch released.

Lel, I keep failing to find the latest patch released today but all the OP did was talking with his butthole stuck in prison. That's why he doesn't know we already can mod the game.

And today I installed VisualV without problems.

I hope so. The damn modding crap is the reason the game keeps getting bad patches that are ruining the performance for players who don't even use mods.

The day Rockstar stops combating mods (either by eliminating them completely or ignoring them completely) is the day GTAV will actually be playable again on PC.

Modding is the reason for bad patches ? modding is the reason for a game to live years after it's expiration like SA,modding is wonderful but hated by those who have hard time wiping their own ass, really ? i mean for real ? bad patches come because Rockstar simply sucks balls at doing their job, they actually did try "killed modding" with V in order to keep players on GTAO but failed hard as we all can see,R* hates modding because its competitive to their money making machine (GTAO),and if we want to go in history R's devs are mostly console fans figure why they never support modding and always delay the PC release.

Every single one of these mismatched checksums are rpfs that have modified files in them. My game is crashing constantly, and this NEVER happened before the last update. WTF.

When was this patch released? I was using modded skins as recently as last night with no problems (Steam).

I am trying to get down to the bottom of how it is possible so many people are not having issues. I can see the result of me moving a single modified file to a .rpf - checksum checker immediately registers a different checksum everytime. Bare in mind that this is a freshly installed GTA V, where all the checksums were already validated. They are being altered with every file added to ANY rpf. I don't even know how this is possible. I am on an SSD, but also have an HDD partitioned. I will be attempting to install GATV again on it, and starting over. For some reason my game won't load up at all with anything other than just the original files. It always shows gtav.exe as the faulting module.

First you're happy thinking that Rockstar "killed modding" and now you're trying to figure how to run it modded, which one is it ? make your mind.

Yes this is all you,no one has any of this, you obviously are modding it wrongly get in contact with someone that will provide you a step by step on how to mod it.

Dude, WTF are you talking about?!? Not one word escaped my lips that said I had something against modding. I have never had ANY troubles working with over a hundred mods combined including countless new textures and scripts from the day OpenIV was GTA V ready until the last patch that updated gtav.exe I am not a noob, and know very well what I am doing. Mismatched checksums will ALWAYS cause problems. Do you not comprehend anything that you read?!?

I am guessing I will have to hit someone up on the OpenIV team. Show them before and after screenshots of these checksums being altered.. See if they can reproduce the same errors I am getting. Something has to account for how these checksums are changing by the simple addition of files to an rpf.

Use some reading comprehension rather than spending your time looking up gifs.

If you read the last thing I said, the day rockstar stops mods completely or stops trying fight the mods is the day the game will be playable. What I mean by that is Rockstar consistently focusing their attention on anti-cheat countermeasures is the reason for plenty of delays and issues with GTAV on PC. And there's lots of evidence suggesting that their anti-mod system is the reason those animations are bugged.

I generally don't care either way about the dumb mods. I didn't buy it to mod it, I bought it to play it the way it was advertised. But when the damn modding community is the reason behind Rockstar doing stupid sh*t.. that pisses me off. Both at the modding and Rockstar.

I seriously dont get why R* didnt just bound all game files to the SC, similar to how Ubisoft does it with Uplay.

This way we wouldnt have to worry about Online Modders, nor about some SUPPOSEDLY Anti Cheat measures.(I still doubt R* created them for the purpose of fighting mods, i think it was a mistake or some other thing on which we have no information on)

When the hell did I say they delayed the PC version?! I'm talking about updates and patches. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough, but I'm talking entirely about new content to the PC version, not the initial release.

R* has some issues.. but thank God that they don't follow any of Ubisoft's examples... Uplay is the biggest steaming pile of crap to ever grace PC gaming. There's endless problems with that software.

Also, there's a difference between the modding community and the hacking community. The latter is what's causing sh*t with online exploits and such. Educate yourself.

We've had plenty of community members here on the forum find evidence that the animations are bugged because of some DRM forced script in the files after Ill Gotten Gains Part 1 & 2. This is an indirect result of players modding the game files. If their "shark cards" and GTA$ are at risk of being exploited, you better believe new content is placed on the backburner until they can patch the holes.

@Nick930930

You have got to be kidding me ? this is what you said

focusing their attention on anti-cheat countermeasures is the reason for plenty of delays

Since when does the word "delay" apply to patches ? its not like rockstar gave a date for a certain patch then they changed its release to another date, just lol,the one and only delay regarding GTAV PC is the 3 delays before release, there isn't any other delays, what else could delay point to other than that ? good god.

Like I said, I apologized for not being clear, but I intended that to mean delays in patches. Don't have to get all hot and bothered about it.

Calm down over there, you look like you're having a heart attack.

And if you read my last post, I wouldn't be surprised if patches and updates are being delayed so rockstar can focus on fixing issues with cheaters. Their support page is absolutely flooded with people complaining about missing money and cheaters ruining their garage etc.

No its just that i have allergy against bullsh*ters who have no clue on what the f*ck they are talking about, especially pricks that dare to call mods dumb yet they havent even experienced mods then blame something as wonderful as mods for Rockstars sh*tty way of handling their game in order to promote something as low as GTAO.

Look at this, the game with the latest patch runs like sh*t without any mods,WITHOUT ANY MODS,but yet this guy insists on spreading his pointless hate on mods rather than Rockstar, you make it sound like Rockstar has around 5 personal working on GTAV,R has departments/branches all over for f*ck sakes its not a matter of resources, they are rich as f*ck.
