Ai®a©ob®a
I want to start using my TV while playing games on my PC but I still want to be able to have access & see display on my PC monitor as well? I bought a brand new Samsung LCD Monitor & on the back on the monitors it has an HDMI IN/OUT & then the regular DV cord. I'm using the DVI as my monitor cord so can I run the HDMI from my PC into the IN port & then run the OUT port to my TV?
RyanBurnsRed
You can connect both to one card. Assuming you're using an Nvidia card you'll have to go into the NVCP and under Display click on "Set up multiple displays"
X S
I actually just use the Windows 10 display options. I have two monitors and like to put one of them on my TV sometimes. There's an option to duplicate the selected monitor under display options.

swirler
I currently have my monitor and TV connected to one GPU via DVI and HDMI respectively. When I want to game on the couch, I just right click the desktop (win7) and go into screen resolution Beside multiple displays I select to show desktop on 1 display. Thats it, into Steam big picture mode from there. There are more options if you want to be able to view your desktop still while playing on another screen. If you dont have a tidy setup, check out steam streaming http://store.steampowered.com/streaming/ You can stream to anything, the hardware doesnt even have to be good on the receiving end - an old laptop with integrated graphics will even do. X S
How do you do this? So I don't have my TV hooked up right now, but you can see there's an option there to "Duplicate these Displays". Fiddle around with it a bit until you get it to display what you want. Most likely, your PC monitor will be on Display 1, click on that and then try to duplicate it on Display 2, which would be your TV. Swirler has it above on Windows 7. Duplicating it, however, will allow your PC monitor to continue displaying your desktop while simultaneously displaying it on your TV. For some reason it's not detecting my TV...When i i click the Rigorous Display Connection & Click Enable TV Connection it doesn't let me enable it, It just stays greyed out. My TV is only 2 years old and i have no problem connecting my Laptop to it

X S
I don't know much about the Nvidia control panel. The image I posted above was straight from the Windows 10 settings for display.
swirler
When it was failing to detect the 2nd display, was the TV connected to the GPU or the motherboard? Have you tried going into windows own screen resolution settings? Ive actually not used NVCP for multi display, Ive never even looked at the option tbh! Straypuft
you computer will always see your hdmi output as your main screen, be prepared for this. extending is the word to use when using both your tv and monitor at the same time, there is a simple windows command for activating and deactivating your second monitor, its called [Windows Key]+[P], if you want to still use your monitor as you sit at your desk, then you will want to remember that it will be called a projector.
