Iron Horse
Lately I've been using LSPDFR and some associated plugins, but I still like to play online. This means I'm constantly going back and forth adding and removing mods. Doing this right now isn't a big deal because I'm not modifying any files, but I would like to start adding new cars, sounds, etc. Would it be possible to have a secondary install of GTA V so doing this wouldn't be necessary? Or is there a better method I haven't found yet? Thanks.

Iron Horse
Well that was nice while it lasted I guess. It won't launch with RageHook, its claiming it can't find it. So I launched without it and my game files are corrupt apparently.
whorse
Nobody seems to do this but me, but I mod and play my game through this security program called "Sandboxie." I mod my game entirely within a "Sandbox", which is like a fake version of your computer's file system, based on symbolic links to the real files outside the sandbox. I make all my changes to my game files within a sandboxed-version of Windows Explorer, so nothing outside the sandbox is actually changed (my normal installation on my C drive is untouched, and still able to go online). I run OpenIV within my sandbox and it only modifies the game files that are also within the same sandbox. Running the game within Sandboxie also eliminates that annoying alt+tab lag you normally get when you minimize the game, and it totally protects you from any malware that may be embedded in the mods. If you want to try out some new mods without uninstalling the old ones, you can just create a new sandbox based on the vanilla installation (outside the sandbox) again, and mod the files again there. Then you just pick which sandbox to run GTAV from when you launch it, and you only get the mods you installed into that sandbox. Since the sandboxed programs do not know they are running sandboxed or that other versions of the filesystem exist, you can even simultaneously run multiple instances of the game (or Steam) from inside/outside the sandboxes (not sure why you would want to, but still) BTW: If you have the Steam version of the game, you have to launch Steam from the sandbox and then launch GTA from sandboxed Steam. I dont have the Steam version of the game, so I can just load it through PlayGTAV.exe Edited September 1, 2015 by whorse
