G3T STR4F3D
What is the chance that an aircraft will survive a single homing launcher rocket? Usually I find myself getting killed in one rocket, but I find that when I shoot an aircraft down they sometimes will survive one hit. Their plane/helicopter will be extremely damaged and unable to fly, but they aren't instantly killed and have the chance to jump out.
Captain Sensib1e
Good question, would like to know myself. I've been disabled in my Hydra, not sure what I was doing. Was thinking the missile self-destructed at the perfect time at the end of its range, but seems like a long shot.
filthstar0
Homing launcher usually won't disable undamaged aircraft with one hit, it takes 2 shots connecting
GTAOnlineAddict123
It depends on the aircraft. I know Hydra, P-996 Lazer and Cargobob all take 2 Homing Launcher missiles to destroy. There might be more that require two.
G3T STR4F3D
Homing launcher usually won't disable undamaged aircraft with one hit, it takes 2 shots connecting I've been instantly shot down in a brand new Hydra before, though. It depends on the aircraft. I know Hydra, P-996 Lazer and Cargobob all take 2 Homing Launcher missiles to destroy. There might be more that require two. I think it might depend where the missile hits, how far away it is before it explodes, and at what angle it is fired. I've been shot down and killed while trying to escape from the military base in a P-996 Lazer, but other times I have survived. My plane was in crucial condition, the afterburner was on fire and it was stalling, but I had the chance to jump out and parachute to another jet. Frankiepies
I was in a Hydra, technically like 3 miles away from some stupid troll...he shot a homing launcher at me, it blew me up instantly. I shot a HL at a Savage, which is a MORE CLUNKIER, SLOWER vehicle that was only 20 feet away..it did not hit him
Hunter
Not very high. As far as I know, there's only one aircraft that can survive a homing missile and still be left in a usable state - the Cargobob. One missile will leave it in dark smoke, giving you time to land and get a new one. There a few aircraft that can technically "survive" a missile, but they'll be in flames and will explode any second. The Hydra, etc. Also, sometimes these aircraft will just blow with one anyway, it seems random, though it could be where it hits, etc.

It would probably be similar to the Hydra (I think the Hydra's tougher than the Lazer). I'll probably get around to testing more of them at some point. Though I don't expect any other aircraft will be usable after a homing missile - the best most of them seem to get is on fire/about to explode, and that's if you're lucky. Rocket Skates
I think those golden vehicles can take two shots.
Creme_Brulee
It depends where the homing launcher hits. There are vehicles that definitely take 2 missiles to take down, like the Cargobob, Titan and the Luxor, and I think the Miljet (I don't own one so idk). Sometimes other aircraft will survive as well, but it depends on where they get hit. For example, if you're in a Hydra or in a Lazer and you get hit straight from behind (in the "exhaust", which I think is called afterburner) then you'll probably survive. If you get hit from below or above you'll explode.

Afterburners are used to create extra thrust when in dogfights and when taking off, and usually not used all of the time because they consume an extremely high amount of fuel. Imagine a missile hitting that thing head on. Either you would instantly die, or the rocket's explosion would ignite the gas inside and catch the afterburner on fire. But that's exactly the opposite of what happens, because of Rockstar's logic. When it hits the afterburner, is when you survive.
