What's your standpoint about mods in GTA : Online ?

Since I mod myself, and I fully admit to that, here is my 2 cents so to speak. So what mods do I use, I use a trainer as I believe that it just makes the game more fun and just quicker to do stuff. Does that mean I go driving around in a supercar with god mode and explosive bullets? No. Do I blow people up remotely? No.

 

That is not what trainers should be used for in my opinion, and I absolutely despise anyone that uses them in this way. I use my trainer to go have some fun with people, sometimes mess with them but for the most part I just change into my cop outfit, spawn myself a cop car and go drive around roleplaying and just having some fun.

 

Other things could include me helping other players if they want a certain car with certain components on it that are normally hard to find or helping newer players have some fun, like spawning a cargo plane and gathering everyone at the airport for a parachute jump, I don't teleport anyone to me unless they wish to be teleported, that is the sort of stuff I think should be done with trainer not the wind turbine bullsh*t and blowing people up around the map.

 

As for car mods, why not allow them? All they are essentially doing is just changing the model of a vehicle and most of them don't really change the hitboxes of the vehicle all that much.

 

If you* want people to see the difference between responsible/good/fun modders and people who just wreck the game for others, then fight the "bad" modders. It's a little hard to say what awesome heroes modders are when 99 out of 100 interactions with them is them trolling the entire session/screwing everyone over/wasting their time/stealing their stuff/trying to get people banned.

 

If you are tired of people ruining your reputation, then fight them rather than take up for them and tell others to stop whining when a huge chunk of their time is wasted by people f*cking with them "cuz they can for the lulz".

 

*By "you" I don't simply mean you specifically, Daequil, I mean the community of "ethical" modders. IT's simply hard for me to be sympathetic when [perhaps nearly?] all of my interactions with modders have been very negative.

We all know that's not why FiveM was shut down. R* felt that it would promote piracy of V, so they banned the creators. Now the problem is GTA V on PC requires a SC account to play, and guess what, you can't play even SP without it. So basically R* managed to turn people to piracy themselves by denying people the right to play the game they paid for.

To me this all boils down to a level playing field. I put myself in the category of users who:

 

a) Doesn't have a passion for dicking around with games files.

b) Just wants to come home after a long day at work and run over homeless people with a fire engine, etc.

 

I want to know that no matter what online lobby I'm in, that everyone is on the up and up. I don't think Rockstar (or any game company) wants to spend time on the banal minutia of determining "whats a mod, what isn't a mod" and constantly policing people's systems for dirty files or whatever. That said, if there were to be lobbies for modders only, I'd be all for that. At least you would know going in that it would be a free-for-all and you could mod/hack/whatever to your hearts content.

It is modding, despite the arguements of a couple guys that refuse to believe it. However in regards to the OP topic, I wouldn't really care if people used hex editors to MODIFY their game so long as it was done in single player only, and left entirely out of the online mode. I just have 0 tolerance for mods and quit any session instantly if I see teleporters, god moders, or anything related.
