What's your standpoint about mods in GTA : Online ?

Hey Community !

I would like to discuss mods in GTA : Online, not the technical aspect, but your standpoint on it. How do you picture the use of mods within the online community, do you tolerate it, and to what extent ? Do you think they are a no-go ?

The difficulty of the subject is that we can't divide the community into modders and non-modders, since the programms at our disposition are so diverse, there can be very different uses made out of them.

Killing the fun for others, no can do, that is where everyone reasonable person is on point and can agree on I hope (includes god modders, griefers, framers etc). Taking something which can be very productive and turning it into something obnoxious has to be a great talent of the human being, so considering the size and mindset of a great part of the GTA Online community, regulating modification within the community seems like a good idea.

Well even though I agree on Rockstars inquiry about "clean" lobbies, that's really the only way I can put it (yes, because we can't talk about respect in public lobbies) I disagree on their way to handle the situation. Personally, I'm using mods pretty much since day one, first in singleplayer, later in online aswell. What did motivate people, including myself, to use these programms was not a chaotic drive or appetite for destruction, they were sipmly not satisfied with the way the developer restricted gameplay to missions and free-roam, ignoring the depths to explore and the opportunity given to us by such a huge sandbox. I wanted extensive role-play, or role-playee like gameplay, licensed cars, advanced graphics, which differs from the already existent game modes. We wanted SA-MP, GTA IV multi etc. Having fun with my friends, just minding our own business. This was all for the purpose of fun and creativity. A productive use of mods, to get our most out of the game, which was definitely not a destructive behavior.

I have to stress that we are very polite and respectful to other players, therefore, if we did use mods to enhance our game experience, we did in private lobbies, far away from where it could disturb anyone. We do not use what people call troll trainers, we use things like the enhanced native, allowing us to do things like skip radio songs, do specific animations. But modding goes a longer way than only trainers, like graphical enhancement modifications, car modifications, better ligntning effects, other interface aswell. We do not use online cheats. So why is Rockstar reprehending the wrong kind of public ? Because going into a lobby today with a car mod or EMB shaders can be worth a ban.

Since games exist there were ways for people to shape a already existent content to their likings and this created one of the most exciting multiplayer mods ever, which was SA-MP or GTA IV multyplayer, something which kept sales going even 8 years after the release of the game. So I don't understand why Rockstar mindlessly pushes agaist this movement. Instead of opposing force to such an idea, something that can't end well, (that's where R* gets it's "no fun allowed" reputation from) why not ride with the energy the modding community brings with itself ? Instead of shark cars, private servers to rent, assure yourself that your game is has a substantially longer life-span, like GTA IV or San Andreas, because the community takes care of that, dedicated servers for public sessions, something which allows you to make it mod free, opposed to the Peer2peer system we have right now, which, sadly, makes modding possible to every scumbag in public lobbies.

So I'm wondering, why such a closed and reprehensive mindset if we could enjoy the positive aspects of mods, it's benefits, by managing the situation right, like the Steam workshop intended to do. If they would allow specific mods for intance, which could only enhance the game experience, things like LSPD:FR, the interiors mod, licensed cars and much more coud finally make their appearance on consoles like the PS4 and the XBox One. Obviously it would also allow them ro regulate parasitic modifications. It would reach Tf2 level, community created content for everyone to enjoy. I now see a lot of peeps getting banned, some of them for a reason, some of them for no valuable one. If i had to go to extremes I would ask, what's better, a non-modding psycho red dot, griefing and unpolite player, or a friendly, social player, which is only using a few car mods to drive a actual Ferrari, rather than a Grotti. Atleast give us that ..

The ability to modify a game in a productive way to unlock that potential is just extremely rewarding, this should not be exclusive to PC, and a modded GTA 5 multiplayer is one of the most fun experiences I ever had. It really encourages the simple appreciation of the game itself, real enjoyment, not something which is simulated by the SOLE impression of progress by skills, level and money. Sure, career progress and such are necessary mechanics, but they shouldn't have to make it up alone for game enjoyment. Imagine the wishlist thread on here to be a mod list on steam or PSN, where you can simply add modifications to your game, like it has been done in so many games before.

Honestly, if I ever get banned, I wouldn't care coming back to online, because the way it is now, vanilla, I have to say that the game has been extremely dumbed down, sole purpose is to make us spend money and grind money, somwhere obviously to incitate Shark Card sales. Sorry to brake it to some, but this is how it works apparently. "No fun allowed".

Sorry for this long post, but I would like that my garage keeps looking like this, and that my Bugatti keeps it's working retractable spoiler ;)

So what's your opinion on all of this, I would be happy if you'd participate :)

Greets,

Alex.

TL;DR : Not all mods are bad, Rockstar allowing mods would actually help regulating the online situtation, enhance the game experience and would also be profitable to console players.

For mods in GTA O

Private and invite only sessions: :^:

Single player: :^:

Public sessions: prepare for butthurt and whining

Bit off tooic: I know In older games with mod support, all players must have the mods to play together which was nice

Yes you WILL get banned. Check Rockstar support page if you don't believe me...

It's not that I don't believe you, I asked because I wanted to know actually.

And yes, I've searched and it can lead to a ban.

I only play invite only with friends, and all we do is screw around, make cars and take pictures. Mods are fine in private/friends only sessions.

But then again, even without mods, Public Sessions are filled with pieces of trash anyways.

A Quarter of my friends list are modders, I knew a few and they introduced me to their friends and so on. These are all good dudes, not the kind people bitch about destroying sessions and blowing people up constantly.

A few of these guys are really solid dudes, will help you out with anything you would ever need in this game and are always hosting fun sessions with friends to do random crazy sh*t..

I've received hundreds of millions across on both my accounts, all 60 of my cars have custom unobtainable paints and bodystyles, I have fun whenever I am playing with them and they are all really nice and funny as hell. Especially when they are on Mic chirping eachother.

The modders that people hate I like to annoy them. I refuse to go passive when I play so they can blow me up all they want, and I will still be driving around in my modded armor insurgent talking all kinds of sh*t and insulting them, their family and their country.

Great mods make games awesome.

But... in this forum most people think MODS = Hacking cheaters.

But when R* mods the game with updates...those same people LOVE it.

there's always a risk but it's safer in private or crew session

I don't care if someones using mods it's how they use it.

If you do things like kill players while invincible, super speed in a race or rape players etc. then that makes you a c*nt and I have no hesitation in reporting these types of people. On the other hand if you wanna change your player model, fly a chrome buzzard or make it snow then by all means be my guest. Then my only problem is that I can't do it too.

Tying into the bit about unlocking the games full potential if developers would just stop being so money hungry and put all their efforts into providing the best experience then no one would even need to mod because it would be fun enough, unless that persons a c*nt.

There should be invite only mod sessions. But only for things like modded vehicles and aircrafts, things like carmageddon, tsunami etc.

Superficial mods are fine IMO, mechanical mods are a problem. I care little for the looks as long as it looks nice, but change the speed and dynamics of any part of the game and you are walking on a crust of lava.

P.S

Money modding isn't recommendable but very minor. God modding or scalextricking a vehicle is a no no.

Miss Malevolent

I like the game as is warts and all. I only want official updates to the game. But I'd like those more frequently.

Unofficial patches to the game are not my bag.

Mods that harm the game for other players on the server are bad. Ones that enhance game play are fine, but rockstar really don't like them. Certainly these days. Individual texture mods should probably be allowed. They are relatively harmless.

I do wish rockstar would let those on pm play together with mods in some way, It would be even cooler if they allowed some mods onto console much like Bethesda are doing with fallout 4

everbody gonna say
"hey that mod car is cool why don't you just put in official car and give the modder some reward like a "good modder"t-shirt, instead taking 1 month to create 3 car with just one everbody to buy cause the insurance payback is expensive"
rockstar say
"no fun allowed"

deal with it

Let's see. Last night, I had a bout 2 and half hours to play after a long day at work.

Switch to male character, go into garage. . .garage explodes.

Dashboard out, clear cache, reload game.

Go into male character's garage . . . all cars upside down, barrier in front of elevator.

Dashboard out, clear cache, choose character, switch to female character.

Spawn in shambles garage, go outside, everything blows up.

New session . . .everything blows up.

Dashboard out, clear cache, chose character, back to male.

Garage full of dragster frames or something, cars stuck to ceiling.

Dashboard out, clear cache chose character back to female.

Exit garage, fall through the world.

New session, exit garage, fall through the world.

Dashboard out, clear cache chose character, back to male.

Garage seems fine, grab my car, drive out to do my daily objectives . . . invisible guy pulls me out of my car, ferris wheel and giant grey blocks all over the roads, attached an egg to my head a hot dog to my crotch, and freezes my character while a guy in a clown suit does a little dance.

Dashboard out, clear cache . .. . etc.

Now, 1) Can you guess my opinion on modders? 2) Explain to me again how *Rockstar* is keeping me from having fun?

I think you should make the distinction between script mods and physical mods. The former are what people hate in GTAO.

This is why I will never play on PC.

Ok.Then don't.Weird to make a comment about it even though you made 10s of the same regarding it.

OT : If R* were to announce mods being OK,then everyone would go bonkers....somehow.

I like what Fallout 4 is doing, its supporting mods and might even give consoles a slice of the action.R* could just do a "Modders Lobby" that you are forced to join if mods are detected when you first start up the game.If you start using abusing mods in the lobby then you get kicked into all solo sessions for that day.

Dirty Burger

I just remember back when this game was only about 6 months released, how fun the GTA Online community was. You'd have your extremely rare god moder or someone with a tow truck come in, but that was about it.

I remember about 4 months ago saying something to my friend in a party along the lines of "This game is pretty modder free, we're lucky" then it was like a week later that everything became rampant.

If you edit any of your files with a USB stick to mod GTA Online, I hope a naked homeless man breaks into your house one night and treats you like the whore you are.

I don't really care who mods or who doesn't, if all your doing is changing the "graphics" of "your personal" belongings and just to satisfy "your" liking, then no problem. If you're modding cash to be "rich" on GTA:O, then you've wasted money and time because there is no longer a point to the game. People that mod to make them "better", really just suck more at video games, or you wouldn't be "modding". But, the next problem would be like the previous guy posted, "I can't do it myself", video games have become where everyone has to be "equal", or you can't have it! IDGAF what you do, but some people do...

Since I mod myself, and I fully admit to that, here is my 2 cents so to speak. So what mods do I use, I use a trainer as I believe that it just makes the game more fun and just quicker to do stuff. Does that mean I go driving around in a supercar with god mode and explosive bullets? No. Do I blow people up remotely? No.

That is not what trainers should be used for in my opinion, and I absolutely despise anyone that uses them in this way. I use my trainer to go have some fun with people, sometimes mess with them but for the most part I just change into my cop outfit, spawn myself a cop car and go drive around roleplaying and just having some fun.

Other things could include me helping other players if they want a certain car with certain components on it that are normally hard to find or helping newer players have some fun, like spawning a cargo plane and gathering everyone at the airport for a parachute jump, I don't teleport anyone to me unless they wish to be teleported, that is the sort of stuff I think should be done with trainer not the wind turbine bullsh*t and blowing people up around the map.

As for car mods, why not allow them? All they are essentially doing is just changing the model of a vehicle and most of them don't really change the hitboxes of the vehicle all that much.

That's because R* clearly stated that they do not allow modding Online, FiveM was shut down as they used coding from GTAO to make their dedicated servers, thus, indirectly modding GTAO.

So everybody that uses save editor (in SP nonetheless, can't even do it with GTAO lmao) deserves to get raped anally by a hobo?

That's the most immature f*cking thing I have ever read on this forum. Can't even image tag correctly, so I assume you are either a troll or you suffer from some sort of retardation, can't believe anyone would say what you just said seriously.

Even if it used there coding...there is nothing wrong with R* maybe even collaborating with them,as it will allow the game to flourish.
